Gettelfinger contract fatigue

"Entitlement gone berserk!"

Newsflash...the general public has been "giving back for years" and we did not have much to begin with in the first place? UAW is finally having to deal with co pays and deductibles like the rest of us? Wow...again newsflash...many of us have garbage for insurance and are paying anywhere from 500-600 per month for insurance? And we are the lucky ones. I know folks paying 800 per month or more? Just what does a UAW person have to chip in per month for insurance? I have seen my deductibles and co pays go up every year for as long as I can remember, so what else is new? COLA...what the heck is that? I don't know anyone out here that ever received COLA? We never had it to begin with? Pension? What's that? Most have to build their our own 401K if they can find the extra money? I imagine you still get "sick days" and ALL the holidays off WITH pay? Most of us can't afford to get sick, don't work, don't eat? This last one is kind of personal from ALL the skilled technicians/mechanics who have had to fix the crap that has rolled out of these plants for so many years (I do apologize, sincerely, the quality has vastly improved and you folks are assembling a terrific product now). BUT... Dealer techs have to buy their own tools, keep up with all the new technology on these rolling computer platforms AND to top it all they are expected to work on these vehicles for "straight commission", no guarantee, no hourly? So please except my sincere condolences if I don't feel sorry for the mess the "plants" have gotten themselves into?

Both Management and the UAW have pretty much squeezed the last out of the "Golden Goose". Poor goose couldn't even plunk out a gift certificate now? As far as most of us are concerned you ALL did it to yourselves. Now learn how to fix it. Bottom line...this world owes you nothing...you have to go out and earn it. Oh btw the way over half my department was just let go and the rest of us will be lucky if we make it to next spring and we had absolutely no opportunity to save our jobs, there just gone. So consider yourself lucky with what you have and I truly hope the UAW and Management can work something out. I would hate to see you or anyone else lose their jobs. Sorry for the venting but there are a lot of folks out there with pretty much nothing...but still hoping for a job.

Gettelfinger contract fatigue

the big three is not a mom and pop operation, ask any trades person who works for the big three or out of a trades union hall, we all as union trade workers are worth every penny we make, it is funny how people forget that it was our wage that kept the none union workers pay raising, the company's that did not have union workers had to pay wages that compared to ours, to get people to work for them. and to the idiot's who keep saying send the work over seas, with out us, try selling your hambugers, clothes, car and house insurance, food, and every thing else that is made here, because with out us, you all are in the same boat, so wake up and get behind us, because with out us this country is done, we made and built this country. A PROUD UAW MEMBER.

Do you say it because you believe it or because someone at the union hall told you to say it?

Why has the UAW been unable to organize Honda in Ohio, which has increasingly been turning blue in recent elections?

And if the country is done without the UAW, why does the south continue to grow its economy and population (and political clout in Congress) while the blue states struggle to hold onto what they have?

Why did VW and Kia explicitly turn down overtures from states where closed shops are legal?

...and finally...

Why hasn't anyone taught you how to use a spelling and grammar checker?

(Sorry, I couldn't resist.)

Saylorman sez "...but we want what we are due,...."

That statement about sums it up. The Detroit Union Entitlement mentality.

Newsflash...You are not "DUE" anything and lucky to have a job at all. Go away.

Gettelfinger contract fatigue

Givenusthefinger & Bob King had to know about Ford's finances before they ever presented this latest crap to the members, so --- how much were they going to get "under the table" if the workers had been dumb enough to ratify it???? Guess he found out we are not a bunch of stupid "shop rats"

