Bertuzzi cut by Ducks

Did you notice where Todd Bertuzzi became available today? The Anaheim Ducks are waiving Big Bert after a sub-par season. Bertuzzi signed there for two years and $8 million total, but the Ducks have seen enough.

Bertuzzi, 33, only scored 13 goals and hasn't been the same player since the ugly incident before the lockout when he attacked Steve Moore.

But the Wings did like certain things about Bertuzzi (size, soft hands, seemed to blend in with his teammates) when he was here two seasons ago.

Would they be interested again, at the right price? Don't rule it out.

Ironnurse, OK, this is what i wrote that you replied to. I made fun of him leaving the Wings to win the cup.

"I got a kick out of the quote from the LA Times.

"Todd is not surprised but certainly disappointed because he enjoyed the year in Anaheim. He loved the area. He could have signed any number of places but he chose Anaheim to try to win a Stanley Cup. Anaheim has a right to do what it did."

He dumped the Wings to try to win the Stanley Cup. He jumps ship for a few bucks and then the Ducks say BYE, BYE, BYE, and here we are hoisting the Cup."

How do you figure I wanted to sign Todd. I would run both him and Pronger out of the league if I had my way. I can't wait to see how the new team plays together

Dazed,

Should it matter? If he came for free and wrapped with a bow, should it matter? Should he be in Hockeytown? I vote no, a great big no. When it comes to getting great talent for little or no money, Drapes has the market cornered. Let's not sip from that bottle again. Let Bert look for a Cup with some other team, preferably one that lets you do a lot of nothing and then try to win with a couple of cheap shots and a goal or two. Let him go to Pittsburg, they could use a goon like him. Let's keep Detroit clean and gifted.

If the Red Wings get Bertuzzi, then I hope it's for the league minimum. He didn't do much when he was here 2 seasons ago and he's probably done.
