Why I want U of Mum to go 0-forever....

'I suppose you think RR has done better? At least Lloyd Carr recruited near the top for several years prior to retirement. He left them for RR and what good did it do?" Jock

It's a proven fact that Carr left the cupboard pretty bare. He left when his seniors did. Mallett left for greener pastures and is doing well. He left for the same reason Foles left MSU - didn't think he was a fit for the system. Boren left and good riddance. Manningham and Arrington left for the NFL. Others left because they too didn't feel they would be a fit.

RR was hired to put a new system in place. Not a rebuild nor a retool, but an entirely new system. With the exception of Graham, Minor and maybe Stevie Brown, can you name me the outstanding recruits that Carr left in the cupboard?

Criticism? I asked a legitimate question. The Spartans were picked to finish I think third in the BT and did not. I felt the loss of Winston was a very big blow to your program, but Baker was a nice surprise. Your wide receivers, White and Cunningham are very good as is Cousins. I was impressed with the way Nichols handled the last few plays of the game against PSU. He is a mobile QB, much more so than Cousins. Some of your fans felt that the dual QB system didn't work. Was that the case? I think the system can work if done right.

No I am not now, nor ever have been envious of your team. I've always cheered for the Spartans with the exception of when they play us. I've defended them when the obnoxious Michigan drive-bys have come on here after your loss to Iowa and CMU. Go back and check my posts.

A few of your fans were thinking possibly a BCS bowl at the beginning of the year. Last year you played against Georgia in the Capitol One Bowl New Years Day. And you are right, those were mostly John L's players. MD now has two years worth of his recruits under his belt so I believe the recruiting question was legitimate.

I would be less than honest if I said I'm not disappointed that Michigan is not going bowling. But I've also previously said that even at 6-6, which included DSU, that we didn't deserve a bowl. DSU was no challenge. Again go back and check my posts.

And being a realist, which tempers my optimism, deep down I knew this would be another rough year and I was right. Next year should be better because then RR will have two years of his recruits and things should get turned around.

Maybe because my question was in response to Morgan's perpetual nastiness against Michigan that you thought I was taking MD to task. That was not the case. Morgan always has an opinion, I was just asking him the question.

So now, since Morgan doesn't have the courtesy to answer a direct question, I am asking you the same question I asked him. What, in your opion, happened??

Morgan, maybe not this year, but the next.

By the way, have you figured out the reason that the Spartans are playing in a lesser bowl than they did last year in Dantanio's third season? Is he too waiting for his team to mature or his new recruits?

Michigan Fans

Yooper

There are 108,000+ fans that attended the game yesterday. Your friend was hassled by what, a handful of fans? So that act automatically puts the 107,990+ fans in the same category? That doesn't even begin to make sense.

Was he dressed as a soldier when this happened? Or as a Buckeye fan? You seem to put forth the reasoning that since he is a Vet, this should have never happened. How did that handful of fans know he was a Vet? Him being a Vet really has nothing to do with it. Him being a Buckeye fan is where it is at.

For the hundreds of thousands of fantastic, classy Michigan fans who attend these games, please pass on our apologies to your friend the Buckeye Veteran. It shouldn't have happened and your friend was man enough to ignore the incident. You should learn from him.

I live in Columbus Yooper and I read the papers down here after the games. I've posted the amount of money it costs the City for extra police, firemen etc. to patrol before and after the game to hunt out the nasty fans who threaten a 70 year old Texas fan and her family with physical harm, the urine filled condom tossers and the vandals who love to damage vehicles with out of state plates.

Do not ever put our fans in this category. You come down here next year, wear your Maize and Blue to the game, drive your vehicle plastered with Michigan signs, and tell me that they treat you like a friend. Until you do that, do not compare our great classy fans with those of the Buckeye nation.

Tiny Tate

ZING!!!!! Good one Anakin.

Morgan, you really need to get rid of some of that hate you have for Michigan. It is not good for your soul.

And it really does no good to belabor the fact that we were not as good as we expected to be this year. We know that. We now have to look forward, not backward. I, for one, will start watching film and reading about the upcoming recruiting class that has verbally committed to Michigan. I would think you would want to do the same while waiting for your bowl game.

Good luck in your bowl game wherever you may end up. You made it to a bowl and get the extra practice time and for that you should be happy.

