Good job
Ike: Your not suppose to have the answer and respond so quickly and precisely to LadyBlue and the rest of these blue guzzlers. They want us to be to lazy or not care to look up the rebuttals to this trivia. I knew that even after many Carr players abandoned ship or transferred(about 20), there was plenty of talent left to field a competitive team. Your post only confirmed what I suspected. Good job and congrats to winning JG's pick-em award. Johnny surely is a legend in his own mind. (Just keeding Johnny, stay warm.)
Big get
Skyler Schofner a 6-6, 295lb Ol from Ohio has become MSU's 15th commit for 2010. Skyler had over 25 offers which included Big l0 schools OSU, Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, ect. He joins two other Ohio OL who have made verbal commits to play for MSU. As the Spartans had a top 3 OL class in 09 and were able to red-shirt them all, look for the OL next year to be young but very talented. Returning next year will be Foreman, Gannt, Young and MCGaha.
Sour grapes
First of all, let's start by saying the Spartans stunk up the place yesterday and the defense has to change or Narduzzi needs to be fired. We have several 4th and 5th year DB's that couldn't cover a corpse with a blanket. Maybe the problem lies with Barnett as technique wise these kids never seem to improve. With 50% of the Big l0 now running the spread, MSU better learn how to cover those WR's. When I see a DB look back and knock down a ball it will be the first time. Now as far as the comments that a 6-6, MSU team shouldn't accept a bowl bid, that's stupid. Although I feel this team underachieved, ( they lost 5 games by a combined 23 points), while giving away wins with CMU, ND, and Iowa by (5 pts). There are 53 players that are freshman or sophmores, who will greatly benefit from extra practice time. Two freshman RB's, two 2nd year QB's and several O&D lineman, who will be playing next year. Although disappointed about this teams record, I'm more disappointed in the job the coaches did, especially on defense. Coaches by rule are a very stubborn group, but Dantonio will have to shake-up this staff, if he wants to win a Big l0 Championship.
Regional Telecast
JG: Probably a regional telecast shown only to the Midwest. I hope I'm wrong but if I have to go to the internet I will. Izzo playing alot of his players in the first half this week, which will have to pay dividends at the end of the year. Lucas and Summers and hopefully Morgan(if healthy) will be something this year. Green also has good moves near the bucket. Why is it that these kids can't shoot free throws? We were never near as talented as them when I was in HS., but at least we were 70%+ at the line. This will come back to haunt them, if improvement is not made.
Where's the games
OK forum friends, I have Dish Network here in Wrinklewood and will quit work in time to watch Michigan/OSU at 12:00pm and MSU/PSU at 3:30pm. Would someone please tell me where they will be televised as I see neither on Big l0 Network. Being here in Florida I hope they aren't preempted by some SEC game. Your immediate response will be greatly appreciated. By the way, what kind of weather is expected in that neck of the woods in AA and EL?
Puleeze don't fire Rod
This board is dominated by MUM fans pro and against firing Rod. Can you imagine the board for the next six months if Rod and Rita are sent packing into those Hills? It will be the same as the six months BRR, as it was unbearable listening to the Michigan talk daily about the best candidate for this prestigous position. Just keep him at least another year so the rest of us don't have to go through the hiring of another MUM coach again. ericn: U of M and one NC the last 12 years. First of all, it was 1/2 a NC and secondly the last NC won by the leaders and the best was l948. Surely the MUM program has to be center stage in National prominence. Another new MUM poster talks of Michigan being on the same Academic Excellence as the Ivy League schools with their student/athletes. The U of M stopped worrying about their athletes being students back when I was at EL in the early 60's. They(Michigan) had just went through two decades of being pounded by MSU and said enough is enough. Bring us those who can run fast, jump and hit or we never will be able to beat Big Brother in EL. And that is the end of the story.
US Army All American
WingedNut where ever you are: MSU 2010 recruit Joe Boisture has been selected to play in the US ARMY ALL AMERICAN game. The 6-6, 205lb Boisture will enroll at MSU early in January and he and Nick Hill will room together. Congratulations Joe, quite an accomplishment and proves that Dantonio certainly has an eye for talent.
Don't get it.
Anakin and LadyBlue: First, Anakin don't apologize to me as I don't deserve it. Those that know me,realize that I'm a Michigan hater and if they never won another game, it would be to soon. Having said that, it's one thing to be competitive and lose a lot of close games that could have went either way, it's another to just look pathetic and not have a prayer of winning. Did I expect much more of MSU this year, absolutely. They lost to CMU, Iowa and Notre Dame by a total of 5 points. All those games they should have won, but at least they were competitive. Losses to Minnesota by 8 and Wisconsin by 7 were deserved as Wisconsin was better and MSU just stunk up the place against Minnesota after coming off a heart-breaking lost to Iowa. It seems the only one that can see how bad the situation is in AA is PC. Don't get me wrong, I hope you all keep beating the drum for Rod and he never leaves AA. He's the best thing that has happened for rest of the Big l0 in years. I actually enjoy watching U of M football for the first time since my undergraduate days in EL. Carry on with your banter as that is what the forum is all about. Can't wait until Saturday to watch both Michigan and MSU. By the way LadyBlue I just posted in the last couple days criticism of Dantonio as he is to conservative on defense, runs a prevent when he gets the lead late and maybe is to loyal to his assistants. It is, what it is.
