pettigrew

he looks good, he looks rookie, he looks good, he looks rookie. he looks like a good pick for the pats, vikes, etc at number 20 last year. i think he will be a very good tight end barring injury. but not what the lions needed at 20 last year.

Pettigrew

He might be new.. but he brings the same thug stupidity that has been a Lions hallmark for 30 years. Nice hit, fool. Let's see if you can manage to line up offside and negate a touchdown before the game is over. Then, you'll be a TRUE Lion.

thats as dumb a play as it gets

I read a lot of comments this evening and not a negative word about this young man, just maybe HE "GREW up PETTI" good in this game, when was the last time the Lions threw that many passes to the tight ends, COULD this BE a good step in the right direction.

ALL YOU STAFFORD "LOVER" - JUST LOOK BACK IN HISTORY ON SOME OF THE GREAT QB AND READ WHAT THEIR STATS WERE FOR THE FIRST FEW YEARS.

GO LIONS

3rd down conversion is great if that's the call.

I think we'd be better off trying to translate Farsi than to understand the Lions playbook.

Is there a playbook?

Pettigrew

You got better eyes then I do because I dont see any play that works for him. What a total zero he has been. To me a TE should be a 3rd down conversion machine. I cant recall a catch he has made to keep a drive going. (For now) You can add him to the pile of

Reggie Rogers

Charles Rogers

Joey Harrington

Stockard McDougle

Arron Gibson

Mike Williams

Roy Williams

Jeff Backus

Ernie Simms

Boss Bailey

Staffords on hold for the next two year.

How can a team miss every freaking year on their #1 pick? Its incredible.

Pettigrew

Morning!...Agreed, i think Pettigrew to this point has been a dissappointment. Now i know the expectations are high or unfair, but he has yet to see the Endzone..I wasn't expecting him to take the league by storm, but if what the experts are saying about him are true..than maybe 1 day, hopefully sooner than later, we will see what these scouts and experts were talking about.!

I think with a body and frame like that, he should be presenting miss-match problems with opposing teams..And it's up to the Lions coaching staff to utulize him as they see fit..

But that doesn't excuse him from dropping passes..The thing that scares me with him is that he prefers to catch with his hands only, and he doesn't seem to absorb the ball naturally into his body..he doesn't "see the ball all the way through".!and he doesn't tuck the ball away

I fear he may be pronned to fumbling the ball after the catch..Let's face it, Pettigrew's speed won't scare anyone and he most likely won't be effective in the Play-Action game..

The play-calls that work best for him are hooks, and screens...u know...8 yards at a time...that's it.

I've not seen much of the Lions this year but I find it hard to believe that Pettigrew was a good choice with all the other holes the Lions had. About 20 of them. He may be a great TE but he isn't providing any punch to the offense.

Pettigrew

There is nothing wrong with Pettigrew. He simply is not being utilized in the way that he should be. I do not know if that is the fault of Schwartz and Linehan, or if it is because there has been a rookie qb that is still learning too much too fast and a veteran qb that simply isn't on the same page as the rookie tight end. Pettigrew has all the tools to be one of the greats. I am sure that his injury held him back as well. When you are not able to practice with your qb early on there is a lot of confidence lacking. Patience is very much needed for this important role to grow.

I took him as my 17th and final pick in my fantasy league. I wasn't thrilled with the Lion's drafting a TE in the first round but I figured what the hey, he is a first round pick, and if you are going to use that high of a pick on a TE, he'd better be a rookie of the year candidate. I inserted him last week (in place of Dallas Clark who was on a bye) and he got me a BIG FAT ZERO. I just put him on waivers! Show's you what I think of the Lion's first round pick! Won't get fooled again!

Pettigrew

In case you haven't noticed, I'm a closet Lion's fan. I beeitch and moan about them yet I used a 17th round draft pick in my fantasy league on Pettigrew. Kept him around on the bench the first 4 weeks waiting for Dallas Clark's (my starting TE) bye week, then put him in. I second guessed myself over and over but decided to go with him since Calvin was injured and I felt there may be a chance Brandon would rise to the occasion and have a break out game. After all, he is a first round draft pick! But NOOOOO! He get's me a big ZERO!

Sun. 10/18/09 08:40 PM

Pettigrew

handed a perfect pass from Stanton right to a db.

I'm really happy with that draft pick.

Pettigrew

Who is that man?

Cut him!

Sun. 10/18/09 02:00 PM

Pettigrew

Another high draft choice who cannot do the job. A penalty then a drop on a third down. Perfect!

One negative I have read on here was Pettigrew wasn't blocking that well. That was supposed to be his strong point. So I haven't seen if he's doing anygood there. Pettigrew's not going to be a Whitten or Antonio Gates, but i would love if he becomes the guy defenses forget about that kills them underneath and down the middle while they are trying to stop CJ.Heller reminds me of Campbell when Campbell was healthy. A blocker that gets free on pass routes and can make some big plays now and then. I think the TE position is pretty good on the Lions now and they have gotten 25 catches for 290 yards out of that position so far this year.
