Picked up the last copy of the Detroit News at the grocers this P.M. Couldn't miss it because of the bright new colors and larger headings certainly grab one's eye. Looks very nice!!!!

I hate to admitt, I prefer the on-line version. I'm a cyber junky. Now, I just need to find something else to put at the bottom of my bird cage.

The Detroit News cybersurvey questions are lame.

I switched to online version of Detroit News a while ago. It's much better than paper version in that it is environmentally friendly and sharing and filing the information is so much easier. I hope the ad revenues will be able to make the electronic version self-sustaining.

Limiting the printed edition is contributing to the dumbing down of America. I guess I'll have to get my news from the TV like everyone else.

After months of preparation and convincing everyone to use the eReader your server can't handle the capacity? It that poor planning or poor management? So typically Detroit. The paper's articles are still in printed in serif font but when you select an article it changes to a sans-serif font. Much research has shown that it is more difficult for the eye to follow a sans-serif font like arial than a serif font like courier or times new roman. This is made worse by the long width of the articles in the reader box compared to the narrow columns of the paper. Further, articles that are continued on another page will say "please see page 2A, 3A, 4A, etc." but the drop-down box list pages as A2, A3, A4, etc. How about some consistency please? And don't we all find extremely annoying the constant scrolling and flickering of the "Browse Your Weekly Ads" at the top? I'll give you one full week, then I am subscribing to another home delivery paper like the New York Times or USAToday.

I've tried several times today to read on-line edition without any luck. Unable to even turn the pages to continue a story. Raeadability and size options for page layout is poor. I'm certain I'm not alone, here.

What a shame that all the fine journalists at The News can't get their work read due to IT issues due to poor product launch preparation by management.

What will be the new rates for current home delivery customers? If not less than 50%...will likely stop.

I wasn't expecting a newspaper nor did I intend to purchase one. Sadly, after trying several times to renew my subscription and being told the options outlined in the letter I received weren't available. Doesn't make sense to pay the same price no matter how many papers are delivered to my home and there being no option for E-edition only (my preference)at least at a price reflecting the lack of printing, and delivery costs. Also the E-edition seems so poorly executed, log-in problems, pages not loading etc. I have elected to not renew.

THANK YOU for the quick reply regarding Paul W. Smith moving to Saturday's edition. His column has been a ray of sunshine for many of us, even when the topic Smith's covering seems bleak. Glad to know that the News appreciates Smith's work as much as we readers do.

I realize that several papers around the country have closed in recent months and I am willing to give the e-edition a try. However, I was told that we would receive a link e-mailed to us every morning after we registered to access the site. I have not received my link.

We are looking into why you did not get an e-mail reminder about the e-Edition today. In the meantime, you can access the e-Edition at http://edetroitnews.com without having to log in for the next few days.

the e-version is awful. Poor, poor interface. If you are in a two page view you zoom in by clicking the page but on a single page that opens a text only version of the article next to the image. and the fast scrolling circular ads at the top is one of the most annoying and distracting things ever. I'll just keep going to detnews.com

TJtheFilmGuy, Orlando, FL

We have experienced some technical problems with our e-Edition because of the overwhelming interest in it today. We are working with our vendor to quickly improve the user experience, so keep checking back at http://edetroitnews.com. Our Web site, www.detnews.com, is another good option. Thanks

The e-version has a poorly designed user interface. The response time is inexcusable. Several bugs already. This whole idea of e-delivery has not been well thought out. I cancelled my subscription of 32 years this morning.

Where is Spiderman, I like the comics and their is no Spiderman? GET IT BACK!

Samuel Allen, Detroit, MI

FYI: We did a comics page survey to find readers' preferences and kept the most popular. Unfortunately, Spiderman did not make the cut.

I found it where I usually buy it - in the lobby where I work, but there weren't many copies available in the box. I'll continue to buy it at work (or else a Meijer).

But WHERE'S PAUL W. SMITH? There's no notice on the Editorial Page that he "will return," and I've always looked forward to his column on Mondays.

Mary-16, Warren, MI

Paul W. Smith's column is moving from Monday to Saturday. He begins again on Saturday.

No, I didn't find it because I didn't look for it. I looked for it on my porch and it was not there. So I tried to navigate the on-line version and found that it took me two hours to read the stingy condensed version as pages would not load properly and it was far too cumbersome.

I cannot believe that the braintrust at both papers could not come up with a better solution. If the journalism world is watching your model, please be aware that it is destined to fail and do NOT follow Detroit's lead. Think of a better solution.