Take some of that happiness and erase some of the hate you feel. It can't hurt to try.

Now I am really out - Sassy (dog) is sitting here staring at me to go.

One more post then I am gone!

A couple of serious questions and they are not meant to be argumentative.

First - for all the Spartan faithful - Can someone explain to me, since I wasn't that informed about Spartan football until I joined this forum, why MD let Foles escape MSU. That guy is one awesome, got his head together QB.

Second - This for you Buckeye - Watched another Oregon win last night and they are definitely the real deal. I think the announcers said Oregon has to beat Oregon State for the roses. So if they do and the Buckeyes have to play Oregon do you think the Buckeyes have a chance to contain the speed and accruacy of that spread offense? Their QB is awesome and a joy to watch. And, uniforms have nothing to do with this question my friend, but I agree with you, they were bland.

Especially for Michigan fans - myself included!!!

By the way, I did have to edit some of the language this gentleman used. I was told that if there is offensive language in an article that you cut and paste, you will be thrown off the Forum.

Well I like posting on here and if I am going to get thrown off, I want it to because of my words and not someone elses.

Just wanted to clear that up in case you go to Rivals to verify my post.

Other than that I am headed to the Dog Park with my dog to enjoy another Indian Summer day.

Have a great day all!

Especially for Michigan fans - myself included!!!

In light of all the in-fan arguments that are currently happening on this forum, I thought this post from a LOGICAL Michigan fan needed to be passed on!!!

This post was taken from the Rivals board yesterday after the game. When I read it, I thought - Wow - someone just hit the nail on the head.

"I think that most of the catfighting among fans is due to the fact that we can't do jack about anything that happens on and off the field. we either support or don't support.

Some complain about RR and want him run out of town with pitchforks and nooses. Others will bend over backwards to show unconditional support. And now, when we realize that we have zero control over UM's football program, we lash out at each other.

I am as emotionally invested in this program as the next UM fan but I realized a long time ago that my vote doesn't count towards anything relevant.

Today sucked. last year sucked. everything after the Indiana game sucked(well, the DSU game universally rocked). I'm the grumpiest guy in captivity when Michigan loses. my girl and my kids won't come within a hundred feet of me. AAAAAAANNNNNNNDDDD I live in merry old Columbus, Ohio and work with Buckeye Nazis. And those who aren't OSU fans root for WVU and ND. I deal with so much garbage from all angles on a day to day basis just for rooting for Michigan. But that's easy compared to arguing with fans of the team you actually root for.

RR is going to get another year at least. All the in-fighting in the world among the fanbase isn't going to change that.We all invest our time and money in the program but, truthfully, Michigan doesn't owe us anything. I know that most of us feel a sense of entitlement because we post on message boards and wear block M ballcaps but the University of Michigan owes us zilch.

This isn't a pro or anti RR post. This is a pro fan post. I just want us to stop arguing and name-calling on message boards over things we can't control. No one likes losing(and if you do.......well...dang) but this isn't helping.

The players played their hearts out today. For the first time since WMU(and the aforementioned, universally awesome DSU game),the defense wasn't the weak link. BG just earned a top ten draft slot. Roundtree is the future. VS ran well. Tate had a billion turnovers but we wouldn't even have been in the game without him. The seniors gave their all. We should focus on that instead of having p------ contests over something we can't control."

MSU

Good luck to the Spartans today as they battle Penn State.

Just like Michigan the Spartans also need to throw out the playbook of dumb plays, lay it all on the line and kick some PSU butt!!!

Enjoy the game Sparty posters and may you be playing somewhere a little warmer than Detroit come bowl time.

Lady Blue and everyone

Good Morning Gobluwho

I woke up this morning feeling very positive about today's game. Being as down as the team and fans are now, we have nothing to lose and everything to gain today. We need to pull out all the stops, throw out the playbook of stupid plays and just go out there and kick some butt!

I am going to apologize if I offended you, PC or Patton about your feelings of frutstation with RR. I am frustrated about the circus that is being caused by someone in the Michigan old guard and I am 'spittin nails' angry that the press expounds so negatively on each and every little thing that comes up about our program. I hate to say it, but the Columbus Dispatch shows more respect for Michigan than the Freep and News does. Now that is really sad.

