Gary Peters is done
How a politician who is suppossed to represent his constituents from Oakland County goes and votes for a government take-over of the health care system is beyond me. This guy has a political death wish and my guess is the line to be the executioner is long and getting longer.
Gary Peters Betrays Constituents
Gary Peters...circle June 26th on your calendar. You will want to remember the day your political career began its end. Your yes vote on Cap and Trade is the height of hypocrisy. You tell us "you're fighting for Michigan jobs" by circulating petitions to GM and then go back to Washington and vote yes on the biggest job killer, biggest tax in history??? If you think we're all a bunch of dopes and we'll either forget this or just don't understand your action, think again. Go raise more of that special interest money Mr. Peters. You will need it, but it still won't help you in 2010.
Enough Already
This is becoming ridiculous. Every week another one of Obama's henchmen march out with Granholm to tell us how they're going to throw money at us in order to save us. I have had with this nonsense. Stop the photo ops. Stop the BS. Stop throwing taxpayer money around without regard to what you are doing to my children and grandchildren. If Obama, Biden, Granholm and company would simply do their jobs and empower the private sector to get back on its feet we would not need to have Big Brother striving to make us more and more dependent on Washington. It is time for Washington and Lansing to get out of the way of private industry and create an environment where we can work to become responsible for ourselves once again. I'm sick of having the government - particularly the federal government - cradle us like we are all little children who won't survive without them. While this makes a "wonderful" headline, don't doubt for a minute that a little bit more of our liberty is being eroded bit-by-bit with every new pronouncement from these people. I've had enough!
Glad there is an alternative
Gary Peters is a mistake. He's got just about everything wrong since he's been in Washington. He has not represented me in Congress and I am pleased to know there is a viable candidate running on the other side. The sooner we replace Peters the better.
Hospitals and Doctors
Right on sir. Why is it that those who are so determined to define health care as a "right" have nothing to say about individual responsibility to care for your own health. There is no right to abuse yourself for decades until the ailments that ultimately catch up to you do so and then come to the rest of us and demand we pay for your care. This is only one aspect of universal health care that makes the notion of collective responsibility repugnant to most thinking people.
Ich bin ein Detroiter
Isn't it remarkable that some in positions of power in the once great City of Detroit can still resort to using the term "racism" when it simply is a mask to hide the ignorance that prevails far too often. The city council debate and vote on the Cobo Hall authority and expansion project is the latest example.
This is a city in crisis. This is a region at risk. This is a state whose future has never been more fragile. And what do we get from the elected leaders of Michigan's largest city? A rejection of a thoroughly debated and artfully negotiated proposal to rescue our most significant convention facility from almost certain disaster.
Unfortunately, all of us in Southeastern Michigan pay a real price for this shortsighted political circus as there is little chance for regional cooperation dictated by the "Foolish Five" at Detroit Common Council Chambers. What a shame.
However, now is the time for Lansing to act. Not to give them some crazy new scheme regarding Cobo. No, the focus now must be to create a new political structure in the City of Detroit. It is time for a majority ward system in Detroit. And the time is now in order for this system to be implemented before the regular elections later this year.
I will probably be called a "racist" by those hanging on to political power since it is all they have. But as someone who has all of our interests at stake, I urge the legislature to give us change that we can not only believe it, but change we can see, touch and feel.
Detroiters....all of us....deserve no less.
