Report: Chelios out six weeks

The leg injury to Chris Chelios could be worse than originally thought. Chelios could be out for as much as six weeks, according to TSN, after blocking a shot Tuesday against Montreal and suffering a fracture in his right leg. Chelios, 46, was hampered with leg and knee injuries the end of last season. This does solve one problem, though. General manager Ken Holland won't have to trade a young defenseman such as Kyle Quincey or Derek Meech, now with Chelios out. Quincey or Meech (or maybe Andreas Lilja) were likely to be traded because the Wings were over the salary cap.
