The Scene, ahem.....
Hi posters, I can see emotions are running very high on the game last night...good enough reason in some cases...both sides got jackhammered by the poor officiating that I could see...the blocked punt that Stevenson recovered and was ruled Clarkie ball and a first down....that one was like a baseball player striking out swinging and having the umpire award the batter third base!!! Two phantomly bad pass interefence calls, one on each team...and on and on....and the guy on the clock, no more on that one....what it is is what is as they saying goes....to say a player is a "cheater" in a high school sports event is outlandish and idiotic....how, how, how??? What is more idiotic is lots of coaches ranting and raving on the sidelines, BB floor or BA diamond.....we all know of a certain one in Warren....and one in Oakland county - both with mighty records.....
The guy howls like a banshee all night long and never gets a technical when 98% of the rest of the teams would get Ts.....coaches and officials both screw up....look at the major league BA playoffs and WS....Grandma tootie could have done a better job there.....I am just glad the officials got off the field in a hurry....lets just close that one......suggestions to all: write MHSAA with your comments and see if things can improve...what else is there to do???? Plus the emotions for that game last night were higher than a kite on both sides....this was Oakland County vs. Macomb County....they also rumble and disagree with politics all the time....what did you expect????
Sort of like DTE Energy theatre vs. Freedom Hill so to speak......lets just see what transpires on sat - Stevenson vs. CC....New England Patriots vs. Indy Colts.....another matchup of catholic league haters vs. MAC haters.....I think I might wear a catcher's mask to protect myself there.....ha-ha......by the way what county is CC located???? Hi posters, it still appears the smoke has not been cleared and wont be for a long time about the Clarkie/Stevenson game last night...from what I heard in the stands MHSAA selects officials from "lists and recommendations" to one of the top cheeses that runs the officials there....in a FB playoff crew several different members from different crews are put together based on "ratings" (or favoritism if you will***)....these guys some of whom have never worked together must get together in the locker room before the game and discuss their styles and where they are suppoed to be......harumph.....never mind the fact they may not be compatible with each other......go figure....no disrepect intended but the official working on the sideline by the Clarkston bench was not very mobile and constantly behind the play all night long....even some girls nearby were talking about him......go figure.....at least as far as I know they didnt blow any out of bounds calls like I have seen in the past four weeks....whew!!! I am glad we did not have a medical emergency last night in the stands....that stadium (Athens) was shamefully oversold on tickets and EMS personnel would have had a very hard time getting to an emergency.....several of the smaller BB gyms are that way too....no I am not going to mention the one in Warren.....plus the person running the clock, dont want to get into that one again...absolutely pathetic.....first and ten and the clock showed second and five, etc.....
Wonder if Mach and his boys were there scouting out things.....more than likely....alarming thing last night was all the Clarkston players going down on the ground over and over after getting their clocks rung by Stevenson's much bigger linemen and LBs......thank goodness it didnt appear they were hurt too bad....wonder how may dogs they sold last night????? probably enough pop to fill up a swimming pool.....the concession stands must have made a king's ranson on the concessions sold...lines were very long....Stevenson vs. CC....they might get 15000 alone into FF to see the game on sat.....all the catholic league haters vs. the MAC haters.....sort of like the Hafields vs. the McCoys....blood runs thick in the two leagues.....just hope the parking lot vendors dont jack the prices way up...but dont bet on it....to all you good guys and posters was hoping to meet some of you last night but the crowds you could not find a needle in a naystack last night....

