Murdering Father "Lost Control"

Oh! He "lost control of himself!" Why didn't ya SAY so!

We could have avoided all this broo-ha-ha!

DEATH TO THE MORON!!!

homicides in Columbus Township

Some dork who calls himself "The Chosen One" said: "I shouldn't laugh b/c of the nature of the crime...but (...) The Bible explains these actions in blunt detail and I would advise people to love one another, accept Christ, and spread the love of God!

He makes my point perfectly about what religion does to a perfectly good brain. Only a sick-eff christian would find anything remotely funny about two teens being shot. And then sign off by encouraging people to do the very thing that got them all killed in the first place: poison your family with christ-cake kookery.

Crazed Christian Shoots Whole Family

Great. Another nutcase christian shoots his whole family. I'm sure he convinced himself it was god's work.

Those poor kids. They might have even grown up and found out how many of these nutcase murder suicides are the result of religion poisoning your brain and gotten themselves away from it. Now they'll never get the chance.

Tom Long's Diss of "Xmas Carol" Is Hogwash

We just came home from the Henry Ford seeing Disney's "A Christmas Carol" on 3D Imax.

It was one of the finest film adventures of our lives. We had our grandchildren (4 and 6) and while its true they plugged their ears a few times ... the were pied eyed and giddy when we came out.

The computer generated 3D animation is some of the best you'll see. They're really starting to perfect the look of the Imax screen. You'll fly over old Downtown London at breakneck speeds. And yes ... you'll stare directly into the seriously dead and absolutely ugly face of Jacob Marly, rotten teeth and all.

But before the kids have a chance to decide they want out of the theater ... Disney gently makes a joke out of it and the peals of childrens' laughter and cheers can be heard from the front to back.

Tom Long's morbid diss of Xmas Carol is pandering, lazy and over protective. If he phoned it in it couldn't have been less accurate.

Detroit's Bad Rap

Oh come on, Nolan. Talk about pandering. Do a nice little "but lets talk about the good stuff story" and expect people to take you seriously. My god, it's like saying "lets focus on the pitcher of ice cold water in the fridge instead of the burning house it's plugged into."

Detroit is presently a crap hole. Every description you quoted from those sources, which clearly you wish us to view as uninformed, out of touch villains, is spot on; at least as accurate at the rose colored stuff you want to divert a realistic discussion with.

It's time to stop clinging to baloney, and like Tiger Stadium we finally get some closure on the auto industry heydays and come to grips with the need to start over.

Yeah. Your articles nice. So is taffy.

Fairgrounds, Detroit school buildings among city's most-endangered sites

Harrison Twp writes, " People refer to white flight but this waste flight is faster than ever."

I personally would never refer to human beings in terms of being "waste." Nor does this necessarily need to be a racial issue, although to the narrow minded I could see how they could not escape the subject. To me this is about turning a metropolitan gem over to section 8 housing to accomodate the booming auto industry. Henry Ford and all of the auto moguls after him did more to destroy the city than any one person could ever do. First Ford brought the Great Migration of poor farm and plantation workers who were uneducated and unprepared to contribute to a city's growth. And their descendants have, in large measure, maintained that work ethic. Then the loss of land, resource, the theft of our trolley system, the destruction of our rivers, lakes, and pollution of our air were by enlarge a product of auto. True, much of our prosperity was from the sale of automobiles. But the money wasn't put back into the city, it was earned by the middle class for a short time, and then stolen by corporate CEO pigs. Now all that's left is the poor who can scarcely buy a clunker let alone support the industry that destroyed them.

Time to raze it and start over. Get rid of the auto companies. Raise the rent and property taxes, move the indigent to outlying cities where they can be better taken care of, and where they are not consuming the resources and land space of the Metro that is supposed to bring prosperity to the entire region. It should be too expensive for just about anyone reading this to live in a house in Downtown Detroit.

When that happens, you and I, and our property values, and our futures will all be better off.

Fairgrounds, Detroit school buildings among city's most-endangered sites

Frank D in Detroit said, "What happens when population drops to 2 or 300,000 in the city? That day is coming, and faster than you think."

