can you name me the outstanding recruits that Carr left in the cupboard?
Ike: Good effort, but what do you notice with a goo chunk of the recruits you mentioned?
Roundtree, Robinson, Khoury, Shaw, Stonum, Moore, Odoms, Robinson, Fitzgerald and ONeill off the top of my head, were recruited by RR, not Carr. Witherspoon, never joined. In fact, RR did a heck of a job closing out the last few months of that recruiting class.
Cissoko, maybe 4* but he couldn't play or maintain academic eligibility. Threet left because he didn't want the competition and was not a spread QB. Forget about Mallet (was not going to stay, there are articles) and wouldn't fit. I am not sure how things played out w/ Manningham, Arrington, have heard versions on why they left. Everyone has heard the Boren story and counterpoints by his team mates, most recently Graham.
Bottom line, is that transfers are inevitable when a new coach joins for a host of reasons. So mentioning players who are not here is not accurate unless you have reasonable proof that the coach told/forced them to pack their bags. Do I think RR could have managed the transition better, yes. But is strictly an impression, I don't have anything to warrant that on.
On the defensive side of the ball there are some good players on the line, which was not the big problem. LB play was poor but is a fair point of discussion, maybe a coaching issue. Besides Warren on the secondary, who was decent not great, the secondary left much to be desired. Again coaching can be called into question. Star rating is only a measure of a player's projected ability, watching the product on the field is what counts.
Defensively, the team grossly underperformed, coaching should be called into question. But the 3rd coach in 3 years, which can be pinned on RR, is not a good formula for stability. Next year will tell the story as it will be 2 years under GRob.

mgz; Don't be in too much of a rush, I think RR will end up getting a decent recruiting job. There are 5 scholarships open and Michigan is sitting pretty good w/ quite a few good kids. I expect to hear a commitment or two this week. I will be very satisfied if the class ends up strong. No matter who is coaching, strong recruits are the life blood of a good program.
Big get
mick: That kid for the OL is a good get.

reasonable: I know OSU wasn't on MSU's schedule, I just meant they are considered to be amongst the better teams (the best) in the conference. Michigan ran up 28 on Iowa w/ 5 TO's i.e. the spread scored more than MSU's traditional style. That was the entire point any offense will work if executed properly.
Against Michigan, Tater tied the game and forced an OT. Against Wisc MSU was trailing 38-17 until 2:03 remaining on the clock. The last TD was w/ 15 seconds remaining. There was realistically no possibility of a W or even an OT. I don't understand criticizing Michigan's offense when MSU's was not much better, if any at all against those opponents.
CMU: You are not being consistent. First you say that you need to play a full 60 minutes and then point out CMU was pretty much a fluke. Can't have it both ways. CMU played the full 60 minutes.
I'm out on this subject.Lions
Trailing 24-10 to the frickin BROWNS. Only the LIONS :(

It's fun sharing and exchanging thoughts w/ a majority on this forum. A lot of good posters and good folk. Keep the faith, Michigan will be back.

Bonehead: No disagreement w/ you last post. No D = no W. I also agree that Cousins is a better QB than Tate. Shoelace is not a QB. What RR needs for this offense is a passing athlete i.e. Pat White clone. To that effect DRob just needs to get to the point of being a viable passing threat and I think he will fare better than Tate in this system. Gardener looks like the real deal and is likely to make a strong push for the starting job.
On the RB's, I disagree, Minor is a very good RB but is injury prone. I would rate him right at the top or close enough to it in the B10. Brown is not Minor.

You'll have to follow the start of the thread. MSU was owned by Wisc, don't look at the final score. I think 13 or 14 of those pts came in the last 2 minutes when the game was over. Same thing against PSU. I am pointing out that MSU did not fare significantly better against the so called "better competition in the B10 (Iowa, Wisc, PSU, OSU) " for some posters to be constantly ripping on Michigan's spread offense. Michigan moved the ball pretty well against OSU, but TO's killed them. I will also concede Tate was OVERHYPED, but came back to earth quickly after hitting that rookie wall. I am as guilty of that as anyone.
The offense can work in the B10, it depends on talent, execution and coaching. Purdue hung big points on MSU. CMU beat them w/ a spread offense. I am not saying this to be petty, I am just saying there is more than way to win. The one constant on which I agree is that w/o a defense you cannot win consistently. To that end Michigan's defense was non-existent. I am confident that next season Michigan will put up points, I am not confident they will be able to stop anybody.

Bonehead: What math is now a convenience? What did MSU put up against Iowa? How about against Wisc? 17 pts until the last 2 minutes? How about PSU? Blow out, 7 pts in the last 2 minutes. Spin it any you want.
Tiny Tate
I'm not talking about points when the game was basically decided i.e. last 2 minutes against Wisc.
Tiny Tate
Did you also note that MSU scored a combined lower point total against Wisc, Iowa and PSU vs. Michigan. Guess even Tiny Tate w/ a sputtering Michigan O is better than what MSU was able to put up against the "toast" of the B10. Do the math, that is a fact.

Why the heck is this kid texting AP about losing the game? RR has to take this kid aside and tell him to keep his yap shut unless he is specifically asked. Quiet leadership works just fine.

"I lost that game," Forcier said in a text message to the Associated Press not long after the game. "This offseason, I'm gonna make sure myself and every single person on this team works the hardest we have ever worked.
"We're gonna come back a new team. I'm not going to let this happen again."

WINNING was the key word. His posts were generally benign when Michigan was winning, then Michigan earned his scorn when they started losing big.
I saw the red jerseys in the game footage, I will have to confirm the actual number w/ some of my friends who attended. I have read various accounts of the number. It would have been nice seeing sparse pockets of scarlet, but kudos to the Bucknuts for supporting their team.
In general I would agree with the sentiment of "shame on any Michigan fan who sells their ticket to a hated rival". Give it to a student if you are not attending.

I know he does not like MSU or the Lions. He seems to like Michigan when they are winning.
