Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler Makeover
Too late and Fiat is not the image that consumers will see to improve quality. I drive a Chrysler 300 AWD. While a beautiful car and a feeling of sport luxurious ride, too many problems the dealer calls annoyances. More problems with brakes, rims corroding and inferior OEM tires (ContiProContacts) now in lawsuits in 45,000 miles than I have had in lifetime of GMC products. Chrysler builds nicely styled cars and makes style improvements every couple years but leaves the long term driver dissappointed with return trips to the dealer. Ford and GM have gotton serious about competition and the importance of quality. Chrysler is left to another attempt to start over. You lost me and too many others. It will be down to the Big 2 in a couple years.
Grosse Pointes
Be careful what you wish for. A born pointer who moved away and then returned as an adult, our family found too many flaws with the community that Mrs. Rogers displays. You only need to watch the video to this article and listen to her voice inflection and body language when asked about being open to people of ethnic diversity. She does not believe it herself.
Her idea of the good life, envy-me homes and the sophisticate who jumps streets is all part of the don't look like a slob and act like a snob attitude that happily saw us move away once again. Trust-fund babies with materialistic values and little tolerance for diversity is too prevalent. Three common cocktail questions became so predictable. "What do you do", "Where do you live" and often, "What do you drive"?
Being judged by what you drive, which of the Pointes you live in and what side of Mack Ave. (closest to the lake being desirable) is not what true friendships are based on.
There are good people in the community. The taxes and services provide excellent amenities, especially with the private parks that each of the Pointes offer. I actually feel that some of the lower housing prices that are allowing more ethnics to move in will breakdown barriers that have developed over decades. This will take at least another generation as the Pointers who prefer to die in their homes will gasp at my idea of talking to their black neighbor who just moved in. You can argue that your schools are second to none. My response is that there are many communities where education is stressed just as highly and offer the same opportunities for higher education. Our family found that other communities can get along with more diversity and the snobbish attitude can be replaced with faith based principles that make relationships far more rewarding.
