Another Thought on Boring
I guess not that many people think the Lions are boring. No mention of this has been made by any of the posters on this forum. My posts, however...B O R I N G !
Go PATS! I wonder what winning strategy Coach Belichick will employ against the Jets!!
Stafford or Cutler?
John: who do you think will end up throwing more picks this year? As much as we like to bash Stafford, the veteran Bears QB leads the NFL with 17 interceptions. Imagine if Matt Joneson was an NFL QB!
Spielman
You're sorta wrong with the remark about Andre Goodman being snatched up by Bill Parcells. He signed with Denver this past off season.
Also, you have to wonder how good Murtha and Gronkowski will be when they both lasted until the 7th round. The book on Gronkowski is he's not a blocker, which is what most NFL teams want in a tight end.
Finally, there's no way a college team, especially USC, would beat any NFL team. There's a world of difference between the college game and the pro game.
My Silly Bro
It's amusing how my evil twin was strangely silent for awhile after the Lions beat Washington. Now, it looks like he will be back to his constant, redundant disparaging comments. I guess the truth is that you truly care for the Lions. This is evidenced by the amount of attention you spend on this forum. It's like the seven year old boy who likes a schoolgirl and in his childish manner, shows it by constantly dissing her.
P.S. Has any source identified Levy as the Lions' best defensive player or Wisconsin's third best player (other than you)? Just out of curiosity, who is the Lions' 7th best offensive player?
Cheers,
Deaqs
Measuring a Franchise's Success
lionsforsale: I assume from your post that you saying the only way to measure a sports franchise's success is by their won-loss record. This is most certainly not true, there is no "one" measure.
In addition to won-loss records, other factors considered include management, net worth, profitability, professionalism, community involvement, fan support/attendance, etc.
I'm not stating that the Lions are a more successful franchise than the St. Louis Rams, only that one shouldn't single out past success as the primary factor in making this determination.
What's the past have to do with 2009?
The fact that the Rams have been to the Super Bowl before has nothing to do with their current team and its performance. The Oakland Raiders were a Super Bowl team once, too, but they are pretty horrid now.
Mr. T from Southgate
Your English grammar skills are somewhat of a joke, too. What's with the apostophres preceding almost every "s" in your post? You only use them it it's a contraction or possessive. Not to mention the "i" before "e", except after "c" rule.
Have a good one.
Kool Aid Overdose
At times Stafford, did look good. Other times, not. Like overthrowing wide open receivers (in the first half, as well as 2nd). And somewhat justifying a turnover because of defensive pressure is not an excuse. His INT and fumble are indicators of how he performs under defensive pressure and were not good plays. Either throw the ball away or go down.
Yeah, he claims he was trying to throw it away on the botched screen pass, but that was a bad idea, regardless. The fumble, I think you just have to accept that every now and then. He's doing a better job with the decision-making, though, comparing the last two weeks with the first two weeks. No question about that.
Lions OK For A Half
Well...well...well. After 30 minutes of encouraging ball, the Detroit Lions returned in the 2nd half to be...the Detroit Lions. Didn't really see any progress.
Matthew Stafford
When you hear positive comments about Stafford, it's primarily "big arm" and maybe his attitude/confidence. Have you ever heard terms such as "nice touch", "smart" or "playmaker" associated with him? There's a reason for this.
Stop Overdosing on Kool-Aid
Saints will blow out the Lions.
Week 1
NO 34, Lions 13
Tarvaris Jackson to the Lions?
John: there have been some rumors about the Lions picking up Tarvaris Jackson if the Vikings cut him. Do you think this would happen if he were cut? Would you take him over Drew Stanton? I've never been a fan of Jackson as he seems like an athletic QB who's not a very accurate passer.
Vikes are shoppping him, but I don't think that's the direction the Lions are headed at all at that position.
Kool Aid Drinkers In Full Force
John: Do you think Derrick Williams will make the team? He looks lost out there as a receiver and his return skills appear non-existent. All Dizon did was make a few tackles against backups and was one of the LBs out of position on the Browns' 81 yard TD run.
Williams has been a disappointment, I agree. But I think he still has to make the roster.
Oops! I did it again
Silly me. I keep forgetting that this is a forum to ask John Niyo about the Lions and not one for me to spout off my opinion on a daily basis. I'll maybe consider the Lions Talk forum in the future.
Thank you and may God bless.
That's what the title says, but please talk amongst yourselves when I'm not around.
