when in Rome....
The RR quote that was telling was after the ND game. He said, "They were eating peanuts off our helmets". He was, of course, referring to the gigantor O-line and UM's mini-me D-line. Not sure the ratio of RR's guys were/are there,(Grahamanator-Carr, Roh your boat-RR) but that was kind of a welcome to big boy football.(2nd year no less)
Oof! Molson and havarti don't mix.
Rivalry games: UM-MSU, OSU; MSU-UM, PSU; OSU-UM, __?(Youngstown State?)
Poor sentimental Angie, sniff, you'd cry if they hung ya with a new rope. Wait, they are. (my dad's a leftie, I never sat/sit on his left during dinner)
Bobcat-was down yer way today. I had to duck for cover with all the gun's blazin'.
Picks
MSU 31
PSU 24
OSU 42
U of M 24
------------------------------
U of M has a chance...
I agree it's slim, but they are down and out... They could reverse a big portion of the seasons pain in one fell swoop... The Buck's have only a long win streak riding on this. Some motivation against a rival or should we now say "once upon a time" rival... It's not meaningless to the Buck's but a win certainly couldn't approach what a win would mean for the Wolvies... The Buck's will need to show up and play hard. The Wolvies will. If the Buck's bring their "A" game it will be a blowout. But it's possible they show up with something less. If so, this could be interesting. Michigan can score with that offense. They've proven that. But, the 2009 Wolvie defense is in big trouble if Pryor starts his scramble running... They will look like swiss cheese with extra holes...
We will see... It's why they play the game...
RR Supporters
Lots of the same old stuff week in and week out. Give him time, cupboard was bare, not his recruits, proven winner, change is hard, wait and see and on and on and on. Oh, I like this one too, if RR is fired what do you do then? The problem is, nobody believes he can do it except for a vocal minority. Two years of getting throttled week in and week out will do that. There were/are enough pieces in place to field a competitive team and the last thing UM is right now is competitive. What are the supporters going to say after next season when RR/UM goes winless in the Big Ten. Yes, I repeat, they will be 0-8 in the conference in 2010. Do you give him another year then? As painful and unfair as it may be, you need to make the change now. Sure it will take a few years for the "next" guy to fix the mess RR left behind but I trust a "new" guy to fix this problem than RR. If its going to take a few years, then why let RR, who has the support of nobody other than the idiot and lame duck Martin, be the coach. 9-3, 8-4 and boring beats 3-9 and awful anyday of the week and another season with RR at the helm is another wasted season and only prolongs the inevitable. The mistake was hiring RR in the first place, a worse mistake is to let the RR era continue past tomorrow.
UM flag on OSU campus
"""""Michigan flag on OSU campus: Michigan infiltrators raised a Wolverine flag on Ohio State's campus on Thursday morning and sent a photo of the flag outside Ohio State's Orton Hall to several members of the media.
Josiah Dhaenens, an Ohio State senior and the president of the student Block O association, was angered.
"Orton Hall is a special place, so that's totally disrespectful in my eyes," Dhaenens said, citing the Hall's connection to the OSU alma mater, Carmen Ohio. "When I found out where it was, I said that's not cool at all."
At a Block O meeting on Thursday night, Dhaenens said the group planned no retribution beyond the 55 members of the club already planning to bus to Saturday's game at 5:30 a.m.
"We're just going to show how our group of 55 people can be louder than their student section of 20,000 as we beat them," he said. """"""""
Shut Up and Play The Game!
And GO BLUE!!
Shut Up and Play The Game!
All this anti-RR/doom ranting by UM fans is just BS right now. For cripe's sake, just enjoy the game and the atmosphere tomorrow. This rivalry is so much more than about the score tomorrow, or the last few years, or the current coach, or the change in offensive scheme - it's about the history and everything that's led up to this game. Maybe go to youtube and watch some Bob Ufer and Bo Schembechler clips to jog your memory. The crowd at the diag tonight has the right idea.
After 3:00pm EST tomorrow feel free to post all the hateful, spiteful crud you want for the next 8 months. But you alleged UMers posting some of the junk I've been reading today sound more like buckeyes to me.
Boren: from a osu players view
""""""""When we first heard it, we were thinking, 'wow, this is ridiculous, is somebody from Michigan really about to come here and transfer and play with us?'" Worthington said this week. "It was kind of funny early because he had been in maize and blue so long, we didn't know if he was a little infiltrator. But he shows his loyalty every day, and it'll be good to go play with him Saturday."
He'll be a starting at left guard in consecutive rivalry games at the Big House, once in each jersey, a change of attire that nearly every current Buckeye asked found impossible to imagine for themselves, going from Ohio State to Michigan.
"Never in a million years would I think that," OSU senior defensive lineman Lawrence Wilson said. "Never in a million years."
"We talked a little bit during the game and it wasn't great words," Worthington said. "Now we go out there and see how good of a kid he is, knowing he fits our mold of a scarlet and gray offensive lineman. We've got one of their best lineman. ... I call him Baby Huey because he's only 21 years old and he's huge and strong. This is a team that he played for and it obviously didn't go well for him, and he probably has a little bit of bad blood with that maize and blue, so it'll be good to see Boren go out there and just be able to rip some guys apart."""""""
I've got an idea
How about if all you guys that want to fire RR just start cheering for the Spartans? And the next time UM beats MSU you can jump back on board the band wagon. By the way, I'll need to find out from Captain Morgan what became of Old Yeller Two band wagon.
Better get rid of the idiot now
jjdunbar, you're just like all them other brainless Rodriguez defenders. "Give him time", "the cupboard was empty", "we were always mediocre, this guy will make us great". Give me a break. The simple truth is" Dick Rodriguez came here over-confident and OVER-RATED. Bill Martin fell for the BS from him and the national media. The guy couldn't even recruit decent players when he was on the honeymoon with the fawning media. Now that he has been seen for the fraud that he is, recruiting top players will be near impossible. And make no mistake about it, recruiting is the name of the game. Wait another year? The two years he has been here has set us back 4, one more year will be disaster for this storied program.
If RR is fired then what??
What is the truth then? He hasn't been found guilty of any violations. Could he? Sure. Could he not? Sure.
Is he gutting the program from top to bottom? Yes. Does this happen in less than 2 years? No.
The guy needs more than 2 seasons to do what he was hired to do.
unemployment rate just went up
Iverson was just waived and it doesn't appear anyone is going to hire him. Hopefully he will find a job soon.
If RR is fired then what??
That is a blanket statement that does not cover the truth.
not to rub noses in dirt
But what a difference three years makes. I am watching #2 UM beating #1 OSU by 7 in the 2006 game.
Bucky/Lady Blue eyes