Gettelfinger contract fatigue

It was not contract fatigue, it was not having the right to strike for a raise, with the contract we would not have gotten another raise till 2015, we have not had one now for two contracts, what we did get in the last two contracts, we gave back!!!!!!!!! plus gen pool, cost of living, bigger co pays and the list just keeps going on!!!!!!, he needs to tell it like it is. we have gave back more then our fair share, and our UAW leaders are sitting on the top like FAT CATS, this is a Wake up call, time for them to put in for retirement, no UAW member wants, or will let Ford MO CO go under, they are our bread and butter, but we want what we are due, just like they expect a raise, TALK about the wage top Management makes, if you want to talk about overpay, to all the people who think we are over paid, they could not tie the boot strings or do the work of ONE OF OUR FEMALE UAW WORKERS, so untill you do the work and know first hand how hard it is and what it is like to work like a ROBOT please KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT, and as far as a UAW SKILLED WORKER, we are HIGHLY TRAINED, not like JOE BLOW ON THE STREET, if you think you are a SKILLED TRADES PERSON, come carry our tools, it is a diffrent game with the BIG BOYS, the big three is not a mom and pop operation, ask any trades person who works for the big three or out of a trades union hall, we all as union trade workers are worth every penny we make, it is funny how people forget that it was our wage that kept the none union workers pay raising, the company's that did not have union workers had to pay wages that compared to ours, to get people to work for them. and to the idiot's who keep saying send the work over seas, with out us, try selling your hambugers, clothes, car and house insurance, food, and every thing else that is made here, because with out us, you all are in the same boat, so wake up and get behind us, because with out us this country is done, we made and built this country. UAW No Vote

It's not just only the no strike clause issue for the reason why we the members of the UAW turned down these latest concession. For the last two contracts we have given back. In fact, last year we gave back a 3% lump sum payment, earlier this year we gave back a 4% lump sum payment. We've allow more flexable work rules, but that's ok we still have a job. But enough is enough. While Allan Mullaly makes over 10,000 an hour. Between the top C.E.O's at Ford, they make over 60.000,000 dollars a year. We the workers want Ford Motor Co. to be sucessful but how much do they want from us when they continue to get their big sallies and bonuses.

Gettlefinger's Contract Fatigue

This vote comes down to one thing, and that is the lack of leadership. A good leader will get it members to follow, especially during times of uncertaintly. VP Bob King is a smart man, but does not have the ability to close the deal or lead its members. It's one thing to be able to negotiate a good contract, you also have to get your members to believe in you enough to sell it. There has been speculation is recent articles that Bob King will succedd Ron Gettelfinger as President. If this is true, I pray that the UAW board rethinks this decision based on recent events. I want this and all Unions to succeed because it is good for everyone, but I don't believe they can without leaders who have vision and can lead.Certainly there is someone else in the UAW leaders besides Bob King that has vision and can lead. Just something to think about. Bob is out of touch, just look at the evidence.

Gettlefinger's Contract Fatigue

Sorry home slice, a UAW non-skilled trades worker and some skill trades members are still way over paid. With an avg salary of 55k not counting benefits that puts a UAW member on par with someone with a college education working as engineer. Add in benefits are your making more than some engineers with a college education. This is wrong and needs to be corrected, plain and simple.

If the UAW would rather have no job than make concessions, I say give then what they want and move their jobs to right to work states and be done with it.

Gettlefinger's Contract Fatigue

There goes old999 spewing his fecal matter again. Your must have been born and bred an idiot. You are just as dumb as your southern senators(Shelby). You won't be happy til every middle class person is in the soup line. The UAW has already given millions and millions in concessions. Wages and benefits have been cut and frozen for years to come. Why don't you tell us how your income will be frozen for years. Probably not if you can even count.

Tue. 11/03/09 02:24 PM

ron

it wasn't fatigue it was lack of trust, all facts were ot presented (the caveat on new product) and the fact that uaw leaders maintain and gain while the soldiers and retirees give and give. no more, its time solidarity house gets a haircut.....do your job or get out and let some1 else do it.

Gettlefinger's Contract Fatigue

What a bunch of union crap. Contract fatigue indeed! These clowns are not happy unless sitting in a bar bemoaning their "bad luck" and being the victims of a cruel fate. These guys are too dumb to even deserve another chance.

Even Grabafinger admits to doing a lousy job of selling his membership on being more realistic and competitive. Come on Ford .. dump the UAW .. cancel their contracts and hire some people who are willing to work .. rather than be paid for not working.

Now we will get to see what Mulally is really made of .. hopefully it is not cotton candy.
