TW - Please see my comments on the field a few posts down, Athens stadium MUCH better suited than Dakota's. 'Nuff said on that. My hit of the game? The absolute WOOD that the SHS aftie laid on the Clarkston receiver in the fourth. I do honestly regret that the Wolve's guy got hurt..I do.. but that was the best hit on a receiver I have seen ion quite a few years at the high school level, he didn't even see it coming..your thoughts?

The Scene, ahem......

Hi posters, it still appears the smoke has not been cleared and wont be for a long time about the Clarkie/Stevenson game last night...from what I heard in the stands MHSAA selects officials from "lists and recommendations" to one of the top cheeses that runs the officials there....in a FB playoff crew several different members from different crews are put together based on "ratings" (or favoritism if you will***)....these guys some of whom have never worked together must get together in the locker room before the game and discuss their styles and where they are suppoed to be......harumph.....never mind the fact they may not be compatible with each other......go figure....no disrepect intended but the official working on the sideline by the Clarkston bench was not very mobile and constantly behind the play all night long....even some girls nearby were talking about him......go figure.....at least as far as I know they didnt blow any out of bounds calls like I have seen in the past four weeks....whew!!! I am glad we did not have a medical emergency last night in the stands....that stadium (Athens) was shamefully oversold on tickets and EMS personnel would have had a very hard time getting to an emergency.....several of the smaller BB gyms are that way too....no I am not going to mention the one in Warren.....plus the person running the clock, dont want to get into that one again...absolutely pathetic.....first and ten and the clock showed second and five, etc.....

Wonder if Mach and his boys were there scouting out things.....more than likely....alarming thing last night was all the Clarkston players going down on the ground over and over after getting their clocks rung by Stevenson's much bigger linemen and LBs......thank goodness it didnt appear they were hurt too bad....wonder how may dogs they sold last night????? probably enough pop to fill up a swimming pool.....the concession stands must have made a king's ranson on the concessions sold...lines were very long....Stevenson vs. CC....they might get 15000 alone into FF to see the game on sat.....all the catholic league haters vs. the MAC haters.....sort of like the Hafields vs. the McCoys....blood runs thick in the two leagues.....just hope the parking lot vendors dont jack the prices way up...but dont bet on it....to all you good guys and posters was hoping to meet some of you last night but the crowds you could not find a needle in a naystack last night....

Hope to see some of you at FF on sat.....so long for now...

Later, Tom and peace to all.......

Finals are still $10.00, Tom. Maybe you have too much ear wax build up. The $10.00 allows you to watch 1-4 games.

Doing the UM vs. OSU thing, but if DLS gets in - I will see you all (except you Tom) @ Ford Field.

The Scene, ahem......

Hi posters, two biggies tommorrow on the east side and again I feel they are both toss ups even though DLS had an easy ride getting to this point...the GP teams and SF not much competition just like I thought....how bad will that hurt them tommorrow??? Hard to say...but the old saying is a sword is tempered by fire....hot fire....I am agreeing with you that the Clarkston coach wants to keep Stevenson's offense off the field as much as possible to negate Fracassa, plus put on some serious defensive rushes and try to sack Fracassa as much as possible.....Stevenson's OL will not be intimidated by that though and I will bet Stevenson has more beef on the hoof on the OL and DL than Clark Kent has.....Plus Clarkie needs to score first....maybe even a 10-0 lead in the first quarter to put Stevie in a hole somewhat....Dakota has done that for years and years in their big heydays.....get a big early lead and then coast after that......I am hearing wild predictions on the crowd size too.....11-13000 possible from what I am hearing....they may be 3-4 deep in the end zones....Markowski, Beard, McCabe and a lot of press to cover this game....concession lines may be 60 ft. long...eat before you get there....and please all late comers dont come walking up into packed stands and try to squelch your way into a loaded row.....happens all the time....some nitwit gets there at 5 to seven and then expects a 50 yard line seat....no doubt the DLS crowd will be going to the game also....their game should be over at fashionable Ferndale by about 3:30 or so.....I will be on a Verskie watch.....Tickets $12.00 each to FF for the final games...heard that one too.....was ten bucks before.....

