DDummy's false dilemma...

Dixon will probably end up working as a sales rep at Compuware in Dallas. Karmanos has a soft spot for certain felons. O'Malley's probably chuckling while reading about her plight...."Rookie. LOL."

DDummy's false dilemma...

BigPaw, been to your town a couple times although not since 1994. Liked the waterfront set up with the eateries, shops, etc. Shame Detroit can't get it's chit together. Among other things, they're too busy spending tens of thousands trying to find out why a certain ex-Mayor has been stiffing his restitution obligation to the tune of $3000 per month.

"Buck

Did you hear where Millen, in his critique of UofM, stated that Rodriquez needs to upgrade the team's personnel? Sound advise from a recognized expert in the field."

Hear it? I mentioned exactly that yesterday in a post. Also, he mentioned that RichRod needs to upgrade his defensive line. I was shaking my head and laughing. A guy who wouldn't know a decent player on defense (S. Rogers and E. Sims were two exceptions) in eight years of choice draft position if it bit him in the arse is opining that a coach has to upgrade that area. If ESPN/ABC had any dignity they'd jettison that bum and hire someone better qualified and with some credibility to opine. Is Andy Dick doing anything these days?

The camera also panned in on Matt yesterday. In spite of the suit, the guy looks like a prison guard, but without the personality.

Why coudn't Ilitch mimic the one with his Wings instead of taking a page from Ford's playbook? Devellano and Holland were/are a winning combo as Prez and GM. Millen had the dual roles and we know how well that went. Now DD still maintaining the titles of President/GM? This guy needs help...at times to keep himself in line.

BTW, since Millen has reemerged from under his bed to broadcast, my conclusion is that he adds largely nothing to the endeavor whether it's Pro or college football. I guess I'm still pissed at how he left the Lions a wreck that will take years to undo although as long as Ford's the owner or his son I don't think the ineptitude curse will be lifted.

Charles Bronson with a brogue

Sorta like late 1950's actor John Gavin trying to imitate an English accent and falling on his arse. This is where Troyman will jump in with the man's film credits, voting preference, and religious affiliation.

DDummy's false dilemma...

Never saw the movie, BB. Sounds like Vennie's been around though. Case in point, 46 years ago today in Dealey Plaza in Dallas. A guy named Zapruder asked Vennie for a light while wanting to shoot the breeze. History would have gone unrecorded if Vennie hadn't instructed him to get the 8 millimeter cam going otherwise he'd miss something.

DDummy's false dilemma...

Nice take on DDummy being stretched too thin, BB. Nice to see someone who puts words to music with a sarcastic edge. Thought I was alone in that regard. I was gonna recommend a replacement for Smokes, but I understand Cliff Arquette (Charley Weaver) of Hollywood Squares fame? passed on to that Secret Square in the sky several years back.

Query

Lions rate an F on special teams and Stan Kwan still keeps his job. Typical Lions. He probably got a contract extension too.

Yeah, and probably another six Lions will go on the DL while carrying Schwartz off the field after such a win.

Query

"Has anyone ever asked Dombrowski what his reasoning was for extending Willis and if so,how he replied"?

Sure. An out of town scribe asked the question while first clarifying that his question didn't have to first pass muster via the Tigers Ministry of Information Bureau and that he didn't care whether he would be left out of the post game pressers:

DD replied that Willis was a worthwhile investment along with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and that it was important to lock him up so a bidding war wouldn't ensue after only one year. DD went on to say that he felt no hesitation in terms of making the investment and that sometimes the best investments are those that aren't well thought out. Uh-huh.

Charlie Weis

Rumor is that either Gerry Faust or Bill Belichik are replacement candidates. Sounds like Rodriguez will have another year at U of M. Crappy day for Michigan football with State also getting blasted. Paterno's a wonder. The guy's been coaching at Penn State since 1915 and he still hasn't missed a beat.

"Weis seems to be a nice guy, he's lucid in interview (many aren't) but something is really lacking."

Agreed. Someone needs to set the man on a salad and cottage cheese course correction. The guy's cammode is probably supported by Monroe shocks/ struts.