As for me ... when the population is that low and the poor has been graciously but unceremoniously ushered out of the city ... that's when it will be time to start buying up the property. Because the next thing that happens is that developers begin amassing whole tracts of devastated land to rebuild with new, state of the art real estate too exclusive for the likes of those who can't afford a Starbuck's coffee, let alone offer anything to the Detroit Tax Base.

That day is also coming. And I look forward to it with an open check book.

Westland man to face charges in Detroit woman's death

Grumpy In Canton seems to think that a particular hairdo or a tattoo is some sort of clue as to a person's motives or lack of responsiblity.

Of course if I wanted to get stereotypical, I'd make a crack about old, uneducated morons who hide out in the white suburbs and vomit up garbage they learned from their southern moonshine drinking idiot relatives.

But that wouldn't be fair, and it wouldn't be based in fact ... now would it?

State budget faceoff is absurd

Centerfield, of NH said, "The absurdity is that the normally clear thinking Howes can even consider taking a middle position on this budget face-off.

The UC Berkeley mad-woman has gotten your state so far in a tax/revenue mess (reference Laffer Curve Theory) that there can be no doubt. One dollar more tax will surely result in more than a dollar's worth of increased deficit. Don't believe me. Look at Michigan's record the last several years.

Take a stand like like the Senate Leader."

Precisely. Leave it to a partisan hack like Howes to take a story about a spoiled, neotenic republican and turn it into his usual rant against Governor Granholm. One thing, you have to give him credit for shaping a story into something completely new. Howe can be considered the Balloon Clown of "journalism."

General Motors

Norton from Clarkston whined, "First of all I am going to ignore all your crap ..."

And then he went on for 6 paragraphs.

Nice "ignoring" me Norty.

No solution? Hm. Seems to me, I had a solution. And don't you find it odd that after 6 paragraphs of belly aching and bloviating, you end up at the exact spot as I was at ... "just don't buy it"?

Ummmm...that's what I said, genius.

Thu. 10/15/09 01:52 PM

General Motors

Norton from Clarkston belched, "How about let's fix the issues, try and turn these companies around?"

Um. No.

When the dry cleaner burns a shirt or constantly puts starch in after I've asked her a thousand times NOT to ... I stop going there. Everyone eventually stops going there. And she goes out of business.

What's funny is that people like Norton are the first ones to raise their hand and vomit up some parroted talking point about how the free market fixes everything. Yet when it comes to the auto companies, they seem to think GM, Chrysler and Ford have some sort of hall pass on the the same principles. You sell crap? You should go out of business. You have a way to help your customer use less gas, but refuse to because you're in bed with Exxon Mobil? Out of Business. You screw your employees with the help of anti-union rhetoric perpetuated by thousandaires who made their little fortune in the White Collar jobs who now hide out in Clarkston trying to flee the scary black people, huddling over their little 401(k)s and making up lies to their children about why their too friggin' stingy to send them to school instead of being honest and just telling them how they spent it all on their gas guzzling Hummer and their 5 Interest Only Mortgages?

OUT OF BUSINESS!!!

Howes' Salespitch for GM

I came to know what a shill Daniel Howes is for big business and it's misstress, the Republican Party watching his bloviating during the GW Bush administration.

Now, true to form ... he shills himself out to GM, a company which has done almost more to destroy Detroit than meth addiction. Only a republican hack reporter like Howes can take a story about a company that screwed its workers, sucked up as much of the local economy as possible, polluted the streets and rivers beyond recognition, sent its most important work and resources overseas, refused to protect Americans against gas price gauging (in fact aided and abetted Exxon Mobil) ... and then came back as a "New GM" to do it a second time incase they missed anyone that didn't yet have enough human suffering ... look like GM is doing us a favor.

Die GM. Die already.

Rush-in to Judgment

DEAD. FREAKING. ON. Ms. Berman!!!

But one element to this story about Rush Limbaugh turning Detroit into a caricature is the complicity of that GOP-butt kissing piece of crap radio station, WJR ... and this Ken Rogulski tool who sent Rush the audio.

THEY OBVIOUSLY WORKED IN CONCERT WITH EACH OTHER to humiliate the city that gives them their license. Rogulski should be fired. And why there isn't a stampede of protesters standing outside the Fisher building every single day until that pedophile, oxycontyn chewing hog, Rush Limbaugh is taken off the air, I will never understand.