Perfect meal after FF next week - lamb chops, rice, greek salad, some garlic bread and two cold ones....love feta cheeese also on my salad.....might head over after to Ike's on Van Dyke at 17 mile rd or so for that....some great food there.....not a lot of choice on Harper avenue in the Shores too much anymore......Later, Tom and peace to all.....

The Scene, ahem......

Hi posters again...to the "Natural" from ROak.....thanks for the clarification on Chad O'Shell...a runner in the mold of Jimmy B....got them confused a bit....good luck to DLS vs. Inkie.....still would not mind seeing a DLS/Ricie game at FF coming up...that would be a dandee....Rockford is out....whoda thunk???? Right now even bringing your "A" game to a playoff game might not be enough....you need luck, luck and plenty of skill and no fear at all...I guess!!! In the hard to stay on top dept, Fordson, Rockie, and Lake Orion all gone....you just never know.....Dakota too...but they have Marcus Hughes and Mark Morris returning next year while Stevie Nicks loses a l-o-t........how do you replace a Jason Fracassa and Justice Wright and other top notch receivers.....all the teams left, no predictions from me...all are top notch....Later, Tom and peace to all.....(****Go Lions....looks like a 1-15 record this year...wonder if Jim Schwartz really realizes what he got hiself into????)****

Sat. 11/14/09 10:09 PM

The Scene, ahem......

Hi posters, the hot action continued today and some big games....Rockie is upset by Lowelll...whoda thunk?????

CC goes to overtime at home to beat Canton....must have been a hell of a game....DLS smokes a so-so SF team who plays in a rather weak OAA conference....the only real powers in the OAA at all are LO and Clark Kent....game with Stevenson and Clarkie next week will be Packed like a can of sardines....Oakland county vs. Macomb County so to speak....who can predict the winner between two 13-0 teams????

DLS at Inkster???? Is that right....DLS is rising from the dead but playing GP North/South was not much competition at all.....SF not much better if at all than the GP teams.....

Brother Rice my pick to win it all in Div 2.....Div 1 is wide open with powerhouse teams.....Tonysmith MC from Port Huron you brought up velly intersting points abouyt Marine City....there are inequities in all conferences though....hapless Ford II in the MAC RED...ridictulous!

Anchor Bay could not beat a Pop Warner team in FB.....

MAC AD's realign teams every 2-3 years based on enrollment and records so to speak...however, ADs and coaches politick like hell to get the best schedule.....consider DLS scheduling hapless teams like Det Henry Ford, Flint Carmen

Aimsworth and others over the years....Verskie wanted to fatten up his record too to get his six wins.....as for MC

what is is what is....no doubt MC should move up to the MAC Blue.....Jerkstore havent we covered this again and again and again....all the catholic league teams like U of D, CC, DLS, OL St.Mary;s have been around for 575 years....the MAC (Macomb Athletio Conferece) since the mid 70s....duh!!!

Yeah they have won more but not late-leeee.....CC vs. Stevenson or Clarkie at FF would be a hum dinger no doubt....no bets from me......and YAE the two best players in the state I have seen is Peyton Fracassa at Stevenson and William Ghoulston at SE...who's better???? Fracassa broke every record there ever was in his four year career so far at Stevenson....over 100 TD passes and passing for over thousands of yards in his career....the real dee-eel........it gets better every week gents.....one more to get to FF. Later, Tom and peace to all......(*****by the way whatever happend to Markowski's friday night program at 10:30 in the news sports)******

Regarding the headcount, DLS is at 1650 and CC at 2094. Those are really 825 and 1047 since one gender schools are doubled for classification. So what if they play CC, GPN plays Mott and Cousino who are D1 while GPN is D2. This info is all at MHSAA.com.