Your post was excellent gbw and you said what I was trying to get across but in a much shorter version than my short story. Great job and much respect.

It sure is tough being a Michigan fan these days. But we all must stick together and stand tall and strong as the Michigan Nation.

Welcome to the Big House Bucks!

Bucky, I knew that was a joke. I have great respect for you and have since I read your first post. I respect many of the posters on here and really hope to meet a lot of them next year an UM - MSU game. That is if I am invited to JG's fabulous tailgate!

I just used your post to lead in to my rebuttal to Kleats.

Do the dishes indeed - isn't that what they make diswashers for???

Bucky/Lady Blue eyes

Clancy,

I don't believe I've had the pleasure of posting your way. TC says you are aces and I believe him. So - good to post you!

Nowhere did I even mention you. I specifically mentioned PC, Patton and Gobluewho. The three of them totally did the 180 after last week's loss. They went from defenders of RR and his program to well just read their posts. I worded it wrong and as I pointed it out to Bucky clarified my post. I don't question their loyalty to the school just to the coach.

Why did it take so many losses before they turned? If I were doubtful abour RR, I would have turned if not after the Illini loss definitely after Purdue at home. I was at the Purdue game and yes, I didn't like some of the play calls. Should have taken the field goal with five minutes left and should have gone on 4th & 1. Sending the punting team out with 10 seconds left on the clock was stupid by the coaches and cost us a penalty for delay of game. Yes they screwed up. But then so did the refs on that illegal pass call when Brown, I think made that great lateral to put us at the goal line. We also got a crap call on the Wiscy goal line stance. Graham had him stopped, that would have given our guys one heck of a boost! I'm not saying the outcome of these game would have been guaranteed wins, but the morale boost would have been great for the kids.

I stand by what I say. When I am wrong I do admit it and when there is confusion I do try and clarify it.

I think, barring NCAA major violations, that RR will be here for another year. And as I've said many times before, he will need a winning year or he will more than likely be gone and I will be in agreement with that decision. He has only one year of his recruits, he needs more time.

Everyone expected him to do a WV thing and take the team to a winning season. But that was the Big East - this is the Big Ten. He thought he could use the same size defense he did there. He has constantly said this year he need to beef up the lines. He knows he made the mistake, he now need to rectify it.

The interesting thing for me will be if we win tomorrow, and that would be a major upset, will the RR dissenters be happy and rethink their opinion of him, or will they say it is a fluke. And if we show vast improvement in 2010, will these same RR dissenters then embrace him and his coaching skills? I would hope so.

I am the eternal optimist guys and I will never change. I always try to find the silver linings, although I've had to hunt pretty hard this year. But in every game I will find an improvement be it by a player, players, a walk-on playing well or a good call by a coach.

Buckeye

As far as I know I am the only lady on here. If there are others, I am not aware of them.

Hey maybe there are doing dishes just like Kleats expects them to do.

Coach, you live in Heath, I live in Blacklick. We are 25 miles apart. How about we meet in the middle, have a few beers, talk sports and see just who is the most knowledgeable about the current state of Michigan football. Oh and make sure you bring your wife, if you have one, because I am sure she would just love to hear what you believe she is best suited to do as a woman.

And when it is all said and done, loser does the dishes.

Are you game? Or will you pull a Bluska?

PC

My statement about 'jumping ship' and your loyalty was in no way directed at your loyalty to the University of Michigan. You are indeed a staunch supporter of UM, that was never in question.

I feel that you've 'jumped off of RR's ship'. For months you and the others have supported him and defended him to the max. Now, your loyalty to him is gone. No matter what PC, he is our coach.

If they bring Harbaugh in for next year, we will be starting at square one. It will be 2008 all over again. And please remember when Harbaugh started at Stanford for the first two years, his record was similar to RR's. Kelly is a good coach, but he is in the same mold as RR â€" successful wherever he went â€" put his team in bowls in the Big East â€" the difference being he has more experience as a head coach, but at smaller schools.

We have our own opinions on this subject and that is ok. We are also loyal fans to UM and I am sure we have the same objective â€" our team needs to become cohesive again and start winning.

Now wouldn't it be grand if this process started tomorrow at Noon!

Go Blue
