Grapes raves about Wings, Ilitch

CBC analyst Don Cherry is picking Detroit to win the Stanley Cup again.

"I don't see anything tripping them up along the way," Cherry said during a NHL teleconference. "(Marian) Hossa, I mean, they got richer.

"I see no weakness in them at all. (Chris) Osgood is just as good as ever. I mean, there's nothing, there's nothing wrong with them. If you're betting, you got to bet on Detroit again this year."

Cherry also had kind words for Wings owner Mike Ilitch.

"You cannot get a better owner in the world in any sport than Mr. Ilitch," Cherry said. "I said that before they won the championship. Even when they had no cap, when he made some money, he went out and got players. When he took over Detroit, they were giving cars away to get people to come in. You have to have an owner keep his hands out. Mr. Ilitch, to me, is the ideal owner."

Ilitch, by the way, is ranked No. 67 in BusinessWeek's 100 most powerful Americans in sports.
