TC...
safely arrived at my part of the mountain here in NEPA late last evening. Had a very good visit, and he had the opportunity to meet my darling bride today. Then off to an appointment to talk about a fundraising opportunity involving his book with a local association I belong to. I thought the meeting went pretty well. We'll see what comes of it in the next few weeks after the association board members have their next meeting. Then we parted ways, as TC set off for a bookstore he had contacted prior to coming here. TC is a geniunely good guy, and I wish him success in his venture.
UM - RR
BBob - all goes well here. Awaiting TC's arrival this evening on his grand book tour. As far as UM, don't forget that they have redshirted big Will Campbell. He'll be on the field next year, along with any other kids RR can recruit. Will he recruit enough on that side? Time will tell, but he deserves at least next year.
UM - RR
The die was cast two years ago when RR was hired. UM signed up, whether they realized it or not at the time, to a tear-down and rebuild of the program. At this point, this is water over the dam. Going forward, UM has two choices: start all over again and suffer the consequences in both recruiting and talent levels, or give the man the chance to complete the journey. Will he be able to complete that journey? Year two is a little early to make that judgment, imo. UM can score points, and in a hurry when they are on. Can they stop the other team, particularly in the second half? That is the question to be answered. I say he should get one more year to show he can deliver on that side of the ball. If not, every UM fan has every right to call for a change. In the meantime, it does make for good theater for the rest of us. Spoken as someone who has seen his school suffer the same stuff all too often.
Picks
If only it would shoot the buck, then clean and dress it. Now that would be sumtin'. Add in making the venizon sausage and you would have the next BIGGEST thing.
Prediction
That's RICH, Mike! A little humor can go a long way now and then.
Picks
Well, the time has come to make my predictions. Tomorrow will be a busy day, as TC is on his way here today to begin his grand book sale tour. BTW, TC heads to Elmark territory after he leaves here. I am happy to open my home to a great person to help him on his quest. Here goes:
OSU 38, UM 17 - The Buckeyes just too much on both sides of the line for the Wolverines to overcome with emotion. UM will score points, but not enough to make this a close game.
MSU 20, PSU 17 - It comes down to a Swenson field goal to win a close, hard-fought game.
Can I get some travelling music for the Zags
Ike, all I can say is "No dissent here."
Great come back win for the GREEN
No dissension on our part, is there?
Summers
Money down the stretch. Good win against a pretty solid team. Their inside guys will give many teams some tough games.
Patton Have you lost it?
I do too. I trust the printed dictionary much more than I do any on-line source. Until I see in the printed dictionary, it doesn't exist. I guess we must agree to disagree.
Patton Have you lost it?
Lady - I looked in my Webster's. There is no word listed as dissention, period. It does not exist. Dissent does; dissension does; no dissention.
Bucky
Most spread teams can develop the offensive side of the game pretty quickly. The offense has the advantage of knowing what they plan to do while the defense has to recognize tendencies and react. Whether RR will develop the defense needed for success in the Big Ten remains to be seen. He deserves at least next year to see if he can show improvement on that side of the ball. He did, after all, redshirt his top recruit, Campbell, to give the kid time to develop his game. Now, if next year at this time we see similar late game collapses and a dis-organized defense, then every UM supporter has every right to demand RR's head on a platter, imo.
Actually, WC...
it's dissension. Oops!
WOW!
Can you folks arguing the UM coaching situation pause and take a deep breath? Some of us would like to post about tonight's big game at the Brez. This will be a good test for State's young bigs. We match up pretty well on the perimeter, but the Zags are pretty big down low. Should be a good, entertaining game. Go GREEN!
ADW
You have the best chance to dethrone Ike, as there aren't as many points to be had this weekend.
