Incentives For Teachers???

Isn't a salary and a decent job enough anymore? Now we have to pass incentives to teachers, they are sounding more and more like the children they are responsible for training.

What next, they want a new laptop and iPod too?

Incentives for Teachers?!

I definitely hope that these funds aren't from the Promise Schoolarhsip that was taken away from college students. It's ironic (and simply unbelieveable) that college graduates are receiving funds that would be more useful to the thousands of undergrads that don't have a single penny to their name. Personally, I feel offended that I got my scholarship taken away and that graduates who at least have a stable salary are getting more financial aid than me. Thanks Michigan, you've done it again.

Urbanity...

Ya gotta decide...is my life worth $30,000? Is it worth the risk? NO.

math teachers

I understand this is a grant, but it is just a testament to how clueless Granholm is about the economic conditions our schools are facing. Math and science teachers are getting laid off, just like other teachers in Michigan. I can personally name five math teachers that cannot find a job. On another note, a very close friend of mine is a math teacher in a decent district and teaches AP calculus. She had 17 of her 19 students pass the AP exam. She didn't even get a "good job" or pat on the back for it. Luckily, that isn't her motivation, but why stay in teaching? Even when you are successful you are still treated like you are "below" every other profession.

Does this job come with an armored car and bodyguards?

Threading in forums

We are working on adding threading to the forums. Clicking on the headline of a post will now get you related posts in a few different ways.

- If the post was sent to us in response to an article, clicking on that post's headline will retrieve all comments on that article, and clicking on the "See related article" link will send you to the article itself.

- If the comment was submitted in response to a cybersurvey, clicking on the headline will take you to the cybersurvey and its related comments.

- If you click on the headline of a forum post that was simply posted in the forum, you will get all posts with that same headline.

If you want to add a comment to a thread in the forum, use the same headline as the post to which you want to respond.

If you find a problem, please tell us, and thanks in advance for your patience as we work to improve the forums for you.
