I always thought girls were smarter than boys. People setting off bombs in public places and blowing up others' mailboxes need to be charged with domestic terrorism. That's what it is - terrorism. They set off bombs to scare people and destroy property.

4 MSU students face felonies for setting off bomb
You got to be kitting me, this is a Firecracker. Have you seen some of the Fireworks you can purchase for the 4th of July and other holidays. It could kill all right if you are holding it in your hand or it is shot directly at you. The crime is that it is an explosive that can leave the ground. That is the problem only in Michigan. There is no reason to destroy these kids lives over something like this.

Nice, I'm glad we are releasing repeat felons due to lack of money back to Detroit. But Four, White College students at MSU light a firework and they get 20 year felonies thrown at them, sounds more like the greed of the court system going after money of "TEACHING these white Kids from Middle Class Families a Lesson". Real nice Lansing Police Force....hooorah. If this is pursued I will never donate or support any police agency in this state, and I encourage others the same.
What upsets me imagine if 4 Black kids from Detroit that are non-students did the same?? Courts would check there hometown, probation and see ya....NO MONEY!! Now I'm a rascist, I said black, whatever.... sue me.

Dumbness. Placing the bomb in a yard, these people apparently did not intend major damage. If they did not intend major damage anything like 20 years in prison is absurd. Our laws in many instances are too severe. Not only that but but felony convictions eliminates most employment opportunities. Simply forever increasing the penalties for crimes is not a particularly effective deterrent. In some cases such as the severe penalties associated with rape and kidnapping may in fact motivate murder.
One are where society has gone too the other extremes is the treatment of illegal immigrants. Usually the worst penalty for the crime is deportation. In a sense that is not penalty at all just an end to the crime. A recent survey indicates the 700 million world wide want to move to another country- the U.S. is most frequently the preferred destination. Without enforcement the bad illegal immigration problem will be worse.
