Backus has been surrounded by different players should read "by different bodies" as the guard position has been totally ignored since the arrival of Millen. If this team wants to run the ball as they claim they do, they need guards. Guards, not centers, set the tone in the run game which in turn allows the passing game to work.
I agree that the line needs fixing, but, I say fix the greatest needs first. Makes on sense to replace the best players and ignore the areas of greatest need.

Year one of the run n shoot.....quick scoring from all points on the field....defense sucks so talking heads decide its because the offense scores too fast.....Ford orders Wayno to use tight ends and fullbacks......Mouse refuses and is then fired....now offense sucks just like the defense...Just like now the defense sucks so all want to overhaul the offense....somethings never change...

Sure looks like they don't mean squat, don't it? Football doesn't lend itself to stats because the sample sizes are too small and the variables are too many. Only a fool could believe that they mean much.

I'm still drinking the KOOL AID and proud of it. Been a bit embarrassed about the last two games, but I see improvement from last year and I like the draft choices. It won't happen overnight but I think we got at least a couple of future playmakers from this years group.
You really should try some of this cool aid though, cause I think its electric.

Billy; I see a running back that appears tentative. Either looking for the big play or trying to protect the shoulder. Either way he spends too much time in the backfield instead of attacking the hole(trusting the hole to be there). If he is afraid of contact he should be watching.

You can put me down as wishing that WCF never listen to the fans. Most of the fans are wrong most of the time, even on this forum. Very few in fact see a difference in Maywand and Millens draft. I just wish he would hand over control to a football man and then butt out. He makes too many decsisions to please the fan base now.

Running backs
Shouldn't be hard to evaluate. When an eight year carreer backup averages a yard and a half more than your #1 behind the same line against the same opponent it means he is not very good, especially when he lacks breakaway speed. I think the O-line catches alot of the blame that the quarterbacks and running backs deserve.
Anybody notice that the sacks are way down when Kitna and Culpepper aren't behind center.

Backus is NOT the problem. Not an all-pro but not the problem. Fix the problems first like a left guard and a running back. Thats what the offense needs. The defense on the other hand needs help everywhere starting with corners, tackle and end.

I can't understand the logic that thinks a high pick should make a big impact on a lousy team. Or your logic that says a half a season is enough to evaluate any rookie. Nothing has been proven yet and won't be soon so quit with all the p'en and m'en already. Cheese and rice your gitting to be as bad as my ol lady, can't shut up about nothin.
