Sharon and he SHOCK at being besmirched

Persona nongrata posted:

Leo has changed his names many times because he and his family are in the witless protection program. So he heh heh has an excuse somewhat.

Ha. And TS, I know Hootie's not his real name, my goodness, he's posted his real name and e-mail address a million times, but I still like the name Hootie. Sorry I forgot about you using your real name.

I find it funny that people like Lurker and Leo, etc., have the nastiest things to say hiding behind such silly names as "lurker". What's wrong with Bob, or Tom, etc.? I always said he thought of himself as a comic book herroine.

Sun. 11/22/09 07:39 PM

Real names

In fact, I think the only people who are using their real names, and not afraid to do so, are Elroy, me and Hootie.

Women I can understand not using their real names, but Leo and Bud use three or four names, and Lurker, we'll peeping tom must be already in use.

Sharon and he SHOCK at being besmirched

Bud, how many names do you and Leo go by? I think Hootie told me three or four. I go by one. My name. Not creepy like Lurker and Dirty. I put it out there. If I'm wrong, I admit it, unlike others. I'm sure Lurker's other name is something like peeping tom.

8 Mile received his apology. I'm a big girl and he's a big boy and we're straight.

Faith Talk...Where the offensive get offended

Lurker posted:

You're the one that directly and proudly accused certain Christian people here that they condoned the animalistic gang-rape of women simply because they're lesbians.

What? When? You know, you're really creepy and you seem to enjoy giving out that aura. Please prove to me where I condoned the rape of anyone?

I have been called numerous things on the news forum. All of those not so nice comments were removed by the monitors.

I'm sorry to hear that also. Their attacks were certainly wrong and misplaced. I believe you are a good person and certainly don't deserve to be attacked like that. I'm sorry it happened.

I also understand why you would be upset. When put in context of the discussion, I think most people would have interpreted the same way I did.

Sorry to hear that. I would have never said that about anyone, no matter what the point was that I was trying to make. If you could see where I was upset, then how can you say you understand?

I wonder what your reaction would have been to have someone say that about you? I don't think you'd be so understanding Lynn.

Mirabelle

Mirabelle, with all due respect, you didn't see the post. It was directed to me, under my name, (which is my screen name) and it accused me of a very horrible crime. Believe me, it was not a frivolous you said, he said matter. It came out of the blue and was a direct attack on me, accusing me of something I would never, ever dream of accusing anyone of, besides putting it out there on a public forum.

A Prayer for the Fallen

Tom Waite posted:

Sorry my lost friend. Not true. I encourage you or your friend to prove that. It's a slanderous charge. Something you seem quite familiar with. I sleep well at night thank you. I hope that you can too. I hope your friends pray for you.

I can prove it. I printed the post out before the News deleted the post. According to my legal family, it was slander and you're lucky the News removed it.

The only, and I mean the only reason I'm not pursuing this is because I'm afraid the Detroit News will pull these forums altogether. But don't think for a moment because I am not pursuing this matter you didn't do something very heinous, slanderous and wrong.

When this began you had no idea that I had a disabled daughter. I KNOW you weren't targeting my daughter.

Dirty posted:

Hey, Sharon. Have you ever seen the "limping" gait of those cerebral palsied lucky enough to be able to walk? Lucky now, not so lucky, later, when feet, ankles, knees, hips and spine break down at the continued beating they take in that breathtakingly beautful effort of the afflicted.

How does your sick mind even connect something Hootie didn't say to what you want it to mean?

I think the word "limp" has a few meanings, but how on earth did you connect it with a person with cerebal palsy? I just don't see the connection - it really is all in your mind.

I'm an alcoholic - should I get upset every time someone on the forum mentions a bar, a drink, a bar tender, etc., saying they're making fun of alcoholics? Making fun of my disease? See how stupid that sounds. Hootie mentioned the word limp and somehow now he's making fun of people with cerebral palsy?

