Acclaim/ Spirit

Was at the tire store in Waukesha Wisconsin last night and saw an Acclaim or Spirit up on the lift. From a distance it appeared to be in very good shape. The manager and I got into a discussion and agreed that production ended in 1994 or 1995. I'd say late in '94, a 1995 model. I never owned one, the product cycle and my car purchases having been out of synch. Also (fairly or not) after having owned a Plymouth Volare I shied away from anything built at Newark (Delaware) Assembly. Does anybody have anything to share?

Speaking of tire stores my 2004 Subie went through a set of tires before its first mechanical repair. That has to be some sort of record, at least among the cars I have owned. The replacement tires, identical make and model to the original Yokahoma Geolanders, cost a fortune and then some. About 70% of what I paid for my first (used) car.
