What did fish eat?

Elroy fired off the following barrage of questions:

"If Eve had cut off an animal's head before "the fall," would it have died?"

I suspect it would have died, no?

"Did lions eat grass before the fall?"

I don't know... do they eat grass now?

"What about fish?"

What about fish"

"Did they eat flies, mosquitoes and other fish?"

They probably ate the same sorts of things they eat today.

"And if they did, did the flies and mosquitoes die when they were digested?"

Seems likely, no?

"Did God physically change animals to suddenly have teeth for eating meat after the fall, or did they evolve that way after things started to die?"

Don't know, good question.

"After the fall, when God cursed his creation, was that when the Second Law of Thermodynamics and the Law of Entropy suddenly come into existence?"

I'm suspect "yes" but I'm not qualified enough to answer.

By the by, you posted these questions from me:

Death without cause is a bit odd, don't you think Hugh? That death just happened?

Was your barrage of questions somehow related to my questions? Are you considering responses or are you taking the S.G. Applebee "debating" approach?

What caused death?

The REAL T.G, Friday said:

"I can certainly tell you what DIDN'T cause death: Sin. How do I KNOW this? Simple, because 99.9% of things that die cannot sin."

What you don't know is whether or not the first sin, when sin first entered the world, did or did not cause all living things to become prone to death, you can only speculate. And you don't know what did cause it. "I don't know" is an acceptable answer.

A. Something

The REAL T.G. Friday said:

"Gee, why don't you read my post again? Do you have a problem with comprehending?"

Why don't you just say you don't know?

Is he all powerful or not?

Teresa Sardinha wrote:

"The Scriptures tell us that the Sabbath is the seventh day of the week. "The children of Israel shall keep the Shabbat, observing it throught their generations as an everlasting covenant. It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever; for in six days the Lord made the heaven and the earth, on on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed." (Exodus 31:16-17)"

Elroy asked: "Why did an all-powerful God need to rest and get refreshed?"

He was finished with his work.

"And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made." (Genesis 2:2)

"For he that is entered into his rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from his." (Hebrews 4:10)

"The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath." (Mark 2:27)

Redeemed

TGF,

So then quoting The Bible does not resonate as helpful and authoritative to you S.G.? If Redeemed believes The Bible is a proof text for answers to issues he is discussing, why don't you see the importance of what is being shared with you? It is the Word of GOD

Fri. 07/03/09 11:29 PM

Dillon

TGF,

So we all say it and you disagree. Relax. Get over it. Move on.

It took Billions and Billions of years of evolution to develop the 'advanced being' that you are. You have no knowledge of anything before you were born and no knowledge of any existense after you die. This is your time in the sun S.G. Why are you wasting what little time you have left to 'exist' discussing things you do not believe in on a forum which is titled Faith Talk and you don't have faith?

You seem to be having issues with time management.

Redeemed

Sorry Re, but "rested" implies needing rest--period.

You can quote all the mumbo-jumbo you want, but reality is still reality.

Fri. 07/03/09 10:58 PM

Sorry Redeemed...

sg: "but 'rested' implies needing rest."

For you and me, correct. But not when it comes to God:

Isa 40:21 Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been declared to you from the beginning? Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth? 22 It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. 23 He it is who reduces rulers to nothing, Who makes the judges of the earth meaningless. 24 Scarcely have they been planted, Scarcely have they been sown, Scarcely has their stock taken root in the earth, But He merely blows on them, and they wither, And the storm carries them away like stubble. 25 "To whom then will you liken Me That I would be his equal?" says the Holy One. 26 Lift up your eyes on high And see who has created these stars, The One who leads forth their host by number, He calls them all by name; Because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power, Not one of them is missing.

27 Why do you say, O Jacob, and assert, O Israel, "My way is hidden from the Lord, And the justice due me escapes the notice of my God"? 28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth Does not become weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable. 29 He gives strength to the weary, And to him who lacks might He increases power. 30 Though youths grow weary and tired, And vigorous young men stumble badly, 31 Yet those who wait for the Lord Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.

Why I Quote Scripture

Here are some of the reasons why I quote, and continue to quote, Scripture:

Isaiah 55:11 So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; it will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.

Jeremiah 23:28 "The prophet who has a dream may relate his dream, but let him who has My word speak My word in truth. What does straw have in common with grain?" declares the Lord. 29 "Is not My word like fire?" declares the Lord, "and like a hammer which shatters a rock?

Luke 8:11 "Now the parable is this: the seed is the word of God. 12 "Those beside the road are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their heart, so that they will not believe and be saved. 13 "Those on the rocky soil are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no firm root; they believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away. 14 "The seed which fell among the thorns, these are the ones who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with worries and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to maturity. 15 "But the seed in the good soil, these are the ones who have heard the word in an honest and good heart, and hold it fast, and bear fruit with perseverance.

Luke 16:29 "But Abraham said, 'They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.' 30 "But he said, 'No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent!' 31 "But he said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.'"

John 6:63 "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.”

Romans 10:14 How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? 15 How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, "HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO BRING GOOD NEWS OF GOOD THINGS!"

Galatians 3:2 This is the only thing I want to find out from you: did you receive the Spirit by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith?

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. 13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.

Dillon

I know what you're saying Dillon, I've heard the same thing from other Christians hundreds of times. Problem is, I hear the same thing from Jews, Hindus, Mormons...etc.

You said: "You may hear the same from a Muslim, Jew. Hindu, Mormon. There is a difference. Jesus is the difference. Relax. Calm down. I don’t care that this does not make sense to you. It would not make sense to me if I had not experienced it through faith...etc".

TGF: That's what they ALL say Dillion--EVERY SINGLE ONE of them. The ONLY difference is they replace "Jesus is the difference" with "Buddha is the difference", "Muhammed is the difference", "Joeseph Smith is the difference", "Krishna is the difference"...etc.

Yes or no: If you were born in America before the arrival of the Europeans, you would've said: "The Great Spirit in the Sky is the difference"?

Fri. 07/03/09 10:39 PM

Sorry Redeemed...

... but "rested" implies needing rest.

And then there was this:

Elroy: "Do you believe Mormons, JWs, SDAs and Catholics all follow the same Christ?"

RE: "Mormons - absolutely no. JWs - absolutely no".

Do you know this? Or is it your belief?

And when I ask a Jew: "Do you believe Christians worship the same God", and they say "No"...do they know it, or do they believe it?

Fri. 07/03/09 10:29 PM

Whose God is the most powerful?

From studying the history of religion, one thing becomes perfectly clear: God grew, and grew, and grew, and grew. The more time went by, the more God grew.

It's much like watching two 2nd grade boys arguing over whose dad can beat up the other. "My dad can beat up your dad". "No, my dad can beat up your dad"...etc. Only with most religions, it was "my God can do this", "my God can do that"...etc, all the up to "my God can do anything", "knows everything" "is everywhere at all times"...etc.

This is why the made-up God of Islam didn't have to rest on the 7th day. Because that was another way to one-up the made-up God of the Jews and Christians.

This is also why the first pillar of Islam is: "There is only one God, and Muhammed is His prophet". This means there is ONLY ONE God--period.

And the reason Muhammed did this was because the Bible says: "You shall have no gods before me", which means, or can at least be interpreted as "there are many gods, but you will worship no god before me".

More to come...

Cop out

Elroy,

I am happy that someone thinks that something I said today 'figures'.
