Walking your footsteps

Posted by: Elroy

Stories of a great flood appear in almost all cultures around the world. Each is similar in that there was a deluge, but each differ significantly.

I see two possibilities here:

1. The flood story in Genesis was true and was mistakenly translated into different version as humanity spread around the word.

-or-

2. Some cataclysmic world-wide event, that caused flooding globally, spawned many different flood accounts, each to try and make sense of what happened.

If the latter is true, than the biblical version is just one interpretation in hundreds, if not thousands of accounts.

If the first one is true, then why do the stories vary so radically?

To read more of the many and varied flood accounts, you can find a good write up on wikipedia.

Now that we pretty much know a gigantic meteor slammed into what is today the Gulf of Mexico, creating a nuclear winter that killed off the dinosaurs, doesn't it seem likely that the second possibility is most likely the right one?

Enjoy,

Elroy

Threading in forums

We are working on adding threading to the forums. Clicking on the headline of a post will now get you related posts in a few different ways.

- If the post was sent to us in response to an article, clicking on that post's headline will retrieve all comments on that article, and clicking on the "See related article" link will send you to the article itself.

- If the comment was submitted in response to a cybersurvey, clicking on the headline will take you to the cybersurvey and its related comments.

- If you click on the headline of a forum post that was simply posted in the forum, you will get all posts with that same headline.

If you want to add a comment to a thread in the forum, use the same headline as the post to which you want to respond.

If you find a problem, please tell us, and thanks in advance for your patience as we work to improve the forums for you.