Seems like you have the sick mind, not Hootie.

Just a coincedence?

Ah, Abe, I don't believe that. Just like I don't believe the "end times" are coming as recorded in the bible. All of it is crazy to me, but the reality is it's out there. Religious Right, Islam, etc., they are all out here for one thing, controlling people. When you can have a select group controlling the masses, you can dictate whatever you want to be your "religion" and take away anyone's rights, etc.

Just some are more sadistic than others.

Sun. 11/22/09 12:48 PM

but if you didn't accuse Hootie of making fun of your daughter

Sorry, I meant Leo. I got the two confused. Leo - you have been carrying on implying if not outright saying Hootie targeted your daughter. He didn't.

Sun. 11/22/09 12:16 PM

Picking a bone with liars

Bud, I'm sorry, but if you didn't accuse Hootie of making fun of your daughter in his original post, you certainly did IMPLY it. If Hootie would have, in his original post, made fun of your daughter, most of us would have been on him like white on rice. He didn't. It wasn't until you ranted and raved and carried on accusing him of such, then turned around and said he didn't do it, that had some of us scratching our heads.

Your poem, about no one speaking up for anyone, that's really nice if you weren't so selective of who you were going to speaak up for. Most posters here would not speak up for homosexuals, mixed race couples, and how about child molesters? Would you speak up for them if someone came and wanted the "final solution" for them?

Those little poems are quite cute and sweet, but in real life, most people just look and turn their heads Bud. Take for example the women under Islamic and Sharia law - they've already come for them - and where were you and the rest of the forum? Where were you for those little girls? It's continuing in our own backyard, yet you and others ignore the rampant discrimination of Sharia law.

Give me a break - we should all speak up for EVERYBODY, not just cherry pick because its PC to do so, or it's the cause for the day.

Proper Protocol

Tom Waites posted:

You can see how this passage can be distorted by someone with an agenda.

What you don't realize is that it doesn't have to be "distorted" to be put a bad light on the source it came from. It's wrong. No if, ands, or buts.

There are four things you are struggling with that you can't seem to grasp:

1. Who are you to decide if the "source" of any article is an appropriate or trustworthy source. IMHO, if you name a source for your posting, then it is up to the reader to decide whether that post is slanted or not.

2. Two, or three, or four wrongs don't make a right. How hard is that? The god of the OT, IMHO, was a blood thirsty god who showed no love towards his subjects. That's why I don't believe in any organized religion, for that exact reason, they are contradictory and the gods just aren't nice gods.

3. Many sources coming out of the middle east ask that their sources are not revealed out of threat of retribution and/or danger to their families. Iran does not have free press, or any type of freedom. These type of things happening in Iran have been happening for years.

4. I notice that you and Marion do not address the posts from Amnesty International (who have no agenda), the UN website or, for that matter, the heart and soul of Islam, the Quran. Why is that?

Quran 88.1

No. Is that some whacko radio station? I listen to America Left and America Right on Sirius radio in the car. Listening to both of them, I'd say this country's in a whole lot of hurt.

Quran 88.1

"Your Lord inspired the angels with the message: 'I will terrorize the unbelievers. Therefore smite them on their necks and every joint and incapacitate them. Strike off their heads and cut off each of their fingers and toes."

Threading in forums

We are working on adding threading to the forums. Clicking on the headline of a post will now get you related posts in a few different ways.

- If the post was sent to us in response to an article, clicking on that post's headline will retrieve all comments on that article, and clicking on the "See related article" link will send you to the article itself.

- If the comment was submitted in response to a cybersurvey, clicking on the headline will take you to the cybersurvey and its related comments.

- If you click on the headline of a forum post that was simply posted in the forum, you will get all posts with that same headline.

If you want to add a comment to a thread in the forum, use the same headline as the post to which you want to respond.

If you find a problem, please tell us, and thanks in advance for your patience as we work to improve the forums for you.
