Speaking of Lions memories

There is a kid playing for Texas by the name of English. I bet that's Doug's son. Hard to believe that there were times we had a good DL.

All right Dougal, I'll play along

Eric Hipples first game, Chuck Longs first play, Billy Sims first game, Barry Sanders MNF showdown (smackdown) with Emmitt Smith, a Lem Barney punt return, Barry Sanders first play (without any pre-season) as a rookie.

UM/OSU

It was 30 years ago that the beloved Wayne Woodrow Hayes got himself fired for throwing an uppercut at the throat of an ACC player. Maybe RichRod will do the same today.

Best and Smith combo

After chasing Best for a couple series, the "D" would overpursue bad when Smith came in. Smith reminds me of Lorenzo White of MSU. He's shifty and tries hard but lacks the break away speed. Both were very durable in college.

Jahvid Best

What if he is there for the Lions in the second round? He and Chris Johnson would be the fastest RB's in the NFL. It would be hard to pass on him in the second round .... but we need lineman right!!?? Having Best and Smith would be like having a pitcher with 100 mph fast ball and 75 mph change up. Does it work with RB's like it does with pitchers?

Motah

It's a long way from The Lord of the Gay, but for some Firesign madness, I just might be there. Two things you gotta understand though ... "Your brain is not the boss!" and "Everything you know is wrong!!!" Go Follett!!! Give us reason to be proud again!!

scatch / stooges

Scatch, if you ever watch the movie "The Caine Mutiny" (a fav of myself and Motah), keep an eye out for an actor that was frequently on the Stooges episodes. He is one of the officers sitting on the bench at the trial. He may be visable on youtube during the famous ballbearing scene. In the Stooges, I think he got punched a lot when he got stuck in an overcoat with Shemp.

draft alert - player to watch

Jared Oldrick of Penn State will be trying to dominate in East Lansing this Sat. Oldrick might make a good 2nd round pick for the Loins. It would be Okung in the 1st, Oldrick in the second.

WC

Browns rookie year was '57'.

All right Lien

I'm watching Mack. He better not make one frickin mistake!

Da Draft

As Billy has pointed out many times, we finally have outstanding college players in the positons of most need. We can't fill all the many needs in one year, so how do the underclassman look? If it's weak in OL, you go Russell Okung this year. If it's weak in CB's, you go Eric Berry. This years draft is so good with DT's that I think they will get a good one in the second round. However, I won't complain if they take Suh or McCoy with the first pick.

Sorry to mention so many players folks ....

but I believe you would take many of our guys, put them in another uni, and they would be just fine. Leigh Bodden, Andre Goodman, Travis Kirschke, Damian Woody for example. Now, when you put all these below avg guys and put them on one team, well, you can see the results.

Lion players who could start on other teams

The linebackers, G. Jackson and S. Hill, Delmas and Buchanon, Ramirez, Raiola, Gosder, Peterman, Stafford, CJ, Felton, K. Smith, Pettigrew. Most of these guys I grade below average ... but I don't think they are the worst at their positons in the NFL. Also, I believe many people would want the younger ones for their potential.

Mon. 11/16/09 06:09 PM

Is it possible ....

No one noticed the shoulder pad?

Anakin

Are you asking to name players that would beat out another teams starter, or a Lion player that would make the team?
