O`Reilly
Because of my location I watch a lot of Av hockey and I`m amazed that so many teams passed on Ryan O`Reilly. The kid does everything right with outstanding character. I`m sorry the Wings drafted Landon Ferraro instead. However, had the Wings taken O`Reilly, would he have played in the NHL or spent 4 years in a wasted internship.
Lebda
He`s got straight ahead speed without mobility. Very much like a Wing oldtimer had, Paul Woods. That type of skating ability doesn`t transfer into good offensive numbers.
Last two minutes
If someone has already mentioned this ,I missed it. Why in the world wouldn`t Babs not lifted Howard with two minutes remaining, to allow us to have two extra skaters during the final minute of the power play? I guess that would be classified under creative thinking.
2009-2010, A surprise ?
JD, Do you always look through rose colored glasses? By the way since the 1950`s.
2009-2010, A surprise ?
I can`t believe most of us couldn`t see this season coming with the failure in the finals and the patchwork roster moves we made this past summer. We come in with, what I would call at best, questionable goaltending, as we wait for someone to develop. Lets face it, last year was Ozzie`s last stand. We allowed Quincy to leave while we are forced to watch the midget D-men work their limited magic keeping the crease cleared. And finally, the part that really bothers me is the 4 FA forwards we wasted money on. Other teams picked a legitimate enforcers that makes others question whelter they truely want to run at Z or Dats. Bringing in Jason ####*&** Williams is a huge error. He was soft originally and will be forever. I don`t know how KH can look in the mirror after his last 12 months of transactions. I he`s been solid in the past but I hope his slump doesn`t continue as long as the Lions 2008 season .
Bert, Williams and Eaves
Stiffs the Wings of the past would not have considered.
Rebuilding?
After observing the off season`s moves, I believe this year the Wings will sink in the standings. I foresee us making moves to unload talent at the trading deadline. When we brought back Jason Williams, this was a patch on the roster the Wings usually do not make. I was thrilled when he was originally moved. As for goaltending, our roster does not currently have a difference-maker. We seem satisfied to wait for Thomas McCollum to develop. What bothers me is Nick having to go through this in the autumn of his career. It also seems that our leadership`s focus might be on the upcoming Olympics rather than the Winged wheel.I hope I`m wrong. What do you think?
