Chrysler and Fiat quality issues
It's quite strange to hear about Fiat having quality problems given the quality checks they put in place with regards to the Fiat 500, which they exclusively make at their plant in Poland, a former Communist country that most people probably wouldn't associate with the manufacture of a high-quality vehicle.
True, Fiat's quality problems from the 1970s are well known (FIAT=Fix It Again, Tony) and the main reason Fiat left the United States in the early 1980s, but it's still strange. I wonder what vehicles these customers had.
Fiat/Chrysler Fails To Impress?
Mr. Howes, you will have to wait Nov. 4 to find out Marchionne's plans for Chrysler just like everybody else. He'll give the details then, and not before.
What's good for hedge funds is destructive for Chrysler
So the holdouts only hold 4% of Chrysler's first-lien debt, huh? Gee, tough break ... not! They shouldn't have held out for more money. Yes, I know ... fiduciary responsibility and all that, but they only made themselves a target for Obama and a public that has no sympathy for Wall Street.
JPMorgan Chase & Chrysler
Well, REHTheman, I admit I never thought of it like that, but you do have a point. I haven't heard anything from JPMorgan Chase about what they're doing on the Chrysler front. In fact, none of the banks has even commented on the situation, which may mean the negotiations are secret.
I can't really boycott them, anyway, since I'm not a JPMorgan Chase customer. One thing is certain ... if JPMorgan Chase refuses to help Chrysler and puts them out of business, I won't be going to them for financial services, either.
Commentary: America shouldn't bail out Big 3 losers
The Detroit 3 shouldn't be bailed out, Mr. Friedman? Well, then ... how do you propose the United States manufactures its own vehicles? Besides, we've lost a lot of our manufacturing capability as it is. I, for one, prefer we not lose more, especially our auto manufacturing capability.
