was screwed for the Oscar by the Academy. He should have won for The Pawnbroker. The guy was one Method actor who I liked starting with The Harder They Fall, Bogie's last film.

His performance as the pawnbroker is one of my all-time favorites. But surpassed by Richard Harris' portrayal in "This Sporting Life." Unbelievably brilliant film with great acting by Harris and Rachel Roberts.
