Blounts suspension

I agree with your take on this incident. I found it interesting that the taunter wasn't suspended at all even though his actions contributed to the altercation. A lot has been made of the fact that the University has a first year coach so I wonder if a more experienced coach would've been less harsh in his punishment.

Michael Vick

I am an animal rights advocate and I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiments. He paid for what he did through our legal system and he has every right to get on with his life.

Lion's draft picks

Nothing ever, ever, ever, etc. changes with this team. They consistently go for the bling and never the ring. Simply put they select the players that will score points, probably, but give up more than they score. Air Lions will sell a lot of fan junk but win it all? NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, . . .

George Will Be Missed Indeed

I have fond memories of watching the Tigers on TV as a kid, listening to George Kell call the game. I used to love hear him exclaim, with sincere enthusiasm, "He made a whale of a play!" whenever he witnessed a fine defensive effort. A good defensive play wasn't just big -- it was a whale!

We will miss you George. You were a whale of a player, broadcaster, and human being!

Millen Speaks

Outside of people in Detroit who don't want to be reminded of Millen, I don't think people in the rest of the country will really hold it against him. When you look at what passes for analysis on just about all the networks (particularly "The Worldwide Leader"- home of Emmitt Smiff) who's gonna notice?

Would someone please explain to Mike Ditka that if he took a breath once in a while he wouldn't constantly chop his "commentary" off mid-sentence. God, that drives me crazy!

Detroit Lions Head Coach

I would like to offer a comment on what I believe should be the lions next step. Stop courting all assistant coaches, and immediately hire Shanahan. Detroit teams have a great history of backing away from good but not great coaches, and hiring the best. The tigers did it with Sparky, and the Red Wings did it with Scotty. They waisted no time because they understood the value in a proven established master of the game. Shanahan is exactly that. He is simply the second best coach in the game today.

The pairing of Mayhew (a first year GM with virtually no track record) and Shanahan is just what the Lions need. This would allow Mayhew to learn the role of GM, with the benefit of having Shanahan's experinece. It pairs up a very green GM with a very seasoned coach/ex GM. If they can put their egos on hold, it could be a great combination.

I think Bill Ford Jr should intervene one more time with his father, and make this happen now. If they hesitate, some other team is going to get the one guy that can come in and establish credibility immediately.

All the best,

Mark

Mayor Candidates for the Motor City

The City of Detroit has a list of potential candidates for Mayor. Perhaps these two could be added to that list?

Rasheed Wallace, Detroit Pistons.

Darren McCarty, Detroit Red Wings.

These two sports guys do have a voice that speaks. A frighten stare, and a way to make one pay if you do wrong.

Sheed, or DMac. Which of these two would get your #1 vote?

Threading in forums

We are working on adding threading to the forums. Clicking on the headline of a post will now get you related posts in a few different ways.

- If the post was sent to us in response to an article, clicking on that post's headline will retrieve all comments on that article, and clicking on the "See related article" link will send you to the article itself.

- If the comment was submitted in response to a cybersurvey, clicking on the headline will take you to the cybersurvey and its related comments.

- If you click on the headline of a forum post that was simply posted in the forum, you will get all posts with that same headline.

If you want to add a comment to a thread in the forum, use the same headline as the post to which you want to respond.

If you find a problem, please tell us, and thanks in advance for your patience as we work to improve the forums for you.
