The Real Situation
Joe Dumars has done an excellent job running the Pistons.
He brought in Players that gave us a chance to go to 6 NBA Finals.
We should have won 3 NBA Titles during the Billups-Ben Wallace Era...
Now, he is rebuildling....
He cemented the lengendary with the acquistion of Billups.
He started the reconstruction of it with the Trade of Billups.
Billups had to be traded so Stuckey could began his NBA education. In additional to the 21MIL CAP SPACE which was instrumental in Signing Gordon, and Charlie V.
Coaches:
Rick Carlise was a solid coach, but if Joe did not fire Rick; the "GREATEST BLOCK IN NBA HISTORY NEVER HAPPENS" Rick did not want to play Prince or OKUR!
Larry Brown ALA SARAH PALIN of the COACHING RANKS.....Enough SAID!
Curry in all Fairness was sold A Lemon....What could could have dealt with AI, SHEED, and RIP??????????? Only Red Aurebach with a Rope in his hand!
Once, we commence the Final Trade to bring in Chandler than we will be off and Running.....
Prince will be the Remaining Element of the Great 2000 Decade Team. Which is a perfect fit giving the potential scoring we have in The Starting Line up. Prince will be the glue to hold it all together with his Championship Experience, calm demeanor, and Veteran Leadership. But, RIP has to GO........
So, In Summary Joe has done a Hell of a Job dealing with the Pistons.... Darko became Stuckey; who cares look at all the number one bust over the history of sports....Micheal Jordan was the 3rd Pick in the 84'Draft; it is the Nature of the Business....
Next moves ...
That has to be one of the most ignorant rants in forum history. Have you considered the salary implications in that garbage you posted?
Remember, the Raptors are really big on Bosh. Trade them two in a straight up deal, the salaries work and the Pistons can still compete. Then try and sign Dice. Now consider that line-up.
Next moves ...
Amendment to "Next Moves ..."
Takes for the info on Cheik Samb. WE should then send Walter Sharpe down to the NBDL and sign Samb for a few bones.
Move Maxey and Daye to Memphis for Marc Gasol and conditional future 1st Round Pick.
Centers: Marc Gasol, Kwame, and Samb
PF: Boozer, Bass,
SF: Charlie V., Tay, Summers, Jerebko
SG: Gordon, C.J. Miles
PG: Stuckey, Bynum
Bring Back Bad Boys Committment:We Want Laimbeer Now
Its time Joe D., think of the DNA, Is Laimbeer not Piston DNA? Would he not have the backing of the fans? At least we would have a TOUGHER team, nobody coming down the middle & whoever let them would be held accountable by Laimbeer, a no-nonsense type of player & would be that way coaching & would leave it all on the court, Joe you should no this, youn played with him, don't let us down.
Thibodeau
sources say that he is being given a "look"...I'm sure there are others also....
A Johnson
Dumars tends to overreact when picking a new coach ...( to fix the flaws of the last ) Now it is experience ... (Since He SO SO BLEW IT with Curry) ... A Avery Johnson is not going anywhere for less the 5 Mill a year (he gets 4 Mill. for sitting home ) .... and i bet he wants 3 years (he has two years left at 4 Mill.)
I really don't think he is worth it ..... if he came in a bit humble maybe.
The concept that Bill Laimbeer has the same lack of experience as Curry is a joke
A he knows how to read talent. B he know how to run plays C he Knows how to lead and win............... (none of which curry had)
But I'm afraid we might get Avery as Dumars has already put himself in a tihole not realizing that Curry should have A never been hired B if he was should have been fired long before this late date .....

FA signings
Let's look at what Joe D has done.
First he traded Billups for AI, one of the worst trades in NBA history.
Now he has used our cap space to sign CV and Gordon.
Gordon is a smallish (6'1") AI type of guard; streaky and moody. OK he plays D a little better than AI but not much.
CV is a softie who likes to play on the perimeter.
Essentially Joe has traded Chauncy and Rasheed for Gordon and CV.
How does that make the Pistons a better team?
It doesn't.
I'm hoping Joe D has more up his sleeve, because this team as presently constructed won't win 40 games next season.
Cheik Samb
Is A Free Agent
Next moves ...
1. Hire Avery (as someone else said - will need to pay Avery)
2. Move Rip, Afflalo, second round pick in 2010 draft for Boozer and C.J. Miles
3. Use the money that is being offered to McDyess, instead make a run at Brandon Bass.
3. Move Walter Sharpe to the Knicks for Cheik Samb.
WE can compete with:
Stuckey - PG/SG
Gordon - SG/PG
Charlie V. SF/PF
Boozer PF
Brown - C
Tay - 6th Man - SF, Point Forwad
C.J. Miles - main SG back-up
Brandon Bass - Banger back-up PF
Bynum - back-up point, tempo changer when needed
Samb - back-up Center... 24 mins. per game
Maxey - back-up PF/SF/C
Summers - SF- get minutes, when Tay is playing point forward
Swedish Kid - SF - blowout minuts
Daye - SF - sit and learn
dumars to meet w/ avery.....
Flip .. thanks for the update ... I can see some coaches leary about taking on a team without any real starting center or power forward ..It isnt a lock that AJ wants to coach here .. Big money may make the difference .. lol ... Still .. I am still giddy because Curry isnt here .. so let the rebuilding begin ..
dumars to meet w/ avery.....
at his home in houston on sunday, according to realgm.com.
sounds like he is still joes favrite or why else would he have to go to houston to meet him, don't candidates usually come to the town of the team to interview?
avery must be the one holding out and joe's going to try and sweet talk him.
i've heard avery will only get his salary still owed from dallas if he stays unemployed, and cuban gave him a big contract, so if he comes here he mat have to take a pay cut to go to work, when he could make more sitting home.
joes going to have to break out the checkbook to sign him.
Joe D and hiring new coach
Joe D. should take alittle more time in hiring a coach and not just take the next best guy. I would seek some input from my top 2-3 players. It has been a revolving door for head coaches here for quite some time and he needs to be more patient and find the right fit.
The excuse that the summer leauge is starting shortly is fine and dandy he can send an assistant for a week or so.
I think Bill Laimbeer is and has been looked at and Joe D. is contemplating how he would handle any negative critisism that may come from hiring Laimbeer. I think he would be a great fit.
I would also say not to listen to the media as for who may be on Joe D's short list. I think the media it out of touch and if it is not Laimbeer it will be someone not even mentioned in the news.
