Bert has got to be taken off this line. Murphy said Osgood played real well I wander what game he was at.
Bert
Amen. What was Holland thinking? He blew the first time he came over.
Bert
Worst move RW's made in a long time. Datsyuk talent wasted on GOON linemate!!!
bert
bert might as well put a dress on. the size of him he should be dozing guys over no emotion at all.
Bert
Now that he's learned how to cross over, maybe he can learn how to pick a corner!!!
Bert
other than a few dumb turnovers I actually think Bertuzzi is play fairly well. He's just taking a tad too much time with the puck in the offenseive zone to get his shot off. I think he's snake-bitten and wanting to be too sure of what he wants to do instead of just reacting and getting the puck on net.
He does not look slow to me and in fact, he's playing better this stint with us than his last. he's backchecking, carrying the puck in the neutral zone and forechecking too.
Funny the 2 guys getting ragged on (Bert and Williams)are playing better than I expected them to play and better that they did before they left.
Bert
Maybe Big ol' Bert is playing like Babcock wants him to. I think Bert is still trying to find his spot/role. I like Berts effort most of all and as long as he keeps on "keepin' on" I'll cut him slack. Cleary is stuck on 99 career goals, I knew there was a jinx there somewhere, ;^).
Poor Jason Williams, Playing for us or against us his position doesn't seem to change much. Mr. Wallflower to his closest friends, others consider him the life of the party (after a few beers). Mostly what I remember from Jasons previous play with the Wings is his on again off again scoring. I seem to remember him slumping badly. Given all of that I still hope Williams can buck up and fill the role I think he was picked up for.
On a different note(especially for collectors), the boys will be wearing a special patch for the induction of future HHOFers, Yzerman, Hull, Robitaille. Sweet.
Bert
Hoosier,
The thing with Bert is he doesn't use his size enough. He's not aggressive. He can't handle the puck, he's slow & his passing is not up to Wings standards. I think he's still being rated on his stats of many years ago. He was minus even in his glory years. The Wings are so desperate for size I think that's why he was signed. He's done almost nothing for 5 years now. He was a plus 7 when you total those 5 years in Vancouver. Trouble for the Wings now is they will stick with him for the season and that will hurt. IMO
Bert
Unfortunately, no matter what he does or how well he plays, he is still going to get trashed in this forum. Now that Lilja is on the LTIR, people need someone else to rip on. Call me crazy, but I don't think its fair to criticize someone who is working his bum off to put the puck in the net. If he was loafing and giving an alf-hass effort, I would say he deserves it, but that is not the case w/ Bert right now.
Bert
I'm was not a huge fan of the Bert signing, and I know he hasn't exactly lit up the stat sheets, but he is going to break through soon. He's set up so many scoring chances that it's only a matter of time. I think he is skating better and I think he is enjoying having more ice time in his second Red Wing stint.
It just seems that he is in the right place at the right time a lot. He is a bit snakebitten right now, but hopefully that won't last much longer.
Helm...what can you say? He's starting to appeal to me in the same way watching Draper used to before Draper started losing a step or two. Just love watching him keep the opposing team honest whenever he is on the ice with his speed.
Good to see Z get a yeoman-like goal. Happy to come out on the winning side of a shootout. LGRW

Todd Bertuzzi...blah...blah...blah...cheap shot... blah...blah...blah...Steve Moore...blah...blah...blah... disgrace...blah...blah...blah... shame on Wings...blah...
blah...blah...yawn...yawn...yawn...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.Bert
Give the guy a break. Did you watch the incident? The guy took a cheap shot at his Capt. in the last meeting and knew it was coming. He turned his back like a coward and ended up with a fluke injury when Bert landed on top of him. In my opinion, the injury was as much his coaches fault for putting him in the game. There was no reason for him to be there if he wasn't going to make a statement and defend himself. Bert did his job. The injury was unfortunate and not deliberate. He lost a marginal career and Bert lost millions too. No winners.
Bert
I tend to agree with you post regarding Bertuzzi. I think his short stint with the Wings was premature to judge. Like you said he isn't the same player he was back in the day. But his size alone his much needed for the Wings. I think his game is very similar to Homers with the exception that Bert has had some impressive seasons. He isn't a 1st line winger anymore.
I don't have high expectation or Bert. But I wouldn't mind seeing a 20G 20A season from him. Afterall, according to the teams physical checkup he even surprised the wings.
Bert
Yesterday or a few day's back i mentioned that i thought bert would be heading to the land of brotherley love-
Show's ya what the heck i actually know eh!!..... that all my chirping .....is like sitting in a mexican resturant & only ordering chips & salsa.... Need that tecate beer.....to make it go down real smooth & nice!! glad he's back.....hm- will see soon enough. go wings....go blue
Bert
I like the signing of Bert for one year at $1.5 mil. He adds much needed size to the team, still has good hands and can provide some of the fly swatting people are talking about. He didn't cost too much and obviously is well liked in the room or he wouldn't be coming back.
I don't think anything can be judged on his first stint here because it was too short to really tell much. I don't think he was nearly as bad in the 07 playoffs as many seem to think. He was coming off a back injury and had only played 15 regular season games between Fla and the Wings and just wasn't in prime shape. With a back injury, how could he be?
I think many fans simply had an unrealistic expectation of what he could do at the time. He is not the same player he was in Vancouver but that doesn't mean he still can't play and fill a specific role on this team.
I also read mention of his -13 last year with the Flames. 2 things should be pointed out. Over half the Flames team were minus players last year including their 3 best players in Iginla, Cammalleri and Phaneuff. The Flames were just not good defensively last year including Kiprusoff and was not a Todd Bertuzzi issue but a Flames issue. Secondly, he was one of the few Flames that was a plus player in their one playoff series last year when he led them with a + 4.
I think we will be pleasantly suprised by what he brings to the team this year at the salary he is making.
