Interesting Tid-bit from Rotoworld on Granderson
Phil Rogers says that many in the Cubs front office feel it would be "foolish" to trade prospect Starlin Castro to Detroit for Curtis Granderson.
Castro has quickly established himself as the best Cubs prospect after his showing in the Arizona Fall League. Granderson, conversely, has been one of the best centerfielders in the game (against right-handed pitching) and is thought to be available. Rogers, who writes for the Chicago Tribune, says that Cubs GM Jim Hendry "appreciates" what Granderson brings to the table and wonders if new hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo could help address Granderson's platoon issues. If the Cubs won't give Castro up in a Granderson deal, it will be extremely tough to pull off.

Trading Cabrera
If Ryan Strieby can hit like Don Mattingly, then YES, go ahead and trade Miguel Cabrera, but certainly not for Ellsbury and Lowell.
Armando Galarraga to Pitch for the Caracas Lions in the Venezuelan League
Armando says he had conversation with Jim Leyland, who encouraged him to work on his delivery and mechanics. Galarraga also wants to polish his sinker. Does not think that the WBC had any impact on his performance this year. See link below.

Trading Cabrera
Absolutely not. The Tigers need more offense and he is the anchor of that offense. All these scenarios to trade Cabrera are laughable. Cabrera for Mike Lowell. Ha...ha..ha..ha. Cabrera is to the Tigers what Pujols is to the Cardinals. He along with Verlander should be untouchables....and that is that..
Trading Granderson
I do not think the Yankees would give the Tigers say Phil Hughes and Melky Cabrera for Granderson, or Robinson Cano and Cole Anderson....so I think I agree with Yooper..Granderson´s perceived value is a little less than we think. He is good player to have no doubt but he is not irreplaceable. His inability to hit lefties with any consistency will preclude him from becoming a superstar, if there such thing. Perhaps more important is the fact that Granderson seems to crave the limelight. Chicago or New York might be a better place for him to be. I say, depending on what is offered, trading Granderson is not out of the question.
Trades
Yes, Jesus Montero would big a fine catch. Big boy. He is a catcher and I am not sure if he is playing in the Venezuelan League. The Yankees paid a lot of money for him..so I am not sure he would be dealt. Also, not sure if Jesus is related to Miguel Montero of the Diamondbacks.
Trades
How about Granderson for Melky Cabrera or Bob Gardner and Phil Hughes??.
Trade Rumors-Granderson from Rotoworld
Joel Sherman of the New York Post cites a National League executive who says that the Tigers have let other teams know that Curtis Granderson is available "for the right package."
Granderson would surely have many suitors, with the Yankees near the top of the list, according to Sherman. The 28-year-old outfielder batted .249/.327/.453 with 30 home runs, 71 RBI and 20 stolen bases in 2009, but struggles notoriously against left-handed pitching. Still, he is very solid in the field and would give the Yankees an alternative to Johnny Damon. Granderson is owed $25.75 million over the next three seasons, with a $13 million club option for 2013.
Well Whatever Happens
Varitek is already guaranteed 3.5 million if he stays with Boston as a backup. No ways he signs with the Tigers for less than that, and it appears the Tigers would not want to pay that kind of money to a player in decline.
Trading Jackson and Laird
Well, let us hope a trade brings a potition player and/or stud reliever.
Carl Effing Pavano
The Tigers should attempt signing Pavano to a one-year deal, if all possible. We do not want this guy pitching against us next year and going something like 7-0.
Can Adrian Gonzales Play LF??
If so, Detroit cand send San Diego Curtis Granderson, C. Crosby, Joel Zumaya, and Jeff Larish for him. Is that an attractive package for the Padres??
Pedro Feliz
is suddenly available. Pretty good infielder who will hit one out once in a while. However, it does not look like he would be a good fit with the Tigers....
Yorvit Torrealba
Yooper, I still have horrible memories of Laird´s 12th inning at bat against the Twins. That is why I am pushing for anybody but him. You do make a good point on Laird´s seemingly superior defensive skills.
Yorvit Torrealba
just became available. Why not sign him, trade Laird back to Texas, or wherever, and allow Avila to ease into the job. From what I have seen Torrealba is a better hitter than Laird, anytime of the day.
