Bertuzzi's back

It's old home month at Joe Louis Arena as the Red Wings welcomed back Jason Williams and Todd Bertuzzi. VP/GM Ken Holland said the team is hoping that collectively, the Wings left and Williams, Bertuzzi and Patrick Eaves (not a former Wing) can help replace the nearly 90 goals lost when Marian Hossa, Jiri Hudler, Mikael Samuelsson and Tomas Kopecky left. Holland said he thinks Williams can score 15-20, Bertuzzi can score around 15 and Eaves around 15.

The rest of the goals he expects to come from Valtteri Filppula, Dan Cleary and the young kids, say Darren Helm and Justin Abdelkader. That is, assuming that the latter two make the team. Both still can be sent to the AHL. But I would still expect that Helm would make the team at this point. If he can play in the playoffs, I think he can play in the regular season.

Bertuzzi?

The era of the "broad street bullies" was the early seventies.

The Nhl expanded from six to 12 teams in 1967-68.

To increase Tv(nbc) ratings the nhl relaxed rules, to try and capture the uneducated american fan.

This type of hockey was goon hockey at its worse and does not compare to earlier times.Dickens, if you were knowledable, about the history of hockey, you might be able to

grasp this!

Your comparison to Lindsay and Howes playing era, there was

at least a resemblance of rules, unlike the contstant sucker

punches ,and on ice brawls of the seventies.

Dickens try joining a librairy if your literate!

Bertuzzi?

Broad street bullies was a time with relaxed rules? Forget the faux pas of writing in all caps, but you're just plain ignorant if you think for one second that the Flyers of those years were some kind of aberration.

Maurice Richard had to fight tooth and nail and even beat a player over the head with his stick for all of those 500 goals. Eddie Shore did the same thing to Ace Bailey. Ted Lindsay wasn't called "Terrible Ted" because of his pretty face, it was because of how he earned that face. Gordie Howe? Of course, most famous for elbowing his way to being known as Mr. Hockey. The Flyers not only were one of the roughest teams in history, they could actually play. And I'll say this much: It wasn't Scotty Bowman's Canadiens that made the famous Red Army team shake in their boots and crap themselves at the thought of playing another shift, it was the Flyers! Red Army Hockey, you sure have to be able to move your feet to get ahold of these guys to take the body.

Got any more jokes?

Bertuzzi?

Hey HANK ? Do you enjoy yelling in a public forum? Do not doubt the hockey knowledge of some in this forum. Please read before you critisize the hockey knowledge of Americans.

How many Cups do the DETROIT (USA) RED WINGS have??

Bertuzzi?

IF YOU REMEMBER THE "BROAD STREET BULLIES, THEN YOU WOULD KNOW THAT THE n.H.l RULES WERE RELAXED, TO DRAW AMERICANS TO WATCH THE GAMES ON N.B.C.

THIS WAS DONE BECAUSE OF AMERICANS LIMITED HOCKEY KNOWLEDGE.

mAYBE YOU SHOULD TAKE A "101 HOCKEY COURSE!

Bertuzzi?

How often ignorant folk want to exonerate the style of player Steve Moore was. Nobody ever remembers Donald Brashear goading McSorely into the head chop, nobody remembers Kesler giving it right back to Boulerice before the throat chop, nobody rememebrs it was JARRKO FRIGGIN RUUTU (a player who by name has everything coming) that was stepped on, and nobody remembers Ryan Hollweg checked Simon hard from behind before he got what was coming to him. Darren McCarty's vengeance of Claude Lemieux began with a suckerpunch Lemiex never saw coming. If that's Tomas Holmstrom or Jiri Fischer punching out Steve Moore for headhunting his teammates, every Red Wing wan would just say they're tremendously sorry for the result, but in the game situation you have to do something to a guy running around like that.

all I can say is thank God Bert's back in America where there's no silly Canadian laws trying to work around traditional consent to contact in a sports setting just to satiate beatwriters and the morons who want fighting out of hockey.

Bertuzzi?

I'm very disappointed in the signing of Mr. Bertuzzi. How soon everyone forgets what an animal he was in jumping on the back of Mr. Moore and slamming him to the ice numerous times while breaking his neck. Is that the type of person who belongs in the NHL? Apparently some teams don't think so, namely Vancouver, Florida, Detroit a few years ago, Anaheim and Calgary. They all gave him a chance and then dumped him. I guess the Red Wings are have had a change of heart. Just because the free agency hurt you, doesn't mean that you grab what ever you can. There is a reason that no other team picked him up since July 1st. He should have been in prison for his actions against Mr. Moore. This was not a fighting incident, but rather a vicious attack that if it happened outside of the rink, could probably have been considered attempted murder especially since there were numerous thumoings of Mr. Moore onto the ice, not just one.

In my option, the Red Wings took a step backward in character with the signing of Mr. Bertuzzi
