"You don't see any of your law makers in Lansing taking cuts and when it comes time to vote, they will vote their self a raise. They are so far in the red, they may never get out. Mr. NO voter, It's easy to vote on someone else's pay but I would be more concered about my owned."

You compare apples and oranges.

If you had the common cents to understand your job was in jeopardy you would be rolling the dice by not accepting a reduction in benefits.

Of course many still think that Obama would come to the rescue once again.

Those days are over, no more bailouts for the Auto sector

Go ahead roll the dice if you have the nerve.

I don't work at ford's, but there would be no way I would vote for a pay cut at my job. The NO voter's on this poll must be making more than what they are worth, because I do not think anyone would vote for a pay cut if they were asked.

Middle class auto workers give and give and give more. They invest in our communities. They buy homes, pay taxes, support our schools, everything that we need Americans to do. Why would ANYONE want them to lose their jobs? How short sited and dumb can folks be? Ford is doing better. We are very happy that it is, but not on the backs of its workforce. When do the "givebacks" stop? When we can no longer afford our homes or cars? They just keep asking for more. We would like to buy a Ford and plan to in the near future provided we can afford to after all the pay reductions we have suffered and workers agreed on for the betterment of the company. Just say NO MORE because we cannot afford to say yes. Do sell more cars instead of selling out loyal dedicated workers who love the products and the improved quality and WANT to buy FORDS and to help the American economy rebound.

God Bless America!

It is my understanding that to come to Ford Motor Co. THE NEW MAN AT THE TOP OF FORD had to give up a 18 million dollar bonus from Boeing aircraft company.

Yes Farmer Jim - I got a paycut ! and so did the auto workers. (Don't ask and answer your own question) Did you get a paycut ?

No Farmer Jim I DO NOT WORK FOR ANY AUTO CO.

And while the big boys at the top of ALL US Corporation are a bunch of what you call "fat cats" and lazy dogs, it is not fair to single out one group. And by the way what you call "union rats" (so nice that you name call) are also Michigan government employees. (From what I understand MI government employees are represented by the UAW, in case you did not know)

And, as to your comment about 150,000 to walk away, that was not the offer. Most employees were offered less than their annual pay. Which by the way in most contract severance situation, one would receive at least one's annual pay.

And as for you telling me to "Now go bolt on those damned bumpers right, will ya?"

As I said I do not work for any automotive company. But maybe you should go dig those turnips now.

Hey "Jack" (by the way, very clever name. What are you in Junior High?)

Sorry to disappoint you, but not every UAW member has "3 or 4 kids paided thru college, or, a cottage up north" ..., but like the man at the top of Ford said to congress when he was asked if he would take a pay cut and answered "No, I'm good", I think all the workers would take his cue and also say "NO" to a paycut.

Grow up my friend.

another good post..

Someone that understand simple business. UAW workers are getting paid by UAW they are employeed by FORD! If ford does file for bankrupcy does any of it matter anyway? Which is why I don't understand the union attitude? It makes no sense to refuse changes to make the companies you work for profitable, when in turn if the company does belly up your going to be out of that very job.

A good example of the UAW attitude is shooting your own parents because they won't give you the same allowance as the kid next door. Once the parents are gone how are you going to get that allowance? Or better yet how are you going to receive any money? These parents are Ford, GM & Chrysler.

You UAW members at Ford just cut your own throat!! Ford will do what it has to do in order to be cost effective. More jobs to Mexico. Isn't $27.00 an hour good enough? Try living on $10.00 an hour. Always wanting more. I'd work there for $20.00 and even pay part of my medical. You don't realize just how bad it is out here, and just how good you men and women have it. So you got 3 or 4 kids all in college, you have a boat, cottage payment ext. ext. ext. Cry me a river. Try living on $750.00 every 2 weeks. Then you can cry "we want more". Get real people and be lucky you have the good paying jobs you have. If the UAW needs more concessions, then with reason take them and keep your jobs here in the United States.

Using ford's numbers the UAW workers have gone from $73 to $42 in total compensation for a 42% decrease.

Where did you pick up those numbers?

In responce to earlier comments. Using ford's numbers the UAW workers have gone from $73 to $42 in total compensation for a 42% decrease. While Mulally has taken a cut in pay it is only for 2009 and 2010, he is waiting to see how the company in doing in 2011, the same thing the union is doing by not agreeing to bind wages through 2015. If the Japanese business model to so much better, why do the top 5 execs. at Ford make more than the top 25 execs. at Toyota. Is the American way only for the top 2% of America. When the company was on the brink of bankruptcy the Union approved the concessions at a rate of 80%, but for the 3rd time in 2 years we were told that we had to give more to save jobs. Each time before ford said a yes vote would guarantee our jobs and keep the products in America, only to have the same threat repeated 6 months later so why would this time be any different.

Astrolion, did your pay get cut? No.

Who else in the WORLD would go through a market changing recession, near bankruptcy and a whole new mindset in the dynamics of the business yet not get even a 10% paycut?

NO-freaking-BODY. Except UAW fat cats, lazy dogs and union rats. We feel no sympathy for you now or in the future. You should have taken your buyout when they were willing to pay you a king's ransom simply to go away. In what other business do they pay you up to $150,000 to walk?

Now go bolt on those damned bumpers right, will ya?

OH AND ONE MORE THING

I WANT TO SEE THE CONTRACT CONCESSIONS AT AIG

A COMPANY WHO TOOK OUR TAX DOLLARS !

No one made AIG break their contracts =

in fact the government seems to have supported those contracts, I don't see any of that money going back - or atleast I haven't heard anything.

I would be very interested to know - HOW MANY OF YOU PEOPLE MAKING COMMENTS KNOW WHAT THE CONCESSIONS WERE?

OR did you just take the word of someone else (reporters, Wall Street or some clown) who may or may not have know what the concessions were?

How do you know if those concessions had anything to do with making the company more competitive or not?

Personally, I know exactly what the concessions were and I have to ask why the commitments that were contained in that proposed agreement had to do with the plants that the negotiators were from. And, why would a Union ask its membership to give up the only the power it really has, and that is the power to strike? Who is the UAW representing these days?

And, all of you who keep saying yes cut the wages. YOU MAY BE NEXT !!!!!

By the way I personally do NOT work for Ford or any automaker, but I SUPPORT MY FRIENDS, NEIGHBORS AND FAMILY MEMBERS in their right and desire to make a decent wage for the hard work that they do:)

Otto Krittic sez....With the UAWs rejection of more givebacks Alan Mullarkey is definitely between a rock and a hard place. In the recent interviews I've watched he said they will whatever it takes to stay competetive but when the subject turned to CEO salaries he dug in his heels stating that both he and management have made concessions already. Really? Funny, he's sounding a lot like a UAW member himself. A repeat of his performance on Capitol Hill when he got grilled on compensation at the Congressional hearings. He wanted no part oif that. Alan Mullarkey thought he might easily get some of those Obama bucks. That was until the subject of his own compensation came up and then he decided... NO THANKS. Some people are speculating the UAW will be busted...Otto sez...AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN FOLKS. Mullarkey and Ford would easily lose about 5 % of U.S. market share with a bone headed move of that sort. It's going to get interesting!!

To those railing that Mulally's compensation is a slap at the line worker: Get over your feeling of being repressed. Did you choose your job or was it forced on you? Do you really feel you could do his job with the same results? So did Jac Nassar and others. If you feel cheated you should have taken a generous buyout with the education option so you could finish your MBA and hope to run the Company. You guys and gals work hard and your skills are appreciated, but the market drives wages and that is the hard truth. It is the REAL American way. We shall see how this plays out. Good luck.
