To be fair, I only watched the final minutes, just to see what all the commotion was about for myself. But from the sound of the things, this crew was all-around poor and not what you should expect for such an important game.
Clarkston vs. Steveson
After seeing the replay, clearly those Clarkston players were robbed...but their coaches shouldn't have put them in that position by not going to the victory formation. I am glad that the announcers didn't try and sugarcoat anything by being very honest and equal in their commentating. Sure, it's gonna sting Clarkston fans and many others seeing Stevenson play this weekend, but nonetheless, good luck to them. The Titan offense and Shamrock defense is one of the most intriguing match-ups a state finals could have, setting up for what should be a terrific game.
Updates
Inkster 12 De La Salle 3; 6-3 at halftime. 20yard field goal from Brugnoni. DLS had a 3rd down inside the five, QB lofted a pass, interception returned 96 yards for the first score - missed PAT. Inkster had two possessions in the first half for 10 plays. Pilots threw two interceptions; picked off Gardner twice, and stripped him for a recovery inside the 30, but just couldn't capitalize on the turnovers.
Lowell 35 Brother Rice 14, late in the 4th quarter.
Great runs by the Warriors and Pilots, but come up to a heartbreaking end. Good luck to Arrows and Vikings next week..my pick is Lowell by 10.
Catholic Central 31 Holt 0
Total domination by the Shamrocks. Ran all over Holt. Defense, as usual, played outstanding, including a key goal line stand in the first half.
OLSM 30 Dewitt 7, last I heard in the fourth.
While D2 won't get any representatives, the Catholics will get a spot in 1 and 3, with the Eaglets coming full circle, hoping to avenge that 21-7 seasoning opening loss to East Grand Rapids.
Marshall 47 Marine City 16 ..don't think many expected a score/outcome like that.
Good luck to Clarkston and Stevenson in tonight's show down!
...also, congrats to CMU tight end David Blackburn (Detroit, DLS) who caught his first collegiate TD reception earlier this week, then following it up with another in the Chippewas 35-3 blowout.
The Scene, ahem......
Finals are still $10.00, Tom. Maybe you have too much ear wax build up. The $10.00 allows you to watch 1-4 games.
Doing the UM vs. OSU thing, but if DLS gets in - I will see you all (except you Tom) @ Ford Field.
The Scene, ahem..
Yes, Gardner is the best player in the state, with Ghoulston a close second. He can do it with both his arms and legs, and from what several have said, his playmakers on offense have let him down in the past. If he sticks with his Univ. of Michigan commitment, he will be starting by next season. It's easy to break the records when you start every game since your freshman year.
Also, I'd wish you would read a whatever you read a little better. Holt beat Rockford; Lowell isn't even in Division 1.
Yes, Brother Rice and the Catholic schools have been around much longer - but the fact that just ONE of those schools outdoes the entire conference of the MAC is very, very impressive. Also, the Warriors were established in 1960, hardly '575 years' behind the MAC.
Scores
Brother Rice buries Midland 49-21. De La Salle easily controls Southfield 27-6. Don't think many saw the Warriors winning with such ease. The Bluejays were severly overmatched..not saying this was a Pilot domination, but more Southfield just not looking that great.
That was my first look at DLS this year, and the look like a good bunch. I'm physically impressed with the frosh QB, and as his career goes on, developing and learning the offense, he could be a tremendous player his senior year. O'Shell looking very slimmed down, but didn't look like he lost any power.
Catholic Central 31 Canton 24 (OT)
Packed stadium. Back and forth the entire game. Cap ran for TD in OT, and CC defense held on on a 4th and 12. Canton puts up 60 points last week, double what the Shamrocks had given up all year..but the CC defense really stepped it up when needed. Tom Mach is going strong and will continue one of his finest seasons in all his 30+ years next week against Holt(in a rematch of 2007 Regional final), who upset Rockford 27-13. Not sure many, if any, saw that coming.
Lowell and Rice meet in what should be a punishing game, while La Salle looks to not stop, but just try and contain Devin Gardner, the best player in the state - should be a good one.
St. Mary's topped Crockett 14-0, with gooseggs going into the 4th. Sounds like an ugly one, but that makes the Central 4-0 - four regional titles in 2009.

GPNdadDLSgrad - not if Notre Dame scoops him up first!!
Central Michigan is at least representing football in this state very well, for once getting a chance to show their dominance on national television.
Coming home for the Springsteen show Friday night(which should be fantastic)and finally get to see my first football game all year @ Southfield on Saturday(the site of probably my greatest sporting memory)
I had my upset watch for Dakota this week..still too close to call for someone who hasn't seen either play. Go Pilots and good luck to everyone this weekend!
Scores
DLS 21 GPN 7
North couldn't do anything against the DLS defense. Pilot frosh QB played very well. Possibly could've been more points for DLS, but a couple huge drops in the first half prevented.
Rice 24 Adams 7
Dakota 28 Ike 10
Eisenhower put up the first touchdown, but Dakota seemed too much as the game played on.
Clarkston 21 Romeo 3
Lowell 26 Muskegon 19
Lowell steps it up for probably their biggest game and toughest competition so far this year.
Rockford 14 Grand Haven 7
Congrats to the CHSL and MAC teams who claimed district titles tonight, and good luck to CC, Stevenson, and the rest of the state tomorrow night!
GPN vs. DLS
Earlier in the week, I said "GPN by 3 on a late turnover". Now, I am not so sure.
Maybe its that bet I placed with BigDVI.
Maybe its the predictable play calling by the North coach.
Maybe its the threat of another fake punt.
Maybe its the 2% chance that Tom Winslow (Big Mike) attends
Maybe its the DLS freshman QB who is underrated
Maybe, just maybe, North does win.
LET IT RIDE!
GO NORSEMEN!
For the record re: Dakota/Ike
Which one did I have wrong?

The Scene, ahem.....
You neglected to mention the 2008 DLS vs. GPN slaughter.
Now, I would be remiss if I also didn't mention the infamous "FAKE PUNT" when DLS was up 31 -0 in the 4th qtr.
Hopefully; Revenge is sweet! If the North can't beat a freshmen QB, they don't deserve to go any farther. I believe the tough DLS defense will limit Tommy Watkins yardage but its just a question of it will be < 200 or < 100 or < 50 yards.
GPN by 3 on a late turnover and 36 yard TD by Watkins with a missed extra point.
2009 State Champion Picks
Big mistake - Detroit CC plays in Division 1. They beat Franklin today 42-7, I believe.