Hi posters...Tom W. reporting back and I can see from some posts here that you will get all kinds of 0pinions on what happened with the officiating last night with Clarkie/Stevenson....goofy calls all over the place with mostly an inept crew (**Didnt I just say in a earlier post I hoped MHSAA would send their best officials...guess I wuz wrong***)....how bout the person running the clock last night???? He couldnt keep it straight the whole night messing up the downs, time, time outs and everything else....add seconds, take away seconds, teams running the ball with a first and ten and the clock showed 3rd and 5 to go!!! Yikes!!!!! Then the fact that the stands at Athens were dangerously oversold and overpacked....in an emergency no one could have been helped....game should have been played at Dakota or Chippewa Valley in my mind....still cant figure out how a punt is blocked, hits the Clarkston player, bounces off of him, Stevenson recovers and yet the zebras rule Clarkston ball and a first down!!!!!!
Please somebody that knows the rules, really knows the rules explain that to me.....Tyler Scarlett is the real deal...that kid hit some solid completions and moved his team very well, but Fracassa was better and proved it time and again....still a disastrous fumble by Clarkie with under a minute to go returned the ball to Stevenson with Clarkie ahead by four....Stevenson kept churning and with Stevenson burning up it's last time out....game over???? wouda, couda, shouda have been...but the Titans fought like Siberian Tigers and then Fracassa pulls his magic act to the total amazement of the world with a TD pass with no time left on the clock....still almost unbelievable finish to a classic game....Clarkston virtually every bit as good as Stevenson and they proved it...last year it was Stevenson who took a gut crunching loss to LO, with a miraculous 49 yard field goal with 3 seconds on the clock....Fracassa with last night's game now holds the state record for passing in a season with over 4000 yards and a mind boggling 42 TD passes this year....amazing....Bye will never have another like him...question that will linger for ages in Clarkston why didnt Clarkie coach take a knee to run the clock out with less than a minute to go?? Why, Why, Why???? Now onto Ford Field and the MAC best vs the catholic league best....no predictions and I wont have any...two tremendous teams to play each other.....
DLS: they get beat by a good Inkster team...DLS can only put up 3 pts on the board and that just aint good enough to win it...DLS has the ball inside the Inkie 30 yard line 3 times in the first half and could not score...DLS with ball on Inkie 3 yard line and they could not score a TD settling for a FG....happens...a TD by Inkie with less than one minute remaining put it away for Inkie....DLSs defense rock solid tough the whole game though.....after a rough start DLS came back strong the rest of the season in supposedly a rebuilding year.....Stevenson again - losing top running back Justice Wright puts a severe hurt on the Titans..yet they keep winning...how many teams can do that losing their very top runner and having to be nearly one dimensional with Fracassa having to pass 50 times a game??? Go figure.....U of M: hopeless and lost....you can only hope the rumors about Jim Harbaugh coming back to Meechegan will be true....Pudge Rod like putting a square peg into a round hole with this program......too many glaring problems with Mich to write about....Wings: pray to the lord Kronwall is not lost to serious injury after getting a cheap shot knee to his body last night by a Montreal cement head....Wings can ill afford to take any more injuries to key players....

Stevenson wins, Stevenson wins..!!!! Almost too bizarre of a game to believe....Clarkston with a lead and possession of the ball with 50 seconds or so on the clock does not, repeat does not take a knee to run the clock out....Stevenson recovers a fumble and Fracassa did his Harry Houdini magic act passing for a TD with 0 seconds on the clock...too great of a game to try and explain...except how in the world does Stevenson block a kick, hit the Clarkston defender who fumbles the ball back to Stevenson and then the zebras give the ball back to Clarkston with a first down?????????? Where in the world is that covered in the book???? Answer: it is in a rule book from the planet mars....Stevenson crowd goes insane, berserk with totally unbelievable finish.....a massive crowd 5 deep in the end zone and people even standing on the baseball bleachers 40 yards behind the end of the field watching....had to be 12-13000 fans there......onto Ford Field for the MAC RED!!!!!!

Hi posters, two biggies tommorrow on the east side and again I feel they are both toss ups even though DLS had an easy ride getting to this point...the GP teams and SF not much competition just like I thought....how bad will that hurt them tommorrow??? Hard to say...but the old saying is a sword is tempered by fire....hot fire....I am agreeing with you that the Clarkston coach wants to keep Stevenson's offense off the field as much as possible to negate Fracassa, plus put on some serious defensive rushes and try to sack Fracassa as much as possible.....Stevenson's OL will not be intimidated by that though and I will bet Stevenson has more beef on the hoof on the OL and DL than Clark Kent has.....Plus Clarkie needs to score first....maybe even a 10-0 lead in the first quarter to put Stevie in a hole somewhat....Dakota has done that for years and years in their big heydays.....get a big early lead and then coast after that......I am hearing wild predictions on the crowd size too.....11-13000 possible from what I am hearing....they may be 3-4 deep in the end zones....Markowski, Beard, McCabe and a lot of press to cover this game....concession lines may be 60 ft. long...eat before you get there....and please all late comers dont come walking up into packed stands and try to squelch your way into a loaded row.....happens all the time....some nitwit gets there at 5 to seven and then expects a 50 yard line seat....no doubt the DLS crowd will be going to the game also....their game should be over at fashionable Ferndale by about 3:30 or so.....I will be on a Verskie watch.....Tickets $12.00 each to FF for the final games...heard that one too.....was ten bucks before.....
Perfect meal after FF next week - lamb chops, rice, greek salad, some garlic bread and two cold ones....love feta cheeese also on my salad.....might head over after to Ike's on Van Dyke at 17 mile rd or so for that....some great food there.....not a lot of choice on Harper avenue in the Shores too much anymore......Later, Tom and peace to all.....

