If the Wings are gonna return to prominence this year, it's gonna have to be with one of the best defenses in the league. That's where they have the experience, it's where they have the know how, and it's what wins championships anyway. That's what they have to get back to. A defensive effort that would make ol Scotty proud!
Now watching the Mighty Quacks against the Pengoons. I turned down a ticket to this game. Had too much work to do, and I'm still not ready for this. Not until I get a Wings game under my belt.

We still have a very experienced, veteran club. They won't get rattled, and won't let a tough stretch get to them. We have a resilient team that knows how to win, and will win their share during the season as they sort out what they have to sort by playoff time.
We also have solid management that will be able to see what the team needs, and move accordingly.
Losing the Mule is a tough blow, but will give Kenny some much needed cap room to make a move later on.

Here's the deal
I think the Wings need to muddle through the season trying out different combinations, playing shut down defense, and just be sure to have things sorted out by the spring. This team is still good enough to sleep walk their way into the playoffs. They're too talented not to. The season doesn't start until April.

Blazo's seemed to me to be like it used to be a Big Boy, but lost it's franchise or something, so they changed the name. We had five kids and we all got to go to Blazos after our first communions. That was in the 60's and I know it changed it's name a long time ago, but it was on Michigan Ave, just like the other places folks are referring to. I know that Miller's is still there, but that might be the only one. Peaches records was another frequent hang out, and the movie theater at Westborn.
Anyway, I left Michigan in '84 but I go back once or twice a year. I have playoff tickets for the Tigers, but haven't booked a flight yet. Haven't missed a Red Wing game at the Ponda center since they opened the joint, and haven't missed a Tiger series in Anaheim since 84. A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do!

I used to go into both places all the time back in the day. Miller's has one of the best burgers in town. Angelo's Pizza was known for hot waitresses and good Pizza.
There was also a restaurant on Michigan right near the bridge over Telegraph Rd. It was called Blazo's at one point. Don't know what it's called now or whether it's even still there. My brother worked at another restaurant called Doug's Body Shop, where they had car seats at the tables.
