Life writes... Or should I say repeated my comments back to me.... Businessideas wrote: "You are giving us your belief that was drilled into your head because you aren't capable enough of believing in yourself to develop your own beliefs as an individual."

Yea, because you're so capable of thinking for yourself. Sure. You've been brainwashed by a godless society and you think I'm the one with problems. Take your own advice, Businessideas. Think for yourself instead of going along with the crowd.

Now I'm going to write... You don't know what my beliefs are and it's going to stay that way because it's none of your business. It's my personal belief and I'm keeping it that way. Thanks for proving my point that you can't think for yourself as you just took my comments to you and used them against me. Couldn't come up with anything on your own?

I never said you shouldn't be Christians. What I said was what makes Christian's think they're the moral authority? They're far from innocent and nun-like... And as far as abortion, you still haven't answered my question as to why you feel the way you do when there's kids galore who are born aren't taken care of.

Normally, if I state an assumption, I state it AS an assumption.

So your "philosophy" is that because some bad things were done in the name of Christianity (I'll agree with that), then we shouldn't be Christians. Based on that assumption then we shouldn't be human either. Because humans have done some terrible things. Your philosophy is as ridiculous and your "eating meat is comparable to abortion" theory. Oh yes, I didn't forget you my confused friend.

I'll see your bumper sticker philosophy and raise you a Homer

That's nice. Corrupt the family. Then you'll be answerable for much more than your own soul.

LifeMatters, Sterling Heights,

LM: You're just full of assumptions, aren't you?

1) You assume that there is a thing such as a soul

2) You assume that watching a show will corrupt a family. If watching a show will "corrupt" anyone's faith, they haven't got a strong faith to begin wih.

3) You assume that the Christian god is the correct god

Face it, LM, your position is a house of cards in a hurricane

Life Writes... Wow - I cannot believe the amount of non-believing people there are on this forum. If this "sampling" is any indication of the state of this country then I understand why the moral decline is so great. You can all believe or not believe in anything you wish - that is your free will, given to you by our Creator. To borrow a quote I saw on a billboard, "Life is short, Eternity isn't."

What makes you the authority on what people should and should not believe to gain a good sense of morals? You are giving us your belief that was drilled into your head because you aren't capable enough of believing in yourself to develop your own beliefs as an individual.

Christianity is by far the moral authority considering all the violence that has been seen in that religion. You ever hear of the quote, "be yourself", and don't worry what others are doing or thinking?

You thought that was vulgar, you should've flipped to the next channel and watched Wanda Sykes stand up. She made what Larry David did look like a disney cartoon. She was filthy, vulgar, and I thought.. quite funny, but, awfully nasty.

Do you have any idea how many jokes, skits, and movies there are that make fun of Jesus? I wonder when people are going to come to the realization that he was just a man. I believe there is a story about a man named Jesus and that he was murdered but I don't believe in the super-natural. I find it kind of odd that so far, he's the only person ever to come back from the dead. I know The Da Vinci Code was fiction but I can't help but say that it totally changed how I think of Christianity and I think the majority of that religion is based off fantasy. Then again, aren't all religions a form of fantasy? And shouldn't that fantasy be left up for that individual to decide what to believe?

That'd probably solve 90% of the wars...

[LifeMatters:] ---- Why do you not defend someone like Glenn Beck who freely expresses his opinions as he sees it? I'll tell you why - because it only serves you to say that when it is liberally based. ----

........

You don't know what you're talking about, L.M. I most assuredly DO defend Beck's right to "freely express his opinions." But you seem to confuse such defense with defending the content of Beck's expression.

Perhaps you've heard the following (usually attributed to Voltaire): "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."

Do you know what it means?

........

[LifeMatters:] ---- Secondly, why do they think it okay to bash Christianity but would never think to do that to Islam? I'll await your answer. ----

........

Fine, here's my answer, L.M.:

Firstly, who, in your mind, is "they"? The Jews who run Hollywood? Secondly, I thought we already agreed that no "bashing" was involved in the show in question...didn't we? Thirdly, what gives you the idea that "they" never bash Islam or any other religion?

BTW, I am on record as "bashing" Islam. And Judaism, too. I guess that makes me an equal-opportunity basher, huh?

What do you do with that, L.M.?

Look, you may be a nice guy (or gal), but you and your far-right religious-extremist friends really need to lighten up.

Hey, LifeMatters, you need to soak your head somewhere. And get a real life, as I said.

BTW (not that it's anyone's business, or course), I, personally, happen to agree that marriage should remain a contract between a man and a woman.

But that only shows I'm not quite the filthy "lib" that my less-open-minded adversaries like to paint me as. It does NOT obligate me to join them in singing the praises of empty skirts like Carrie Prejean...or What's-her-name from Wasilla.

Life writes...Businessideas: I've always known Larry David to be off the wall in his humor, but peeing on a picture of Jesus - that's over the top and insulting to Christians who have watched his show over the years. Yes, he's insulted other groups and in fact in one episode he hired a traveling Nativity Scene for his front yard and hit on "Mary". Did you hear any outcry then? No because it wasn't the level of vulgarity as this episode portrayed. It's disrespectful and he wouldn't have done it to a picture of Mohammed or the Koran. If he would have, you surely wouldn't hear the end of it.

I wouldn't put it past him to do it to other religions. I was just making the point that it's entertainment. If we started filtering the television for something that might offend someone, there wouldn't be television. Once in awhile he's funny, but, personally I think he's an idiot. Between the internet and t.v., there isn't anything that should surprise you. Thankfully, we have the alternative of turning the channel and not watching.
