Salary...thoughts...

So, I noticed on Hoopshype that our salaries have been updated. Here are some thoughts:

1. Wilcox comes pretty cheap! Cheaper than Oberto, who Joe D waived... I think Wilcox may be a throw in player in a future trade.

2. Gordon's contract is VERY good! Compare his salary to others at ~10M per year and then compare output.

3. Charlie V's contract is VERY good! I understand he has a lot to learn, but I think we have already seen his potential. Compare his salary to others at ~6.5M per year.

4. Why is it that we are at ~61M total salary (not counting to rookie contracts, which should be about 1.5-1.9M, but less than 2M)? What is the cap limit before paying the tax increase? We sure are 22nd out of 30 teams. If we had a salary similar to the Lakers we would be equally as good. We could sign 2 very good players to add to the decent team present.

Your thoughts?

Bosh Trade...think about it...

So, I just read that either Toronto resigning Bosh or orchestrating a sign-and-trade would give him the most money. Why do you think Joe D didn't hold on to his cap space for next summer? Incompetence? Maybe he has a "shake-shake-nod-nod" with Toronto. Why else would he NOT have an answer to PF/C?

So, if we trade Rip/Prince for Bosh/Amir, then waive Amir we would have an amazing team!! It is not the best, but it would fill the gaps that we were concerned about.

Bynum

Gordon

Stuckey/Day/JJ/Summers

CV

Bosh

We would be something to contend with. Do you remember when Joe D said, "we weren't suppose to be this good until next year" after winning it all in 2004. He plans!

This proposed trade would not become the answer over night. It may need some tweaking throughout the next couple years.

Your thoughts?

Get a decent big Joe.

I believe with the 3 guard line-up being so successful that Prince is exposable. One of our 3 rookies can play SF when Stuckey is not. If that is the case, we will be running and gunning. I can think of a few bigs out there that will be available this summer that would go nicely with these 3...and be able to run with them:

Amare & Lee

Can you imagine:

Bynum

Gordon

Stuckey (combo)

Lee

Amare

Leaves

Daye/Jac/Summers, Kwame for larger teams if we want to switch it up.

Get it done Joe!

4 games in...

Wasn't it 4 games in last year that the big trade went down?

Even though it doesn't fix the situation, I wonder if the stalling on Gay's contract is b/c Dumars is in the mix. I love conspiring...

Chucky Cheese

If this is true, it may be over 2 years...

Chuckie Atkins?

Do you think Chuckie Atkins will make the team, or get cut? He may be trade bait in the future. As 3rd PG the only way I see him playing is if someone gets hurt. He could get traded to another team if that teams main PG gets injured and out for the season...

Fri. 10/23/09 07:41 PM

Bigs...

What about Jarron Collins? He can be the end of the bench, but also adds an experienced big down the stretch. Can be trade bait, if needed also.

Bigs...

Do you think Joe D is watching to see if there are any valuable pick-ups on the waiver wire? If you think about it, these are guys who would have a chip on their shoulder...

How far into the season until Joe makes a trade?

I want predictions! I think it will be around Christmas. It will be a nice gift...

Mon. 10/05/09 05:09 AM

2009-10 Celtics = 2003-04 Lakers

They both stacked the team with a bunch of old guys wanting rings.

The Lakers made it all the way to the finals, but were spanked by our Pistons. Man, that was a great series to be a Piston fan...

Raja Bell

I know...too many guards...BUT...I'd do Maxiell for Raja Bell in a heart beat. Joe could make a nice trade for a big towards the end of the season for RIP and not hurt the depth at guard. Raja's contract is done after this year. Would open up space/options for next year.

PG: Stuckey, Bynum (Gordon?)

SG: RIP, Gordon, Bell

Since Joe D pretty much gave Afflalo away, I doubt this would happen, but you never know. It would all depend if Larry Brown would want Maxy.

Projected Records 2009-10

My thoughts...

Suns too high...

Nuggets, Wizards and GS too low.

Watch out for Nuggets and GS...lots of potential. Look at the depth of these teams!

Next Summer...TONS of opportunity!

My observations are these:

-Miami has NO ONE guaranteed next year...they could pull a 2004 Lakers or 2008 Celtics on us...

----Miami could end up with Bosh in J.O'Neal's place and then add most of the free agents after that. Players would just jump on waiting/hoping for a championship.

-Toronto has no room to keep Bosh, IMHO, as far as salary cap, etc. It is obvious they did not plan. I would think they would perform a late season trade to get SOME value for Bosh...it is not like anyone (except Turk) would be interested in moving to the cold north.

-Wade is FROM the Chicago area. There is rumor of him going to Chicago. They need a SG now that Ben Gordon is gone. I'm sure Hinrich could play SG this year. Can you imagine a line up of Rose, Wade, Deng, Tyrus Thomas and Noah? If not even better if they could grab better BIGs.

-Cavs plan appears to be win now and keep Lebron. I think if he wins, he will stay. Shaq will retire on top and his salary will assist the Cavs in getting a STAR (BOSH?) and to keep Lebron. Look for Lebron to NOT demand as much money b/c he already has so many endorsements that it could be an easy way to get another All-Star on the team.

Looks interesting....

Winners vs. Losers

Joe D has put a lot of winners together.

NCAA tourny winners:

Wilcox

Hamilton

Gordon

Charlie V

NBA winners (2004):

Ben Wallace

Prince

Israel League:

Bynum

Interesting how he has taken a bunch of players who can play multiple positions and combined them with players who have tasted victory at some level.
