Consider this about NHL
We all know the league is having a problem with hits affecting the head...Recently the league had meetings and this issue was discussed....Mickey Redmond talked about this the last game....Instead of doing something about it now the league has tabled it until their March meetings....Their excuse apparently being that it is difficult to do something midseason.
I find it totally irresponsible on their part to delay making some kind of rule change that would be made to protect their players from possible injury.
Head injuries often require long term recovery. They can end careers and could even result in death. But the NHL has basically chosen to ignore doing anything about it until they can study it some more and discuss it again in March.
What this says to me is that Bettman and company don't give a d-mn what happens to anybody in the meantime.
Three things can possibly happen in the March meetings. Changes will be made beginning next season. They will make them in March giving everybody just a few games to get used to any new rule before the playoffs, or they will decide to do nothing and continue to watch players get their bell rung.
Their non action on this matter should pizz off both the players and the fans who continue to watch their teams suffer when one of their players is sidelined by some of these crazy headhunters that show no respect for other players.
Bettman get your head out of your azz and for once do something right.
Hey ref BLOW THIS
Decent hockey game tonight was totally screwed up by inept officiating....Both ref and Toronto blew the disallowed Detroit goal call....NHL needs to get decent refs that know what the he11 a penalty is and quit calling all these phantom hooking penalties....Let the teams decide the game and not have some make believe penalty call determine the outcome.
Budd Lynch voice of the Red Wings
Though perhaps not as instantly recognizable by as many people the sound of Budd Lynch's voice is every bit as much of Detroit sports history as that of Ernie Harwell.
I first heard him in the early fifties on the 10PM tv broadcasts that showed only the 3rd period. Hearing his voice today always brings back the memories of watching those games with my grandfather.
Congrats to you Mr. Lynch on being recognized and thanked tonight for your many years of service to the Red Wings and for the memories the sound of your voice brings to me and I'm sure many others.
Hopefully we will be able to hear it for many more years to come.
Shootout
Terrible shot selection by Dats And Zetts. Two of the best at faking and they just shoot the d*mn puck straight on with no deke at all. What do they think Haby is some pond hockey goalie that can't stop an easy shot.
Franzen / Olympics
If the Wings allow Franzen to play in the Olympics they are crazy.
That's all they need is for him to play and do something to hurt his returning to them. We will need him ready for the playoffs.
I don't agree with this Olympic deal in the middle of the season.
You got guys beating he11 out of each other all year and then they become buddies for two weeks to play for some flag before going back to wacking each other again. It also puts teammates against each other which I don't care for. Screw the Olympics if you are an NHL player.
Tell them their contract will be voided if they get hurt in them and I bet fewer will play and risk injury.
Wings season
GO WINGS !!
This will be a long year
The mighty Red Wings sure don't look so mighty anymore.
It looks like it will be a long year with a fight for every point.
I still say Detroit needs at least one big mean S.O.B. to keep th flys off and beat the other team up with some physical play.
Right now we are too much finese and will constantly get run over by the physical play of other teams.
We still need a tough guy
Wings are all such lightweights they'll get b*tch slapped all year because KH didn't get us anybody to stand up for our guys. Don't tell me Bert is gonna cause he's not a bonified tough guy when it comes to dropping the gloves.
Most if not all the other teams have at least one guy that can mix it up pretty good.
With all our European guys we probably need a protector more than anybody but we keep adding figure skaters like Williams.
Long for the days of having one heaveyweight azzkicker on the team.
HITCHCOCK
I give up can't spell for sh*t tonight.
Hitchcock
Got so dam*ed excited I spellied screw wrong.
Anyhow...SCREW HITCHCOCK
Hitchcock
Screrw this old fart........Columbus along with a half dozen other teams don't even belong in the NHL.
Sign a tough guy
We need a bonified tough guy before we need another 10-12 goal scorer. Our guys need some protection from getting manhandled. Right now we NOBODY that can stand up and put a stop to somebody that is taking advantage of any of our players. I know fighting is down in the NHL but intimidation will never go away.
Where's our enforcer?
Holland get on the stick and get an enforcer to protect our guys. Right now Osgood might be the only guy we've got that's come close to winning a fight.
Patrick Kane
WHAT A CHEAPSKATE. 20 frickin' cents. He probably spilled that much in drinks during the night. Just goes to show that nothing good happens at 4 AM after clubbing all night.
Hey Holland..GET A TOUGH GUY
with whatever money is left we need somebody with some grit not another pansy. Right now there is nobody on the team to stand up for anybody. If I was Pav or Dats I'd be calling KH every day lobbying for somebody that will protect them...