Hi posters- some bits and pieces of eight....I dont know about you guys but I am sick to death of seeing Kwayme on television telling judges and prosecutors he cant remember if he or his wife paid the electric bill last month...and his wife handles all the money and he does not know how much they owe or dont have....yikes!!!! Finally Detroit is getting rid of riff raff at city hall and the council offices it appears....Dave Bing and Warren Evens - top tag team for Datryooote as Coleman would say...how about Robert Bobb too, he has cleaned up a septic tank in the schools and making people accountable for their actions including athletes..in short flunk a bunch of subjects and you will not play sports....enuf politics for today and Grosse Pointer thanks for your support but I shouldnt get so carried away sometimes....Throw strikes, are you a baseball ump or a FB official???? Just curious.....I am secretly hoping for a DLS/Rice Krispies game at FF and a Stevenson/CC game there too....Stevenson vs. CC...MAC RED vs. the catholic league - finally....like King Kong vs. Godzilla...wasnt there a movie called "King Kong vs. Godzilla" many years ago???? Also will enjoy seeing two of the best high school QBs in years tommorrow at Athens...sort of like Fracassa vs. Scarlett....who is going to put up the better stats??? Have been hearing Ike's BB team is the team to beat in macomb county this year...Brandon (Mr. Jump up and down) Lemley has a top cast led by Oakland bound Corey Petrus at 6-8 or so....Dont forget Rosie will be tough too......you have got to love Lemley when he jumps up and down and his tie is flying all over the place and his shirt comes out of his pants and is hanging down...good stuff.....word is Fraser High will win a FB game before the next 8 years or so...what is going on there??? 5 seasons in a row or so of 1-8 and 0-9.....at least they have a top notch VB team year after year...wonder what former BA coach Mario is doing now.....
Heard he is BA coach at a Lutheran school....Did Angelo Gust get the BA manager's job at Anchor Bay???? AB, Fraser, who is more hapless in FB????
PT Phily, keep up the good posting...I like your enthusiasm.....wonder whatever happened to Keith McKenzie former standout BB player at DLS...he went to Oakland and barely got on the floor, quit and left I hear.....Mike Bramos signed a fat contract to play BB in Europe...very fat I heard.......I have been scouring the internet trying to find an "Ampipe Bulldogs" varsity letter jacket like the one Tom Cruise wore in "All the Right Moves"....cant find one.....Craig T. Nelson was great as the hard a...coach in that movie.......see you guys tommorrow and remember "52 Stack Monster"....all game goal line defense!!! ha-ha...

Hi posters, getting close to sat and some high powered games....the news panel (Markowski, Beard, etc.) have all picked Stevenson unamiously and Inkster to beat Clark bar and DLS easily.....dont know about that....I think DLS has the potential to either win close or lose close...you make the call....same with Stevie Nicks and Clark Bar.....if Justice Wright was in there for Stevenson with his 100 yard running game Stevenson had the possibility of a rout.....wonder what the Clarkston coach has planned to stop Fracassa from doing his usual Tom Brady passing job.....his defense will be picked apart like chicken wings if he cant stop Fracassa from passing all over the field.....SE found that out....that game may be won in the trenches and does Clarkston have the beef on the OL and DL Stevenson has???? Yet, Clarkie beat MAC powers Romeo and Juliette and Dakota rather easily.....could we have overtime or a late FG to decide it....could be, would be, should be.....hope that the MHSAA has sent some decent officials to work this game and not buddies, pals and friends of their upper echelon....that wont work.....
CC vs. Holt at 1 p.m. too...hope they have some updates for that one at fashionable Ferndale....all these invitations for breakfast and dinners....I dont need more weight but getting out of parking lots can be a bear...at Stevenson with a packed crowd dont ever park up close to the field....will take you 35-45 minutes to get out of there..more if the boys in blue have only one car there....
Eastsider 91 the Gathering Place sounds like a good place to park but I hope they dont start towing cars...have seen that too....at Utica High people would park in the parking lot at Big Boys on 21 and Van Dyke and walk to the stadium....then they towed about seven cars one night a couple years ago.....$150 bucks to get it out of tow....
Was reading in the newspapers recently that high school and sports stadiums in general have the worst food in the world for you...hot dogs, salty popcorn, nachos with hi cal cheese, pizza slices, sugar loaded pop, yuk!!!

