Safety officials have investigated hundreds of Toyota complaints
Obvious we need Bama to appoint a "mat czar" and perhaps even a "throttle by wire" czar!
Toyota's image under scrutiny
Wasn't aware these rice burners used an electronic throttle control rather then a direct cable linkup. In aviation a similar control setup would be called "fly by wire". That being said it would seem the to date culprits are "floor mats" may very well not be the cause at all and electronics are at fault. As usual Toyota is trying to dodge the bullet.
Engineers sweat Chevy Volt details
Worry is well founded as the hype has been unbelievable setting lofty goals in performance while costing as much as a ride offering more room and versatile performance. Would imagine it's success depends a lot on the price of petrol...should we see $4.00 / gallon again they might be attractive but at $2.50 or so I doubt it and they will be just a niche ride. Contradiction with the technology though in that California wants to control TV sales (of course excluding the monsters only the elite can afford)and already having problems with "the grid" during hot summer AC months with zero improvements to that grid!
2010 Ford Fusion named Motor Trend's Car of the Year
This is not going to be to well received in DC. (and Japan for that matter)
GM moving some employees out of RenCen
Seems with Pontiac, Saab, Hummer, and Saturn out of the picture along with a whole lotta support / design / engineering folks GONE the Warren Tech Center would have lotsa room for everyone associated with Bama motors there!
the "NEW" Obamamotors
Not mentioned is the fact Obama motors is losing market share worldwide. They kick in billions of tax payer dollars to save Opel while Germany nixes any assistance.
McCain
Wish McCain was wrong but I'm afraid he's not. Chrysler doesn't have a winner waiting in the wings but a hodge podge of Jeeps and a few Ram pickups while announcing they will chase plug-ins while awaiting Fiat to work wonders meanwhile they continue to lose sales to everyone.
Electric cars to be auto show stars
Just think...Government Motors can yet another year introduce the VOLT. Unfortunate they still won't be available until later NEXT year. (pray for batteries that deliver on the hype).
Challenge for Detroit's "big three"
'Clunkers' sales point to challenges for Detroit's Big 3
Michigan's allegiance to domestic brands is not the national norm
Alisa Priddle / The Detroit News
Michigan car buyers tend to purchase what their neighbors make, but that doesn't matter as much to the rest of the country, according to an analysis of data from the "cash for clunkers" incentive program.
Boy you could have fooled me as I see more and more Zeros and Messerschmidt's on Detroit area roads. Seems like there's very few ties to a couple of generations back when Detroit was "the motor city" and all you saw were Chevy's, Ford's, and Chrysler's.
GM to put electric Cadillac Converj into production Robert Snell / The Detroit News
So that means Government motors not only loses money on the Volt they've added a Caddie.....Attention DC...more bailout required for the "NEW" GM.
GM board decides to keep Opel
Surly there's room for Pontiac, Saturn and maybe even Hummer.
GM U.S. auto sales up 4%; Ford sales rise 3%;
Looking for a link for an article that breaks out October sales for Bamamotors and OLD GM products. Checked out Edmonds but found zip.
Way ta go Ford UAW members.
Apparently you aren't aware of who / what you are competing against!
Ford's turnaround efforts in the United States were dealt a serious blow over the weekend as members of the United Auto Workers rejected a contract changes aimed at matching recent concessions the union gave rivals General Motors Co. and Chrysler Group LLC as part of their government-mandated bankruptcy reorganizations.
Ford will now be at a disadvantage to its domestic competitors, particularly as it still has billions more in debt on its balance sheet. GM and Chrysler were able to erase most of their debt in bankruptcy court.
Show em just how stupid U are Ford UAW!
So far you have been fortunate enough to stay out of the mess over at the other two Detroit firms but now rather then compete and beat them at their own game you've chosen to act like the good old days were back...well they AIN'T.
Analysis: Rejection of Ford-UAW deal spells trouble for region, industry (Detroit News)
Workers at Ford Motor Co. have overwhelmingly rejected an agreement negotiated between the company and the United Auto Workers last month, creating a new challenge for the Dearborn automaker and raising serious questions about the future of labor relations in the troubled industry.
Ford deal with UAW goes down to defeat
Way ta go Ford UAW "no" voters! Show the rest of the country just how much you enjoy your jobs maintained without help for Obamanation. Sure to cost lost sales and jobs in the long run while encouraging Ford management to take future work elsewhere (like overseas).
