There is no cap in 2010.And unless there is a new labor agreement I don't see it happening.I do see a rookie cap like the NBA in 2012.Ukung is being compared to Thomas of the Browns at LT only better. The only knock on him is that he needs to add upper body strength. He just totally dominates at the college level.I would love to have Lions get Ukung or Suh with their top pick.In the unofficial stats,Bacchus has 6.5 sacks. So that is better than his previous three years, but it is above average for LTs.
Scatch
Lions are playing almost totally a deep zone because of the serious lack of talent at DB.So Smith shouldn't have too hard a time picking up the scheme.I won't be surprised if Delmas and Simpson are the only DBs on next years roster.I believe only way Lions get Berry at DB is if they win a few more games and fall to 5th in the draft.Perrish Cox in the third round would seem to fit Schwartz's need for more aggressive CBs.In an uncapped year I don't care where Lions draft as long as it is a Big Bubba.Have I said that in years past?I'm getting old and my mind isn't what it used to be.I also grew up in the 60s so my mind has been altered somewhat!!!!
Good Morning
Lions fans and may The Schwartz be with you.I'm looking forward to the next off season by the Lions. It will tell me if it's the same old same old or if Lions are going in a new and better direction. There have been many good things although it hasn't translated into wins.Let us start with the four rookie starters. When is the last time that has happened?Stafford is getting the reps needed to progress, and he will have the whole off season to work with the receivers. He did not get all the 1st string reps in training camp, and with some of his receivers injured did not get to work with them. This draft is loaded with O-Line and DTs.Some in the second round would have been first rounders last year. There are also some very good safeties available.
There are some very good guards set to hit free agency like Eugene Amano of the Titans. If the Lions are smart the O-Line could be fixed in one year!I have hope that the Lions will go with the Big Bubbas in the draft and free agency.Ukung or Suh as the first pick would set up LT or DT .If Lions take Suh in the first round Jason Fox LT should be available in the second round. There should be some very good guards available in the second and third round also. The only way Lions could mess up this draft is by taking pretty boys early again. If that happens you know there is no hope!
gypsy et all
I hope you know the crotchety crocs and all that was just goofing around, trying to add a little levity where there are so many painful things going on.It's like we are living through the Fall of the American Empire. The lust for power and greed has caused most of this. Two local churches have a food bank and over 3,000 people showed up in a county of about 12,000 people.

Join us on the positive side of the Force.Too long have you wallowed in the Darkside. The cloud of negativity has enveloped your spirit leaving you without hope.We will guide you through the festering swamp of Melonhead to the Valley of the Sun.Believe in the Schwartz!!!

Don't leave!Join me on the quest for enlightenment to guide these Lions through this Negative Nile of of Crotchety Crocs. They have lost faith in The Schwartz, but can be guided back to true belief.Don't give up!!!
O-Line
to me is the biggest problem on the offense. It is the 29th rated O-Line in the NFL right now. That is better than last years 32nd rated but not good enough.Stafford was taking mostly 3 and 5 step drops, getting rid of the ball quickly and still getting hit. Thanks Melon again.Cherilus just doesn't seem to have the feet to play OT maybe a move to LG would work.I am willing right now to give the Lions time to see what this group can do,but there are also times I want to chuck it all.
Good Morning
Lions fans and may the blessings of The Almighty be with you today.Lions are improving although it hasn't shown up in the win column. The cupboard was bare when Schwartz got here, but is a little better now.Best player available again this year in the 2010 draft?Do the Lions fix the D or the O-Line first?Do Lions go with a Big Bubba O-Line like Eagles or a zone blocking like Denver?Right now they have a little of each which isn't working. If the Lions want to fix the O-Line,the players are there in the draft.DTs are also there a plenty.
Stafford to me looks like the real deal:I am glad now Lions didn't do my draft!I may be wrong, but it looks like CJ's head just isn't into it.He looks like a guy who has given up on this year.Anyone else see this?
WC
I wanted Floyd Reese as GM along with Schwartz as coach, but we got Mayhew and Lewang.Patriots scooped up Reese.Lions are so thin in talent that any injuries cause major problems. It took Titans 3 full years to rebuild, and they were not as bad off as Melon left the Lions.

I hope you realize it is nothing personal. We just have differing opinions which I can respect.I'm wrong many times in my estimation of players.I just happen to be right almost always over Matt Melon.I'm sure we would get along great in person.I always say better living through chemistry as I have my local anesthesia medicine cabinet.God bless and I hope the pain subsides!
Russell Okung LT
is being compared to Joe Thomas only with longer arms.Lions should have a shot at him.Looks like he could add some upper body weight and strength.Already has great pass blocking skills.Looks like only thing he is missing is time in the weight room.

That is a draft I could live with.I like that Allen pick in the fourth at safety.Have some work to do so yap with you tomorrow.

D-Line and O-Line seem to be the strengths in the 2010 draft.DE and CB seem to be the weakest. If the Lions want a top flight DB,it looks like they will have to take one at #1.At DT I like Suh the best.He looks svelte at 300 pounds. He has the frame to add 10-20 pounds and fit the mold Schwartz wants at DT.Lions can really set this team up for years with another good draft and free agency. Most of Stafford's bonus comes due next year in an uncapped year. After that I believe Lions will only be paying about 7 million a year, not much for a starting NFL QB.
What If?
It's a fun game to play with 20/20 hindsight.Would you rather have Loadholt or Delmas?Lions already had Cherilus.I guess I'm one of the very few who believe Lions brain trust did a good job with what they had to work with.I also believe this coaching staff is doing a very good job with the talent available.Lions are at least staying in some games this year.I have been on Bacchus for years, but he had a good game yesterday, credit where credit is due.
WC
I see the Lions taking the best player available again in the 2010 draft. The needs are still many.I can't make up my mind if Lions need DBs,O-Line or D-Line more. How about all three.