Was reading in the macomb daily today a scoop on DLS's BB team this year....despite what the guru says this might be the weakest team he has ever had....not very tall and no dead on shooters like Fowler, McKenzie, and Marky......
Hmmmnnnn.....no body is going to beat the Detroit PSL, Saginaw, Flint, Pontiac in the regionals anyway.....Pershing might not lose a game all year this year.....whoda thunk about that???? Might just stop over at the Gathering place for a cold one just at that......

If they beat Rockie Balboa they must very goooooddd....no picks there.....Jerk Store your Marian VB team is a machine...reminds me a lot again of the Fraser team when the McGinnis sisters among others were there 4-5 years ago....Angie McGinnis still best VB I have ever seen in high school....two state championships in a row with them and a runner up I believe.....Bluewater Icon who is Mr. Letsyn??? Maybe he needs all the money he can get like 98.9% of the rest of us.....holy cow, they closed down Noonan-Pontiac GMC at 18 and VD in Sterling Hts....they sold Ponties and GMC for over 30 years over there...this recessions is something else....dont want the medical bill to pass: consider this hospital and doctor and medicaire bills went up 700% in the past ten years....ugh!!! Medical bills are going up higher than the budget at the Pentagon. Dont know the answer for sure.....still would try and pass socialized medicine like Canada has...they make it work for everyone and no you dont have to wait 11 years for an open heart surgery....this is all lies.....I havent had a 700% raise in the past ten years I will tell you.....and those copays are more sometimes than the actual cost of seeing the docs....whew!!!

Hi posters, ladies and gents alike....some apologies might be in order for me....have never intended to malign a school, coach or player that I can remember....I might say a team is "hapless" what I am referring to is the program not the players or coaches in general.....I have tooted plenty of horns in my day for beloved MAC....Stallons, Hush, Gay, Fracassa, Wright, Mike G...etc...hope the best for all of them....best to Bob Lantzy at Ike and Rick Bye at Stevenson FB....class guys who will be sorely missed when they hit the rocking chair....also lots of kudos to Big Frank at GP North and the Greeser at South....good guys....big Frank, how are your bad knees doing???? I know you read this column.....talking about coaches getting on officials...some umps, refs, etc. rarely say much to all those guys I have mentioned as far as I know....usually they b.....when they have a good reason...a real good reason.....hope the officials are decent sat night at Athens...have seen some louseeee officiating in the FB playoffs so far....lots of out of bound calls made when the camera shows a player was inbound...and then the goofball who walked off a 15 yd penalty at the Dakota/Stevenson game the wrong way!!!! Not to mention dropping flags accidentally....geezzzzee!!! To all of you other posters I hope to continue writing but some of my comments can be harsh....not all honey is sweet as you know...."callzem as we's seeze them".....FB playoffs - no predicitons from me...all the teams left in Div 1 and 2 are very good...hard to say who will win....Stevenson/Clarkie game might be the hardest to predict...two powerhouse teams with excellent QBs and coaches too.....Dont count out DLS at Ink Blot....DLS has been coming on a lot lately....they play that Esler in your face defense and are well coached....
CC will get a severe test vs. Holt....a severe test.....no room for error in any of these games....

Hi posters, back in the saddle again....Jerk Store, what do I think of Marian's VB team??? Good team, but if I were them I would watch all the tapes I could of Fraser High's VB team from the early-mid 2000s with the McGinnis sisters....there will never be another trio of sisters like that...two state championships in a row in Div 1 and runner up the next year....Angie McGinnis all american at Florida as one of the best VB players in the country after she grad fron Fraser and her sisters were very talented as well....that is what I think.....also the MAC RED in VB is absolutely second to none with Fraser, Lanse Creuse, GP North and now Ike in the final four in Div 1.....more medals for the MAC....as for Seaholm and Groves, well..I will be quiet about them.....
I have heard posters that Stevenson will be the home team on sat night at Athens...they had more pts from the MHSAA....this game has the potential to draw 12000 fans or so...be prepared for a monster crowd with two of the best QBs in the state going against each other....sort of like Brady vs. Manning...should be a close game...7-10 pts at best difference in the score to me....by the way "congrats to Alex Conklin"....who dat???? DLS Rules you are good Bud...funny how some posters bang a drum about their teams...when DLS was losing early in the season their posters were quieter than a church mouse....DVI returned like Lazarus recently...hmmmmmnn.......best BA teams for a long time...the GP South blue Devils....the Greeser teaches baseball the right way there....patience, know the strike zone, excellent runners and fielders, bunting at any time, usually great defense and they dont make very many mental blunders....a college team would be wise to hire Dan G.....
His team never mouths off to the umps.....ever....that I can see....plus that 240 ft fence to dead center there.....sort of like the Polo Grounds....left at South about 335 ft., 240 to center and about 315 to right field....Polo Grounds 265 and 270 down the lines and an absurd 500 ft. to dead center.....plus the rats in the club house...it got so bad one time that Casey Stengel would not take a shower there...he took a car to a local YMCA to take a shower according to rumors at that time......plus when the NY Mets played there in 1962-63 the field was lumpy as a rock pile....the corridors reeked of smoke and urine....saw this all on ESPN classic one time......miss TS terribly but still glad we have CoPa and it's amenities....
Lions: will be terrible for more years....how long will the tag team of Stafford and Schwartz last??? Hard to say...their defense could not stop Stevenson and Clarkston's offense.....if they lose to the hapless Browns sunday, it will mark another disgusting season for the Lions....who can they beat???? Maybe Delaware State....

