RichRod
Did he get fired yet? If not, than he's on the job one day longer than necessary. His current boss won't do it as its some kind of saving face for him. However, RR's new boss will. Its only a matter of time. About one year to the day and its all over.
Forcier
He may transfer but unlike Mallet, Forcier is limited in choices. His play, even for a freshman, was eratic at best. Careless may be a better description. Mallet has size, a rocket arm and is a proto-typical NFL QB. Forcier has to fit in a certain mold and I do not see a lot of spread teams (at least the top teams) opening their doors to Forcier. Sure he can transfer but its not a great option for him. I believe he is coming back and will play better.
Buckeyes bury mistake-prone and bowl-less Wolverines
I cant pick on Forcier for being young. He will mature and should learn from this experience. In addition, he was asked to win games (and failed) but received little support from his teammates. On a bad football team, the QB is scrutinized even more. He played badly the second half of the season and he was humbled. Now if continues to act like a child next season, I'm sure the bench is where he will find himself. Like RR, he has nobody to blame but himself for his poor performance. Its curious to see if a bad coach can help make Forcier a better player.
Bill Martin
Its comical for him to come out like such a tough guy and bark to anyone willing to listen to fool, "Rodriguez will be back next year". Oh man, what a supporter you are. RR is not even that stupid. He knows his future is no longer in your dumb hands. Time is a luxury RR no longer has. The horrific football displayed this season has all but used up any goodwill you had remaining after last season. The new AD will not let his legacy be determined by a retiring moron that hired a bad football coach. Not a chance. The new AD will actually score points with the faithful once he pulls the plug on RR on 11/28/2010.
Forcier
Wow. Just threw another interception.
Do Spartans deserve a bowl?
You shouldn't deprive the players of a bowl game. MSU was not a juggernaut this year but they did lose a lot from last year. Defense definitely needs improvement. Dantonio also must scrap using two QBs. That system does not work. Spartans will be better next year. The players played hard and if they get enough wins to get to bowl, they should take advantage. Its a great college experience and should be enjoyed even by a 6-6 team.
R. Rod backers are acting like he took over
RR took over a team or group of players that had a talent level better the record produced the last two years. RR had the luxury of struggling but not putting teams on the field that regress from weak to weak. Coaching is teaching and this team was worse as the game went on and regressed every week. This is where he fails. RR needed to show something of an improvement over last year and failed miserably. You cant say take out the Forcier turnovers and its a different game. Turnovers are part of the game and UM makes so many each week they have no chance to win. This is a poorly assembled, poorly coached team that plays poorly. Not sure why more time with RR at the helm changes that.
RR Supporters
I just want to know what it is that gives the supporters hope for the future. You can use "just give him time" and things will be all right. Time is not a strategy. Tackling is a strategy, blocking is a strategy, ball security is a strategy, converting in the red zone is a strategy, not missing 20 yard field goals is a strategy. The "give him time" philosophy is a hope. Hope does not improve blocking, tackling, stop the turnovers. Coaching does and this is where RR fails. The team blows and gets worse from game to game. This trend is now two years old. "Oh the offense is better". Really? You mean the offense that turns the ball over at a record pace? The offense that gets out rushed by huge margins in conference play (OSU 251 yards vs UM 80 yards)? Forget the defense. I could spend a weak on the defense but will sum it quickly. The defense is atrocious. If its going to take time to fix the mess, then why trust RR to do it? Not me. Get rid of him now and give the program a chance to revive itself. Otherwise, get used to being the Big Ten doormat. Welcome to AA. Wipe and stomp your feet here. Everybody else does.
Next Coach/AD
Will have to be a coach/AD combo like Bo and Canham. Two people that will tell Martin and Lloyd and the rest of the old guard you are not welcome here. Its not just chasing out the coach that will fix this mess but a complete flushing out of the old guard (namely Lloyd and Martin) that will get this fixed. This downward spiral started before RR got here to his defense. It still doesn't absolve him from getting wacked. Two incompetent people will not fix this. Accordingly, the new AD must find the coach that will not only be a good coach but a good partner in eliminating the remants of the Bo era. A new AD does not want his legacy tied to RR so this is why RR is gone whether he realizes or not.
RR Supporters
I love the RR supporters who say give RR more time to right the ship he detsroyed. More time, more recruits, more this, more that. My question is besides the more time factor, what has he done to deserve more time. UM football is an absolute mess and a disgrace. The question should be can we trust the guy who nuked the program (RR) to fix this or a new guy to fix this. Its not like the program is on the verge of being good or even competitive. Its the doormat of the Big Ten. RR himself has made this a valid question because his team is awful and getting worse by the game. Coaching at the very least is about teaching and showing improvement. Did UM improve this year? Not a chance and please do not say the offense improved. It didn't. It was just as awful as last year. Last season it was a "new thing", whats the excuse this year. If UM is going to be bad for a long time, may as well have a new coach that brings some hope for the future. RR plus more time is no hope for the future.
I Waited all Summer for This??
RR brought this upon himself. He is totally responsible for this mess and cannot blame anybody but himself. The powers to be would leave him alone if he wins. He would be left along if there was some progress. But to get throttled week in and week out, is not acceptable. He has done nothing to earn respect from anybody except Bill Martin. As far as winning at his next gig, that may be true but he will never get a "big" coaching job again. His future in coaching will be at smaller, lesser schools that are off the map. Cant feel sorry for him because he will walk away from UM with millions. He owns this train wreck and should embrace it. Its his and his alone.
RR/Martin
Lets be honest, the only thing keeping RR employed is Bill Martin. RR is a dead coach walking. UM administration will wait as long as possible to bring in the new AD which unltimately gives RR the one year "he so deperately needs to put in his system". No AD worth his salt will accept the job on the condition of having to keep RR in place. However, the new AD will not pull the plug on RR right away because he will not have the time to do it. But he will pull the plug in exactly 53 weeks from today. RR does not get on the bus back to AA after the Columbus beatdown next year and puts an exclamation point on an 0-8 conference schedule. Thats the best we can hope for. The calendar has turned into our best friend towards ending this nightmare better known as the RR era.
Next Year
Regardless of a new coach or not, the one position that should be open for competition is QB. Forcier has done everything humanly possible to not be the starter. I've never seen a team win with a strategy of turning the ball over 4 times a game. Thats a stratgey RR embraces apparently. Robinson with his few chances is a turnover machine as well. The stupidity of the QB play is absurd. Sorry boys, your level of play is stupid. So, with such a long, long list of things to improve, ball security has to be #1 on the list. What a disgrace today.

RR
I truly feel he gets another year but does not deserve it. The new AD will make it clear next fall that he is not a friend of RR's. He pretty much gets a win or else ultimatum. Enough is enough. I'm hoping the next headline or breaking news story is "RR is OUT". Thats the only good thing that can come from this game and this season. If its going to take time to fix this mess then let somebody else do it.
