The Red Wings certainly look like a potential powerhouse this season, but somehow I get the feeling it might not be quite as easy as it looks.
It's going to be interesting to see how the Holmstrom-Datsyuk-Hossa line clicks early on. They've hardly played together because of injuries. I can see them struggling for a while until they develop some chemistry.
Coach Mike Babcock said he will have to be patient with that line under the circumstances. If they're not clicking right off the bat, there could be a temptation to reunite Datsyuk and Zetterberg.
After all, you know what Datsyuk and Zetterberg can do together.
But Babcock believes the team will be best off in the long run by playing both Datsyuk and Zetterberg at center and balancing out the lines.
I know Toronto is supposed to be terrible, but I see a tough opener tonight for the Wings.
If Lee Corso was a hockey analyst, it would be, "Not so fast, my friends, eh?"
I'll say it's Detroit 3-2 in OT, but an upset really wouldn't surprise me after the distractions created by the banner-raising hoopla and all the preseason hype surrounding the Wings.
