Who's in net for playoffs?

Red Wings coach Mike Babcock isn't announcing his goalie plans for the postseason yet because he doesn't have to.

He's going to wait and see what happens in the final weeks.

Here's how I see it, and I think it could be pretty simple:

If Chris Osgood is respectable down the stretch, I think he'll probably get the nod in Game 1 because of his playoff history.

But he'll have a short leash. One bad game, even a bad period possibly, and in comes Ty Conklin.

However, if Osgood is as bad late in the regular season as he has been for much of the season then I can see Conklin starting the playoff opener. Conklin, however, has played in only one playoff game in his career, and that was only for six minutes (one goal).

Either way, it will be a very short leash for whoever gets the call, much like last season when Babcock made a move in the first round by replacing Dominik Hasek with Osgood.

Can the Wings win the Cup with their goaltending?

They can't with the way Osgood has played, that's for sure.

But they could with the way Conklin has been playing on many nights, certainly with the way he has played at home.
