SnP - Golfer on Lions' Long Term Thinking

I said I THOUGHT Mack was drafted ahead of Pettigrew but wasn't sure, and name anybody on here that doesn't agree the oline is lacking, and has been for many years. Also like it or not Raiola and Backus are the veteran anchors of the Lions line and have been thru several different coaching staffs, again not agreeing with that but that's how it is and how it has been. Last offseason was the first I have ever heard the Lions even have rumors about replacing BackusNow if they draft some rookie olineman next season, Stafford is a 2nd year vet and has started to proven himself and he commands their respect right away.Lots of different ways to build a team. Neil and you have good points, but since the Lions didn't take Mack and did take Pettigrew it's a mute point left for the shoulda coulda woulda category. Nothing we can do about it, and saying that Mack would have improved things by himself on this oline is speculation. He would have been a start for sure, but not the end all, and again nothing WE can do about who they picked except try and make the best of it.

WC:Mack

Mack looks like the real deal, butall those rookie olineman you mentioned have something on the line they are playing on that they wouldn't have on the Lions, an established good offensive line. Raiola and Backus ARE the Lions veteran anchors, so if they got rid of them and replaced them with Mack and another rookie those guys wouldn't have the luxury of having someone show them the ropes.Kind of like having Joey Harrington starting with Mike McMahon as his mentor........From all accounts Mack has taken well to his role of controlling the inside of the line for the Browns, I think he would have been a good pick too, but the Lions didn't take him and I might be mistaken, but I thought the Browns manuevered in front of the Lions to take Mack? Plus not only did they keep Raiola, the gave him an extension too.

Of course I couldn't see the game here, but I wonder if the Lions are playing the Vikings or the Packers, is that a pass interference call on them at the end like it was the Browns? Good effort to come back and not laydown after getting blown out early. If you just accept the D is bad and the oline's not great and concentrate on the few bright spots they do have it's not so bad. Kevin Smith didn't light it up rushing today, but he was 2nd in the league in total yards for RB's. Brady Quinn had a QB rating of 133, doubt he'll do that next week......The Lions D did get a stop when they needed to at the end, I'll say that....

Another

Super fantastic online special just in time for Christmas from Kwan enterprises. Eagletalon, you're right, with the contracts these guys get now and the fact they are lucky to get 10 years out of a player they have to throw them to the wolves. I like how Stafford hasn't backed down, when he made mistakes he didn't lay in a fetal position in the locker room like a boy, or he didn't boast how he still thought he made some good throws out there, he looked like a young man that new he made mistakes and had to get better. In hindsight I think it was good to start Stafford this year, and I think he's one of the young guys that can take the heat and the beating and get better from it. I still don't know if he's going to be all that and bag of chips, but he looks like he belongs in the NFL anyways. Good to see you are still lurking.

And The Legend Is Written...........

KK buzzkill (good one Flydog) I would say something to point out the flaws in your thinking once again KK, but I understand there is a short curcuit between your chair and your keyboard and what comes out in your posts really can't be helped. Lions WON and it's EATIN YOU UP that makes my day!

STUPID A PREREQUISITE TO BE A LION!

Had time outs left and you know they were all over CJ, Staford should have kept going to TE's over the middle after CJ cleared out. THATS'S what a good TE and a QB that knows how to use them can do.....So we gonna get that boy named Suh? Can he cover a receiver? What will his contract be? 80million?

Sun. 11/22/09 04:09 PM

and there you have it

The toilet bowl is over, and the Lions with the first pick in the 2010 draft pick the WR Roundtree from UM cuz a good WR will keep the D off the field.......

Freakin