Right now even bringing your "A" game to a playoff game might not be enough....you need luck, luck and plenty of skill and no fear at all...I guess!!! Hi posters Tom W. back at ya and I must have some rebuttals against idiotic/moronic comments about myself and my friends....Baseknock you are free to like or dislike whom you may...I have never knocked you or some of your purple and gold drivel have I??? If you love DLS like I do the MAC that is your preference isnt it???? MPrepster from S/Field I must admit I dont know much about Div 3 teams...It would be totally impossible on every friday and sat to see every team in the state play but I am sure there are plenty of quality teams there.....Dryphoenix you need to be taken behind the woodshed with your Eddie Haskell remarks......first Stevenson high school did not release a press report on the condition of Justice Wright...I heard from some fans and a couple lower level coaches on his condition....Second oh wise one, Stevenson's running game was not much since Fracassa threw over 55 passes in the game...not needed much against a big, lumbering team like SE....and yes the loss of Wright is critical.....remember when DLS lost Jimmy Berezak a few years ago and DLS couldnt recover from it???? Thirdly Mike G is a high class act at Dakota...if he said what he said I totally believe him.....
Actually I travel south of 696 to go see the Tigers play and the Wings sometimes if I can afford the $5000 seats in the lower bowl......next I never said S/Field was a "creampuff" I said they played in a lower level in the OAA....next oh wise one I have never called out any player or coach by name as being "bad" or "lousy"....I talk of a team's record in general...I have never said players or a coach was a lousy person....show me and everyone else the post plase....and Dryphoenix I will not need your advice on anything except when to come out of the rain....if you dont like people's posts then read something else in your life....and lastly I am not BM...repeat not BM....DVI are you back posting again??? Hi posters, next sat promises to be one hell of a FB day....the plans have been set...we will go to the DLS/Inkblot game at 1 p.m. and sat at 7 p.m. Clark Kent vs. Stevie Nicks.....I have no predictions since these two games should be dog eat dog hi strung affairs....Stevenson is hinging on the possibility of Justice Wright being back in the lineup from what I hear...w/o him their running game is very average....two very highly talented QBs in Scarlett O'Hara and Peyton Fracassa.....according to Markowski Fracassa went over the top last friday against SE: Consider - he threw 4 TD passes good for 488 yards and accounted for all of Stevenson's 5 TDs...whew!!! I dont think Tom Brady and Peyton Manning could do that together in one game!!!! Fans, get out to see Mr. Fracassa next sat....you are seeing something special and dont forget the kid is a top notch SS on the baseball team...a Derek Jeter type who is a line drive hitter....word is he is getting a BA scholly.....Bye may never have another like him again....

CC goes to overtime at home to beat Canton....must have been a hell of a game....DLS smokes a so-so SF team who plays in a rather weak OAA conference....the only real powers in the OAA at all are LO and Clark Kent....game with Stevenson and Clarkie next week will be Packed like a can of sardines....Oakland county vs. Macomb County so to speak....who can predict the winner between two 13-0 teams????
DLS at Inkster???? Is that right....DLS is rising from the dead but playing GP North/South was not much competition at all.....SF not much better if at all than the GP teams.....

MAC AD's realign teams every 2-3 years based on enrollment and records so to speak...however, ADs and coaches politick like hell to get the best schedule.....consider DLS scheduling hapless teams like Det Henry Ford, Flint Carmen

Yeah they have won more but not late-leeee.....CC vs. Stevenson or Clarkie at FF would be a hum dinger no doubt....no bets from me......and YAE the two best players in the state I have seen is Peyton Fracassa at Stevenson and William Ghoulston at SE...who's better???? Fracassa broke every record there ever was in his four year career so far at Stevenson....over 100 TD passes and passing for over thousands of yards in his career....the real dee-eel........it gets better every week gents.....one more to get to FF.
