Fatal inmate shooting
Never bring a needle to a gunfight.
Fatal inmate shooting
Cliff...your ignorance never ceases to amaze me. Tell you what, let me ram a needle in various parts of your body and tell us its not a deadly threat. Never mind he was threatening innocent bystanders. He was told repeatedly to put it down and he refused. Can't find a bit of sympathy for a drug addict who thinks threatening innocent bystanders was the thing to do. He chose his own fate.
Fatal inmate shooting
Cliff haven,
Had this officer had a billy club and beat the living crap out of this idiot he would have been sued... Although he will probably still be sued but at least this druggy won't be alive to benefit from it..

I'm real tired of the American people sticking up for the criminals and always bashing the police. This criminal should have never picked up the needle! Lets start blaming the criminals instead of everyone else! The American people always like to make excuses for the criminals. Well, at the end of the day the criminals most be held accountable! Lets not blame this officer and lets not forget the police did not put the needle in this mans hand!!!!!

responding to Clifclaven, You are first assuming that the officer was not expierenced. The reason there was not more then one officer is cost. plain and simple. Why the deadly force over a needle ? what was the needle contaminated with? was there anyone else close that could have been threatned ? This is a very sad and unfortunate incident. There was no criminal act done by the officer. Could there have been another response ? The officer should have been armed with a taser, baton. Chemicals not used because of medical enviorment. maybe additional restraints should have been used. It is unfortunate that the sheriff did not see fit to have an independent investigtion but Sheriff Hackel does not play well with other agencies.

An IV needle was perceived by the Officer to be a deadly weapon??? The inmate's behavior is inexcusable, but what is it with these cops or corrections officers who get a case of "the vapors" everytime something loud and/or unexpected happens? What kind of training do they receive before they're sent out to deal with the public and why aren't they teamed up to benefit from a co-worker with more experience anymore?
