Tony Gerdeman says Root for Indiana
Why the interest, you ask? Well, with an Ohio State win over Michigan and an Indiana win over Purdue, the Wolverines will finish dead last in the Big Ten standings. If that's not incentive, I don't know what is. It's worth like 1,000 fan bucks redeemable in the face of any Michigan fan you ever have the displeasure of running into. Of course, before you redeem those fan bucks, you must realize that 87% of Michigan fans will have no idea what you're talking about because they don't follow their team. And the other 13% will agree with you just because they always have this need to be right. They are probably the worst subset of people you could ever encounter--short of southerners, of course.
Ya Gotta Love Earle Bruce
"We want to beat them every year, every year, every year," Bruce said. "I'm all for five in a row, six in a row, seven in a row, and I'd be fine with a couple of good coaches getting fired. That wouldn't be bad either."
My sentiments exactly, Coach.
Go Bucks! Pound Blue!!
Superblue is Right
Brandon Graham is one fine defensive player. Possibly the best in the Big Ten at defensive end. The problem is that he cannot play defensive end, middle linebacker and defensive back at the same time. He will, no doubt, be his usual disruptive self in the game on Saturday.
Now to the matter of Justin Boren. I predict that he will show up at game time in a very ugly mood. His younger brother, Zach, will also show up in a very ugly mood. Their father will also show up at the stadium in a very ugly mood. That does not bode well for Michigan.
This promises to be a very good game for the first half. I, personally, don't see Michigan hanging around in the second half if it plays out like past performances.
Buckeyes 28 UofM 10
Why Mgozebra
Must you persist in this rhetoric about the Wolvrines beating the Buckeyes? Look, the Bucks are coming off of a seven day stretch where they beat PSU and Iowa. They are tired, weary, and looking for a break. This is the perfect chance for the Wolverines to be perfect hosts and help the Buckeyes achieve their goal of an undisputed B10 championship. You darn well know that if the shoe were on the other foot, the Bucks would lie down for you guys. Show some compassion, my good man. Go Bucks! Pound Blue!!
Bumstead
Would you mind repeating that? :)
Buckeye money says they put up 42 vs. Wolverines
Wow! This guy is brimming with confidence, eh. I consider myself to be a confident fan but really. How about this Mgozebra, I will wager you a sixpack even up. Playing in AA will no doubt intimidate the Buckeyes dramatically. If they can overcome that obstacle, it will be a very close game. Always is up there. On second thought, maybe you should give me some points. Think seriously about this offer to collect from another gullible Buckeye.
Speaking of Basketball
Saw this in the C'bus Dispatch and though it was interesting. Hope that you do too. This is in reference to the 2010 OSU class.
"They make up the No. 1 class in the country, according to ESPN.com, Rivals.com and Scout.com.
"I don't know if you can truly draw the parallel between" 2010 and 2006," Matta said. "That class, out of the five, there's four playing in the NBA right now (Oden, Mike Conley Jr., Daequan Cook and Othello Hunter), three of whom would be seniors."
But Matta added, "We got what we needed not only for next year but for the future."
Sullinger, the most-dominant post player in the 2010 class, is the highest-rated of the six -- No. 2 by ESPN Scouts Inc. -- and was the first to commit, in May 2007. He in turn helped persuade Thomas, Sibert, Craft and Weatherspoon to join him. Sullinger, Sibert, Craft and Weatherspoon played on an All-Ohio Red team that won AAU age-group national championships the past three summers".
Superblue sez:
"Oh if I could I'd play and on EVERY play I would pound, tackle or run over every maggot I could. I would not care about the score or anything else. When the game was over I'd have Wisconsin and Ohio State players saluting me at the end of the game"
Boy am I glad you aren't in uniform infecting this current Michigan team with enthusiasm like that. That is downright scary!! Please wait until after November 21 before spreading this nonsense. :=).
Mgozebra
You make some excellent points in your analysis of the OSU/PSU game. I realize that I am biased but I feel that the Bucks are the more talented team. Does the more talented team always win? Heck no. PSU usually plays a flawless game which makes it very difficult. If Pryor is able to control the offense, I like our chances. Should be interesting. Bucks-17 PSU- 10. Go Bucks! Go Spartans!!
Why oh Why
Did you have to bring up that Purdue game Lady Blue?? You just reopened an old wound that was starting to heal!! Ouch!
What It All Means according to Tony Gerdeman
Tony Gerdeman, who writes for Ozone, had these comments following the UM/Ill debacle. The guy is usually pretty astute and funny.
"It means the Wolverines were destroyed by a team that had already quit this season. They basically had to come out of retirement and they STILL pounded Michigan.
To put it another way (because it's fun), the Wolverines were blown out in a game where the home crowd was actually booing their own team! That's a pretty remarkable turnaround. The Illini were so bad that fans were unhappy enough to make it known that they thought their team sucked. And Michigan lost to this team by 25 points".
Buckeye 1
That game last weekend has really dampened my enthusiasm for football this year. When does B10 basketball begin?? Go Bucks! Go Spartans!!
Lady Blue
No disrespect but I doubt that anyone on this forum believes that Tate is 6'1" and weighs 188#. He is in dire need of the Barwis regimen asap.
Bucky - a serious question
Please allow me to get my two cents worth in here NEPA. OSU has only played Cincy six(6) times in history. OSU has won all six contests. They did play them in 1999, 2002, 2004, and 2006. Cincy has always been basically a basketball school and were a thorn in the Buckeyes side in 1961 and 62 when they defeated Lucas, Havlicek et al for the NCAA championship.
As you mentioned, they have only been playing serious football for the past eight or ten years. I would rather doubt that they would be too wild about playing the Buckeyes on a regular basis in football. If they should become a perennial power in football then it might be a possibility. I personally doubt that will ever happen with the frequent turnover in coaching.
Big Cee
I admire and respect what Tate has done thus far. He is a gamer, period. He was, however, favoring his right shoulder at the end of the game which was obvious. I still have nightmares of Art Schlichter getting hit from the blindside by Keena Turner many years ago. He did not get up. Not pretty. I wish Tate the best of luck and look forward to seeing him on Nov. 21 as mentioned before.
