Midsize Cars and Chrysler
The K cars did command a lot of market share but keep in mind they had an ENTRYlevel competitor in the Reliant too. Since then they have disbanded the entry level marque to focus on the mid and high end range... good job as they have almost lost thier shirts twice in a relatively short period of time.
Bring back the Plymouth name, throw it on some basic entry level cars T truck which has few features but made for the public not commercial use would be a good product for such a line up. Options could include a CD player,no lap top station no leather seats available ... needs met and a few options available but proced in the $9500.00 to say maybe $14,000 fully loaded models.
Same idea for the midsize cars. Offer a Plymouth branded model and give it 3-4 trim levels don't allow too many options and make sure the base model is dirt cheap.
Let Chrysler focus on pure luxury, let dodge focus on sportiness and performance and let Plymouth focus on being an Entry level car.
And while i'm at it.. make sure the cars and trucks have real names...don't call them the Xt this or than or th X5R or 6IU or any other combination of alphanumeric meaningless garbage. If a person buys a car it should have a car name instead of a laboratory test file number or however they derive those silly and stupis alpha numeric name plates. ( all car companies ) Maybe those cars were actually created to drive people automatically to Sesame Street?
Just a couple of ideas that might actually work.
Cash for who?
the PROBLEM with this Democrat invention to begin with is that a good thought became sour milk when Toyota, Honda, and all other NON U.S. Car companies were allowed to participate. To save the United States Auto Industry a program that would benefit Toyota more seems a bit backward. Why create a program to stimulate sales fo Vehicles built by Ford, Chrysler and Government Motors when the real beneficiaries were Japanese auto companies.
The people who dreamed up this fiasco need to move out of this nation and to the nations they just gave billions to tax free.
Cash for Toyota would have been a better name for the program, Toyota is back in the black now thanks to this idiotic waste of time and money.
I'm all for a program that would give an incentive in the form of a tax credit to the buyers of Chryslers, Fords, Cadillacs, Chevrolets. etc. But ONLY if the vehicle is actually produced inside the borders of the United States. Not in Canada or Mexico or Japan, or south america or europe or Australia or Korea...you get the idea.
Bottom line is this American citizens
OUR DEMOCRAT CONTROLLED GOVERNMENT JUST SCREWED YOU because you let them..
How;s that for a good healthy helping of CHANGE..
I vot to change it again.
any way possible.

Jeep advertising
Seems to me that marketing people would go back to school. Jeeps will not be sold in high volum in New York City EVER...placing ads in subway stations seems to be a waste of time. A better idea would be to lease the sides of 53' trailers owned by trucking companies and let each one of those be seen by oh who knows maybe a few hundred thousand or up to a few million people daily as the truck actually ventures out into the nation and gets the message out where....out where Jeeps are actually sold and out to people who might actually buy them.
But what do I know...I'm just a consumer who never goes to New York City but who lives out in there somewhere in America.
Ram Diesel
The Cummins deal is the catalyst for several sales per year . there are people who will buy a truck based on the engine rather than the name of the truck and with Ford doing somehting different, not offering a Diesel option will only increase market share for GM. Putting the Diesel in and coupling it with the Raser Technologies drive system would give the Ram and edge no one else has or can get soon.
Non Union Car Haulers
The funny thing about this is that Chrysler is now OWNED largely by the UAW. Taking care of thier own aren't they?
CyberSurvey: Can Chrysler tap luxury market?
I have one word to say to the new CEO of Chrysler in regards to a "luxury" brand
IMPERIAL
Hummer being sold
Way to go GM, sell of a popular brand which has much potential, which was created to be just what it is a symbol of American Greatness.. our new era replacement for the rugged Jeep. GM built the brand from scratch like an infant and watched it grow and become great and then stabbed a knife in it's back.Perhaps the Chinese should buy a few other "brands" Pontiac, Saturn, Eagle, Plymouth etc.
Japanese sales climb in 'clunkers' program
Wow..lookie there..this fancy democrat fiasco program to help the U.S. Auto companies................is only helping the very competitor that is the catylist of thier demise.
Go Figure....... GM et. all build junk compared to Toyota and Honda so why would we buy American rolling warranty claims?
Fiat 500 in Mexico
It is a good thing that they plan to build the car in this hemisphere. However.....your article states plainly that Mexico offeres lower labor costs... This is a slap in the face of the very UNION PEOPLE who HASHED out a percentage of ownership of the new Chrysler to protect thier own jobs. Good jobs there mexican unions....you have successsfully beaten down the idiots of the UAW ....the very people who have destroyed the U.S. Automotive industry by electing such an administration... yet again.
cash for clunkers
with 53% of the vehicles being sold those of foreign mfg. who can tell me how this program benefits the United States auto industry and the supposed "american" car companies? Or is this just another way for the abomination government to sell short the American worker and the American job?
So much for helping our economy.....bravo for Japan, Korea etc.
cash for clunkers
Doesn't it figure that the thing that the idiots in Washington think is helping is actually hurting the very people that got them elected. No or less used parts will cause extra expense to poor families who depend on used parts to repair thier cars. The junk yards don't want care that they can't sell parts off of.. I sincerely hope that the dealerships end up with loads of clunkers on the back of the lot that no one wants. Then they should take them all and park them on capital hill.
GM closing Montana metals mine to buy from foreign suppliers.
I just have one maybe two small questions..........
1. Can someone with a 3rd grade education please explain how this creates jobs and helps sustain the UNITED STATES economy?
2.Just how many more people will lose jobs because of this.... mine workers, truck drivers, local service industry workers who will get laid off because the work load drops etc.etc.etc.etc.
Welcome to the "Abomination - Obamanation"
Dealership legislation
Legislation to re-open the closed dealerships needs to be tagged onto any bill that the obama administration wants passed as a must have standard. If you want this you have to give the good people back thier businesses ...period.
Dealerships closing
I thought it quite comical that Chrysler is grasping at straws to find reasons for closing dealerships that are performing well. Comparing sales to Honda and Toyota is ridiculous. Those brands sell on customer loyalty, high quality and good price. The really do not even compete with Chrysler given the FACT that Chrysler has discontinued most of it's inventory that did compete with those brands.
Add to the fiasco that Chrysler is closing the only dealership in Knoxville which has no floor plan...that's right , this particular dealership is the only one I know of for any brand whcih owns outright every unit of inventory on the lot.100%. Has been there for years and always has had a good reputation and great assett to the community....Oh well.
I'm going to dare say that I'd bet my own car to guess that the owners of the closing dealerships have donated in some way to political candidates who are registered republicans. This is probably Obama's way of trying to get rid of the competition.
Hail socialist leader one.
people complaining about plant closings
As a proud American all I can say is that the people who voted for this idiot Obama have gotten themselves in a good one haven't they? Losing those precious Union Jobs in Union towns and here they go moving south where they dam sure aren't needed or welcome; bringing with them higher crime rates, higher taxes, higher prices and by being greedy yes I did say GREEDY ( Greedy as hell in fact ) they have forced this nation into bankruptcy. Yes I know there are a lot of other factors that go into the equation ( housing , poor bank management etc. etc. ) But the Unions have killed the auto industry in THIS NATION.
So when it comes to thier precious factory closing where they have worked and thrived and fed thier families sometimes for generations....As far as i'm concerned they brought this on themselves so they just need to simply
LIVE WITH IT!