TW - Didn't "graduate" to DLS, was supposed to go to ND but the family moved. Went to IKE, got a great college prep education and football program, much better football program than at DLS.

The Scene, ahem......

Hi posters, Tommy gun back at you and the name is Tom not BM or his ilk...pleeze!!!! He actually was no more idiotic than CHSL Slappy was on a lot of stuff and certainly not more arrogant and ridiculous as Big DVI in my opinion......

Onward....Eastsider 91 a little history for you....Dakota has beaten Ike what the past 5-6 times they played before Ike whupped them a couple of weeks ago....I said the game would be Dakota by 3-7 pts...that is not much margin for a victory...yes, Ike could win but I still like the Cugas...just my opinion....by the way will they still give the Cuga scream on the loud speakers friday night????

Wonder if the bonfire will be very big.....I might take over a package of Kowalski brats.....Macomb, DLS plays Div 2 and CC Div 1???? What is the headcount difference 100 or so students maybe...scratching my head....Southeastern: certainly will be mystery meats if they play a MAC RED team.....who knows what is in their tank and certainly they will be playing a much more disciplined, well coached team than they have played before.....PSL to me - power running backs and some LBs....weak to no kicking game, and poor to average QBs.....if SE gets behind early in the MAC RED the clock might start running before the half.....Detroit PSL no way the caliber of top MAC RED or OAA top teams in Div 1....CC vs. SE would be a good game though......look out for Rockford though....they seem to like Ford Field at lot....ha-ha.....can DLS catch lightning in a bottle and win again and again and then face Rice, Roches Adams, or so????? we shall see what we shall see......Eastsider 91 what is east of Schoneherr thinking???? Is there a difference between Highland Park and Detroit???? Centerline or Warren??? E. Detroit or Roseville???

Also E. sider 91 if you went to St. Anne's why didnt you "graduate" to DLS?????

Thousand dollar tickets to the Winter Classic at Fenway Park with Bruins and Flyers I hear......wonder if anyone will try to hit the green monster with a puck in the air???

Later, Tom and peace to all.......

Wed. 10/21/09 05:25 PM

The Scene, ahem......

Hi posters, all kinds of possibilities for the playoffs starting next week....DLS making news again...ESPN analyst admits having affair with former all county SS Steve Phillips....Phillips did not deny the affair with a 22 year old girl....Phillips is in his late 30s, early 40s....oh well, if Tom Brady can do it so can........whatever.......

Then there is is DLS rocky record this year...more than likely they will wind up in Div 2 and if they stay on the east side it will be a lot easier for them than getting conked and zonked at the Adams District....for now that is....all the rankings and first round playoff games will be telecast on Fox sports on sunday afternoon I guess...has that time changed?????

TV talk show loudmouths: Sean Hannity or Glenn Beck....who is your favorite???? Like choosing between onions and garlic.....two cement heads.....enjoy today guys, weather will get nasty again this weekend from what I have heard.....SE has to forfeit a game....how in the world of the buracurcy of the Detroit PSL ever find that a kid was ineligible...?????

This is the school district that had hundreds of computers floating in water in a old school basement flood.......

Yanks and Phils in world series...that should be a dandy....I'll take the Yanks in 5-6 games......this will be a down year for the Pistons, Wings and Lions.....just my hunch.....Jimmy Howard in goal for any stretch of time and the Wings will be barrelled with rubber.....see ya Friday at Stevenson.......Later, Tom and peace to all.....

Mon. 10/19/09 10:26 AM

The Scene, ahem......

