Wasted years
Now that the Bill Martin experiment is a disaster, we can look forward to at least three more wasted years waiting for a decent team. All of this in an attempt to change a program from a consistent power to what???? Does Greg Robinson know anything about defense? He has the possibility of having the worst defense in Mich history and he's supposed to be an expert.

Sent an email, but I'll put it here anyway
There is a problem with what your stating. Mich football didn't need to blow-up the program to become successful, it already was successful. The program needed a good coach that complemented the team as it was, not a new system of doing things. With a new coach comes excitement and recruits to fill the gaps, not rebuild an entire roster to run the spread. There was enough talent already here. Remember this team also beat Florida in its bowl game. But once RR was hired no one wanted to stay. RR might turnout to be a winner, but it at the expense of four to five years! It was the wrong hire. RR should have gone to a team that was 3-9 and needed hope.
Bill Martin should be ashamed
Thanks Bill. You've destroyed 40 years of winning tradition to satisy your ego....well done. The hiring of RR has sent this program back at least 5-7 years. If it doesn't work out next year and RR is fired it will take another three years to clean up this debacle. I can already hear the excuses for next years losing season after playing the prized QB recruit from Inkster and saying its freshmen mistakes. So another year is wasted. We could've had an innovative coach that run a pro-style offense and had Ryan Mallet at QB... enough said. Carr would have this team at 9-3.
Bill Martin's gamble is a loser
This is what Bill Martin gets for blowing up the program for an entirely different philosophy towards football. He took a gamble and has hurt the reputation of the school and the football program. Now if Rich Rod doesn't deliver it will take another two or three years to clean up the mess. The talent was in place for solid team that needed a new leader to match the skills, not a complete dismantling. Thats what 2-10 teams do, not a team the won nine games and beat Florida in its bowl game. Bill Martin should be ashamed.