This-n-that
Mgozebra: " Someday, the PSU and MSU game will be for all the marbles." Last year at Happy Valley it was for the Big l0 Championship. Does that qualify for someday. Anakin: Please stop it, as you are rooting for a very poor, pathetic football team. Look at the teams the U of M beat: Eastern, Della State, Western, Indiana(in OT, their only Big l0 win) and Notre Dame with less than 11 seconds left. PULEEEZ, this same team got throttled by Illinois and Purdue. They(U of M) suck on defense and have a mediocre offense. If Minor doesn't play, look for OSU to score when they want to and their defense to make a mockery of Rod's vaulted offense. Give it a rest and hope Beilien gets Harris, Sims and Company ready for the Big l0 season and they win more than ONE BIG l0 game. It's one thing to lose a couple close games where it could have went either way and another where you just didn't have a pray. Is PC the only Michigan fan who actually is watching these games and has a clue how bad this team has become?
Great game
Great game last night between the Zags and MSU. The Spartans had to have at least 20 TO's and have to be one of the worst free throw shooting teams ever. Bigs for the Zags along with their shooting guard unbelievable. Both their bigs at 7.0 and 7.4, ran the floor and handled the ball like players a foot shorter. This is a very good Gonzaga ball club. Look for them to win about 25 games and another conference championship. Summers, Lucas and Morgan played well with Green and Nix coming along. Roe (0 points and 5 fouls)PULEEEZ, and Chris Allen, shoot the darn ball, better get going or it will be pine time. How many time have we seen the Spartans start slow, pile-up the fouls on the opponents best players and then come back and win. I was not worried as have seen this same scenario many times. It will take Izzo most of the season to find the right chemistry and 5 guys who belong on the floor together. Again, great game for this early in the year and fun to watch.
What's up?
DoorCounty: What in the world are they smokin in Wisconsin these days to make you think that the MUM has a chance in Hades to upset the Buckeyes? Rod's team is dreadful and those Bucks have one of the best D's in the Big l0. I think you could put Justin Boren at QB and let him hand off every time to his little bro and beat these slugs by 14 points. Continue on with Door County's favorite PBS and that whacky tobacky. Don't know what the line is but I've got OSU 41, U of M 7 and I thought I was being kind.
Does that mean defense
Johnny: Does being a Saban man mean that Kelly not only is very innovative with the offense, but he also is a defensive guru? I like Dantonio as he is honest, has integrity and is a no nonsense type of coach. I also believe he is very stubborn and maybe to loyal to his coaches. His defensive philosophy (3-man rush)when nursing a lead, (see Iowa, CMU,)ect. and not continuing to pressure the QB with blitz packages in late stages of the ball game, drive me crazy. (The secondary takes all the blame, but they can't cover a WR all day, while the QB chooses who to throw to.) Having said all that, I wouldn't trade him for Rod or most Big l0 coaches, but if he doesn't change we will continue to win 6-8 games per season. If he goes after Clark this Saturday and pressures him we win, if not, chalk up another win for JOPA. Dantonio was suppose to be a defensive genius, but we lead the Big l0 on offense. GO FIGURE.
Maybe it's Treadwell who is the genius.I hope your right
PC/Anakin: I hope you are both right and there is absolutely no interest again from Michigan in Brian Kelly. During the last search for a HC, I was just hoping in the worst way that the U of M would not hire Kelly. We have a summer home between Grand Rapids and Mount Pleasant and I've had plenty of time to observe Brian and his teams in this area. When MSU was looking for a coach, I personally was on board with the hiring of Kelly instead of Dantonio. As all of you know I dislike the U of M and Notre Dame football programs, but if either gets Kelly I hope its Notre Dame. I'm afraid that Kelly would put Michigan back on top sooner than later and would much rather see Harbaugh or Miles at the U of M than Kelly. IMHO
Missed the post
Scottgame: Missed the post from the guy in TC about Brandon Gramham, but it wouldn't have mattered. Opinions are like other body parts, we all have one and there is nothing wrong with using it. If the guy was wrong and made an arse of himself, who cares. GrammaBlu has not been hired to my knowledge to police this forum. Continue to be a good gramma to her grandson as it appears she does a great job of that.
Watch your step
Sorry, I met whether not rather. I can feel another ulcer coming on. Posting on this site used to be fun and some people have turned it into a job.