Hi posters, early in the day, Eastsider91 you are getting a bit antsy.....Ike more than likely will make the playoffs.....a junior high team could beat hapless Anchor Bay....dont worry too much....problem for Ike is the intensity level goes way up in the playoffs and can they handle it????? Last year they were narrowly beaten by LO and the year before they were chainsawed by LO if my memory serves me right......dont bet on them winning another game vs. Dakota in the playoffs either....G will marshall his forces and have home field with that wild, raucous crowd over there......I highly doubt they could beat Stevenson, very highly doubt it, and a game with Romeo will be a bear rug also....keep the faith bro.......If major league baseball adds anymore teams to the playoffs the world series pretty soon might start after Christmas....ridiculous.....Boston, NY, Philly shivering cold for all the games....you would not want to be a catcher and get a foul tip off your wrist or finger in 27 degree weather....yuk!!!!!

Will Lions win another game this season???? flip a coin...Lions remind me of Montreal Expos and the Pittsburgh Pirates...one had to be moved out of town and the PP are hapless as the Lions are with 17 straight losing seasons....

Hire and fire managers like bingo, inept management, atrocious trades and drafting......the comparisons are nearly amazing....planning on going to Stevenson friday night...the game vs. Mott is there isnt it???? Mott thumping their chests a little...we will see what we see.....

Later, Tom and peace to all...............

The Scene, ahem......

Teams are not chosen based on reputation. Their playoff point averages are used as a basis to make it at 5-4 or to eliminate them at 6-3. If a team is classified as Class A you gain more points for beating them. If your opponents win other games, you accumulate more points. Also, Muskegon lost to Rockford and is on the ropes like DLS is.

The Scene, ahem......

Hi posters, Little Tom at the machine (wife is moaning about me watching baseball and the Red Wings tonight****)

and Eastsider 91 you should be proud of your Ike team...they are good, well coached as always and small as always...they just cannot get down "in the trenches" with their 240 lbs lineman against steers and provide blocking....they have average receivers, an avg QB, and only one solid power runner IMO.......my bets are that DLS and Ike just by their reputation alone will get in the playoffs with 5-4 records....then I just heard that the catholic league director changed DLS's final home game to another team?????? wha am I hearing????? AE, YAE, help me out....

MHSAA will sort all of this political mess out eventually....but if you try to figure out what MHSAA is going to do and who they are going to pare, you are a lot smarter than I am.....dont think for a second that Muskey will be easy to beat in Div 2....Harrision may be a dark horse too....In Div 4 Marine City will be rated no. 1 I am sure.....next week: Stevenson at Romeo and Juliette....couple things to think about, Stevenson playing on a dirt field...they are used to rugs....can they stop Big Ben from ticking his 500 lb clock???? Can Brady Fracassa get his 200+ yards passing again and 3-4 TD passes????? This might be a tougher task for Stevenson than playing the Cugas......in short, whovever wins the MAC RED playoffs will be torn and tattered.....will this finally be the year Rick Bye finally wins the whole enchillada...he certainly deserves it after 32 years....

My pick to win the playoffs: the Cugas....G will have a plan and his steers will wear down the other teams.....however they cannot allow Morris to get sacked like he was getting bagged at Meijers......

Tigers with Marcus Thames and Maglio in the outfield like having beachballs drop in front of them......can Brooklyn Dodgers beat Cards....maybe, 3 in a row?????

I wonder if Walter O'Malley the owner and GM of the Dodgers who moved them out of Brooklyn 50 years ago could walk into a Brooklyn bar, if he would get out alive, even today??????

Tiger stadium gone, but never forgotten...I wonder how many members of the Detroit City Council are even aware today it was torn down....good question?????

Later, Tom and peace to all........

Good Commentary - Can anyone give a 2-3 weeks out possibility for 5-4 teams to make the playoffs? Obviously my IKE guys gave it their all but fell to a better Romeo team (Macomb there is your due). Macomb, though, I have to say, this game, in all of it's weather misery, should give you wonder for other playoff games in inclement weather come November. IKE is clearly the faster team (generally the rule most years against most MAC Red teams), unless you can say otherwise? Should IKE make the cut at 5-4 (expecting a Dakota loss) and Romeo meets IKE in November, should be a fun game. But again, at 5-4 ...does anyone have the formula that they can share?
